At the recommendation of a friend, I watched the 2013 Israeli film Snails In The Rain last night. I am not sure it was me, or the copy I ordered, but I couldn't for the life of me find a way to get the subtitles to turn on. It didn't end up mattering much.
The film's theme is longing and unfulfilled desire and it's lead, the incredibly beautiful model turned actor Yoav Reuveni. Yoav is memorizing on screen, his face and eyes I could stare at and into forever. Even without understanding the words, first time film director Yariv Mozer knew that with Yoav as the lead, desire was inevitable. Yoav is shirtless a lot in the film and although there are a couple nude butt scenes, both are quite dark.
The movie is filmed with on 'longing' scene after another. Yoav's Boaz staring longingly at others, and everyone he meet it seems, both men and women, become infatuated with him. It is no wonder, I became instantly infatuated with Yoav, but sadly, Snails in the Rain seems his one and only film so far. Hopefully we will see him back on the screen again soon.
