When I was growing up I hated Alan Alda. I really didn't like M*A*S*H and my parents watched repeats almost every night after supper. When I got older, I stopped fighting it and watched a few episodes. Although I never grew to like the show, I did gain an appreciation for the unique talent that is Alan Alda. There was something to me so appealing about an actor who didn't need to pick up a gun and Rambo his way through every role. Alda was played complex, intelligent men I both looked up to and related to.
