Mom is not exactly television excellence. Like many shows from creator Chuck Lorre, the writing can be lazy, often mean spirited, leveled at the lowest possible denominator. Despite this, Allison Janney turns the words, and every scene, into pure magic. A great example was a recent episode about cancer, which also featured the phenomenal Mimi Kennedy. On paper, the show was not especially well written but Janney, and Kennedy, tore the shit out of every moment that was offered. Janney brings out the best in all of the cast and although on paper, her character is typical sit-com fare, but in her hands, Bonnie is one of televisions richest characters.
