Although StudioMGphotography's images had appeared on FH earlier, the first time I really focused in on Mark's striking visuals was the 2010 feature The Beauty of Lines. The piece featured Mark's images of dancers CaSon and Damon climbing, hanging, balancing and dancing, pushing the limits of both their bodies, and the laws of gravity. Although both models were naked, their body parts were not in focus. Mark was focused on what they could do with their bodies, how high they could climb, how far they could stretch and how their bodies could connect with the environment, and utilize everything that the shooting location had to offer.
Mark's work was instrumental in my seeing, and appreciating imagery of the male form in a new an exciting way. I'll always love a well crafted shot of a great looking model, but the energy and excitement in Mark's work is uniquely rare. One of my favorite themes that Mark explores within his work is cirque érotique. Circus, and it's themes flow through most of Mark's work, the obvious ones like flying, balance and acrobatics but also subtle nods to clowns, to circus animals and maybe most importantly, urgency and risk.
