A Fat White Family's Member

'Well…this was definitely something new. I can’t say that I’ve ever had a dick in my face before but here I was at Bowery Ballroom seeing a guy I know (in the form of Fat White Family frontman Lias Saoudi) convulsing/thrusting his porksword towards a massive crowd while screaming into a microphone.'

I had never heard of the English rock band A Fat White Family until just this week. But, after searching for an image for a Naked News story, the group, formed in 2011 in Peckham, South London, became sort of a fascination.

The news story I found was about troubled guitarist, Saul Adamczewski, exiting the group this past August. As retaliation, the group posted a naked image of Saul on-line. In searching for that image (which you can see censored HERE:), it was naked concert shots of lead vocalist Lias Saoudi, that kept popping up.

AUTRE:When I saw you at the Bowery Ballroom you had your cock out within the first three minutes of the show.

LIAS SAOUDI: (laughs) I don’t know where that comes from really. As a person I’m usually quite reserved, quite shy, quite insecure essentially, so it’s like an outlet I suppose. It’s not really like a pre-meditated thing. It just feels nice. Theoretically, again if you’re doing that in contemporary art it raises all sorts of questions. Difficult questions. But I think if you’re doing that in Rock n’ Roll it’s just a bit of spice.

I believe the images here are from a 2014 concert Bowery Ballroom in New York, but as you can see from the video below, from Italy's Ypsigrock, being naked on stage is nothing new for the singer. The group has been called grimy, outrageous, vulgar, offensive and a rancid mess. They are also known as one the worst groups people are listening to. Maybe they're not as much listening as watching...

I find the fat that LIas is on stage, completely naked, with his clothed band members surrounding him both sexy and interesting. I think Lias' comments about it being an outlet make sense, creating an atmosphere of freedom to do things he may not do if not on stage.

Without Boundaries: Nathan Mateus by J Gagnon

'I love modeling because as it's a way to escape the real world and create without boundaries... even if its only for a short period of time.'

Using the word 'favorite' as part of the site's name has been a double edged sword. On one hand, it has led to many great posts and many wonderful themes I have been able to explore. On the other hand, not every image or every shoot can be a favorite. Choosing favorites means that some images always get left behind...

Thus the dilemma when deciding what images to feature of New York model Nathan Mateus. The first image I saw of Nathan was a shot from J Gagnon of Nathan sitting naked on a wooden chair in a garage.  Nathan's beautiful blue eyes, sexy facial hair and incredible body had me wanting to see, and find out more about that naked man on the chair.

Nathan and I spent a few days, and a few e-mails, going through each of our favorite shots from the photographers Nathan has worked with. Ultimately, as much as I hated losing Nathan's other work, I kept coming back to that chair, and Nathan's work with J Gagnon. Choosing this shoot proved a good choice beyond just the how hot the images are.

I have featured Joshua Gagnon's work a few times before, and some of his Halloween themed images are some of my favorite images from the holiday.  I love how Joshua creates beautifully layered stories in his shoots, and never just a series of unconnected images,  Joshua was also the first photographer Nathan had worked with, and I love featuring firsts!

How did you first get into modeling?

I actually got into modeling because I was trying to book commercial work years ago and was looking for an agent. I honestly didn't even think of doing shoots for photographers at all at the time. My mother was the one that kind of nudged me towards being a model. Thanks Mom!

Favorite Modeling experience to date?

So far, I would say my favorite experience was driving around Lake Powell while doing a shoot with Mark Grantham. I sailed on a boat, got a tan, got paid, had good company, and all the while in paradise. That's a description of a dream job!

Strangest Experience while Shooting?

I don't know if its strange, but I want to say that easily 50% of the shoots I've done have been interrupted by a cat trying to cuddle with me. Crazy cat lady in the making? Most likely.

Shooting Sans Clothing?

I actually didn't think that much about it. I love being naked. As long as I look good and its a classy concept, I'll gladly shoot nude for a photographer.

Favorite Image from this shoot?

I think the one of me laying down on the carpet is my favorite. It shows off my assets/ money maker very well, yet is also a beautiful image.

Working with J Gagnon:

I've known J Gagnon for years now. I met him when I was 18 when my boyfriend at the time wanted me to tag along for a shoot up in Manchester. I did a few poses back then, but nothing really special. Fast forward almost a decade and he reached out to me saying he wanted to do a solo shoot. The rest is history! I love working with him. He is funny, yet serious and passionate about is work. Its contagious! We must have taken thousands of photos in one session.

Body Parts that get the most Attention?

That would have to be my eyes and my butt. It's a strange combination, but I feel people like my eye color, yet enjoy my dancer legs and booty. I am the most happy with my butt honestly because many models have asked where I train to get it that developed. I tell them 25 years of ballet training and lifting ladies above my head for a living! Haha

I've been performing professionally on stage for about 15 years now. So being in front of people and the camera is just as natural as having a cup of coffee to me. I love it!  I am kind of a work-a-holic. Modeling started off as a fun thing to do while I had down time in between different shows and jobs. Now it has definitely turned into part of my full time work! I didn't realize I'd enjoy it that fast and it's a nice escape from performance world.  I also love art, so the chance to make a photographer's vision come to life is a challenge and an honor!

Some of you might have perked up when Nathan mentioned Mark Grantham and shooting in Lake Powell.  Although I didn't know it when I first contacted him, Nathan was one of three models who joined Mark, Gordon Nebeker and Mike Tossy on their annual Utah Adventure this year.  Many of you are aware that I have covered the Utah shoot the last several years and have already begun planning this years feature with Gordon.  Given they just wrapped this week, patience is required, but I am excited to be able to present the shoot when the images are ready.

'When I was really young I wanted to either be a baseball player, super hero or civil engineer. I stopped playing baseball before high school, but I’m still working on the super hero thing.'
Manny Jacinto

Although I love Kristen Bell, and the premise sound intriguing, I have yet to see an episode of the new series The Good Place.  But... after seeing the stunning face of Canadian actor Manny Jacinto in some of the promo's, I must add it to the DVR.

Dead branches. White snow

The four season’s slow pace

~Spring~

Winter is coming, and it was winter that had me reaching out to 24 year old Seattle model Joshua David. It was just last week, when writing a post for Ten, that mentioned my passion for posing images that match the time of year of the post. Seasonal changes are often more colorful, artistic and dramatic than the seasons that precede or come come after them.

The winter image that had me contacting Joshua is the last image in this piece. It was entered, and deservedly won, the pic of the day contest on ModelMayhem. The image was majestic, panoramic, incredibly sexy and both distant and personal at the same time. The shot was taken when Joshua was visiting Mount Rainier and I can' think of a more beautiful image to have people wanting to visit.

~Summer~

Joshua has a great look, great facial structure, expressive eyes and a tight and toned body that he moves elegantly in front of the camera. When I dove further into Joshua's portfolio, there were a variety of images from fashion to fitness, not to mention his many shots in the bathtub! As I was choosing images for this piece however, I was stuck by how beautifully the exterior locations were shot that surrounded Joshua in so many of the images.

I'm sure you also noticed, as I did, how alluringly central Josha's butt is in so many of the shots. Joshua's backside also inspired the name of his Instagram, bun_adventure. Joshua also shares, that both his right and left butt cheeks are gluten free, making them safe for all to devour and enjoy.

Favorite Import of the Day: Alberto Ferreiro

I caught a bit of 2004's Bad Education on television the other night but it wasn't Gael García Bernal that I was concentrating on this time. Yes, Gael is brilliant in the film, and his skinning dip scene is still as beautiful as ever. It was an early scene with Gael and the character of Enrique that had me googling the actor portraying Enrique.

The relationship and history between the characters is complicated, but the scene in the hotel room is very erotic. Alberto Ferreiro looks so incredibly beautiful lying there with his dark wavy hair and beautiful body. I had not heard of the Spanish actor before this film, nor have I seen in him anything since.

Not that Alberto hasn't been busy, he has a long resume of film and television roles. I am going to have to hunt down more of his work. I found the 2003 short Nito, (see below) and Alberto again dives into a risky and complicated role.

Light Years Away: FaVorites II from Lights On Studio

Last month, I posted part one of Lights On Studio's favorite shots from his immense portfolio of images and shoots. Photographer Tom Nakielski acknowledged it was a difficult task narrowing down his favorites, especially given the array of models and themes that he has shot. Tom narrowed it down to about 40 shots, the first set I featured in last month's Ray of Light.

In part two, the focus is more on style and creativity. Tom combines the beauty of the male form with themes which include classic Greek Gods, mythology and Gothic and fantasy inspired imagery.  Tom uses his signature flashes of light and vibrant colors as well some new tricks and techniques in the creation of this second set of favorites from Lights On Studio.

Zach

I can't remember how I came in contact with Zach; but his picture did win the POTD contest from Model Mayhem. Love how relaxed and natural he looks.  With the image above, I was just experimenting with an image. The red curves are from an image I took at the Detroit Auto
Show.  I love the intense feeling from Zach in the image below.

Matt

I was at an event with artists creating chalk art on the sidewalk. Matt was creating a chalk image depicting dance. He was a dancer himself. I suggested he come have a session with me. I had been wanting to create an image with the effect of the dust flying. Matt excelled in creating the puffs of "smoke"

At that shoot, I also found out that Matt could also perform with silks. It was a bit of a process setting up the silks in the studio to make it safe. He was hesitant to do nude shots but I assured him I would make sure the images we created would be artistic and tasteful. So glad he agreed to do it.

Elijah & Donovan

I took advantage of having Elijah for one session and Donovan for another session after Elijah's and used the opportunity to do a duo of them together. Once again the "smoke" was to mask Donovan's privates, but I like the atmosphere it created.

Nate

Nate was one of the first bodybuilders I worked with. I spotted him in a restaurant wielding a sword. And I immediately knew I would love to have a session with him. The sword was won from a physique contest he just competed in. (I do have images with the sword but I like the ones I have included in this group better). He has never posed nude before so I did quite a few shot with clothes and shirtless to ease him into it all.

Exavier

Exavier is a life model and has a passion for the arts. He is in graduate school writing his thesis in aesthetics. He wanted the images we created to have some meaning or tell a story and was an eager participant and contributor in all the concepts we worked on.

Ten: POTD 2010

Although Pic of the Day's with male butts were still a staple, 2010 was the year FH as we now know officially came together. I always envisioned the site as an on-line magazine and my five post a day layout was cemented by the end of 2010. Staring with the magazine's cover, (POTD) followed by Birthdays, 2 supporting stories and the main artist, model or performers profile.

Image from WagnerLA

There have been times since 2010 that I have thought of altering the format, dropping the birthdays, posting fewer stores or posting more or less often, ultimately I find the format suits my style and allows me to fit in all of the things I want to cover each day. I continue to have a love/hate relationship with the Birthday feature. Some days it is a chore, other days, it has become my favorite part of working on the blog, especially if I'm able to find a great new shot of the Birthday boy.

Image from Xtavier_Paris

Photographer and model profiles became a daily staple with the POTD and main story tying together for pretty much every day's posts. Photographers who first appeared or were covered in 2010 included Wagner LA, Xtavier_Paris, David Arnot, Ev Dylan, Zedneram, Michael Stokes, Flyfoto, John M Clum, Haringman+, Bryan Motely, Leigh Carter and y first post featuring msbimages. Several photographers became regular contributors including Michael Puff, Bill McClaren, LightWeaver and Scott Barnes.

2010 also marked the debut o FH of Barnsbury Studio. This was noteworthy as the artist behind Barnsbury is photographer Angus Malcolm who has gone to shoot the Warwick Rowers calendars the last 6 six years. I featured Angus' work with other models, I especially loved Boys at the Lumina. In November of 2010, featured his first shoot for Warwick.

Models and performers were also favorites in 2010 and I tried when possible, to work directly with the model or actor on their stories. Some of the men making their FH debuts in 2010 were Ryan Murray, Nick Ayler, Steve Raider, Brad Ouellette and Brett Gleason. Thanks to Chris Tell, we also saw the first appearances of FH favorites Claudiu and Samuel Boux.

Kate Mckinnon was great as always and Alec Baldwin brought the buzz, but there was still something lacking from last weeks Saturday Night Live. I might have been the build up, and the brilliant promo of Mckinnon and Baldwin getting into their characters, but I laughed far less than usual at this seasons premiere. It might have been the writing, Weekend Update was bad, or it might have been the loss of Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam.

'I think they were great, and they did wonderful work when they were with us,” Michaels told USA Today. “They served the show well, and are two people I really care about.” Adding, “Change is the lifeblood of the show; it always has been. And you have to keep bringing new people in.
Lorne Michaels

There has to be more than that! Both actors were magic with Killam the male lead for most of his run and Pharoah really coming into his own last season, especially in his portrayal of Ben Carson. If Michaels wanted new blood, how about booting Bobby Moynihan or Kenan Thompson. Now I like both actors, but both have been on SNL much longer, Thompson, since 2003. How about booting Sasheer Zamata? I know she came on with a ton of fan fare but has yet to create a memorable character, or even a great moment.

The good news is, both actors quickly got roles on Showtime series, we knew it wouldn't take long. I love Jay's new buff bod, but also loved how he looked on SNL. Although both will do fine, I will still miss them on Saturday nights. Cast members come and go, that's life, but both actors still had another year on their contracts and it seems rather.... well unnecessary to boot two such talented cast members who so many more laughs to give.

Actor & Role: Timothy Olyphant in Rock Star

The 2001 drama Rock Star is definitely one of my movie guilty pleasures. There is something incredibly sexy to me about Mark Wahlberg and Timothy Olyphant in their 80's rocker tight leather pants, wigs and hair extensions. I don't remember really crushing over 80's rockers when I was a kid. Many of them, have kept the long hair, and grungy look, way past the 'best before' date.

I was totally drawn however, to the rockers of Rock Star. Olyphant is an actor I have really love in some roles, and in some others, not so much. Both Wahlberg and Olyphant both show a flash of crack and the scene in which Jennifer Aniston removes his tighty whities with scissors is a good one!

Ouse Valley Viaduct: Beau by JBDI Photography

'I think the combination of Beau and the perspective of the arches as well as the colours of the brickwork must make it my best ever location shoot.'

One of the joys of working on FH is about all of the things I learn and discover. This week, and thanks to JBDI Photography, I was introduced to the visual masterpiece that is Ouse Valley Viaduct. (The Balcombe Viaduct) The intricate and elegant architectural conception, the colors and the maze like design are a magnificent visual feast.

The famous series of Victorian brick arches support the main train line running between London and the South Coast in the UK.  JBDI's Jon shares that it's a well-known photographic location for amateur and professional photographers. Jon travels over it himself by train quite regularly, and had seen many images with female nudes taken in the space over the years.

As excited as I am by a great shot of a model, I am even more interested when the model is shot in a unique and interesting location. I have been fortunate to have featured many photographers and models who have trekked through the the woods, into abandoned buildings, into old factories, down to the basements of old banks ad train stations. Shooting in these type of locations requires navigating risks, the elements and people passing by.

For the photographer, the challenges move beyond the controlled environment of a studio. Working with the available light, the locations shooting limitations and often the time constraints of getting in your shot while the 'coast is clear'. It can also be a challenge to find a model, particularly one ready to get naked in public, and one who knows how to work with the environment that surrounds them. Jon masterfully achieved each of these challenges in his work with Beau Michael.

Jon's images of Beau are incredible, beautifully capturing the location, it's depth and puzzle like design, all without distracting from Beau. I especially love how Jon weaved and contrasted lines curves. The beauty of Beau's body lines with the brick design which surrounds him. I have seen certain locations dominate an image, morphing and minimizing certain models into their environment and into the background. This certainly does't happen with Beau. The 25 year old London model holds his own with the 175 year structure, balancing it's strength and beauty with his own. Beau has a command of his surroundings with his confidence, incredible body, with it's own art work and designs demanding attention. Beau also keeps his focus on the viewer, staring directly into the lens, inviting, almost insisting, that the viewer stare back.

Jon had seen images of Beau in various shoots, from a variety of different photographers on Model Mayhem and other sites and has wanted to shoot with him for some time. Given Jon often stays with family not far from Balcome viaduct, he contacted Beau on the off chance he was available. He was, and they headed to The Balcombe Viaduct on a hot day last August.

'Beau's got a very stylish look with the tats and a slight resemblance to Brad Pitt/Leonardo Di Caprio (!) - he also has a very nice body. We were not overlooked or disturbed except by a small remote control drone which was hovering in the field next to us possibly with a camera, checking us out! The shoot took place on the hottest day of the year in the UK, which made it easier for Beau to strip off his clothes and be more comfortable naked.'

Last October I decided it was time to put a donate button on the site. I was thinking of making some changes in my career, (which I have since done) and my life and thought after 9 years of working on FH, it was time. I never expected it to bring in much money, but hoped it might cover some expenses and maybe enable me to commission some themed pieces for the site. At that time, I promised not to become a PBS pledge drive, so I waited a year to post about it again. The donate button didn't exactly light any fires when it up, and although FH isn't all about the money, money, money, aside from one early donation (THANK YOU!) the ch-ch-ching ch-ching isn't leadin to any bl-bling-bl-bling. If you enjoy the site and want to make a small donation, thank you! If you enjoy the blog but are unable, that's more than cool as well. Nuff said, at least til next year...
