Claudio Marchisio: Caldo Centrocampista!

Italian footballer Claudio Marchisio, who plays as a midfielder for Juventus and the Italian national team has been on the field most of his life. Claudio, who made his breakthrough in 2008 and just signed an extension for another five years. Like many superstars of sports, Claudio has done his fair share of modeling and to me looks equally hot in a suit on the cover of Italian GQ, or in his undies modeling for Dolce & Gabbana.

Although I don't have a preference for Claudio in or out of his clothes, I do think he looks exceptionally hot with his facial hair. Claudio is one of the sports most popular players and is affectionately known as Il Principino, The Little Prince, , a nickname he acquired from his Juventus team-mates because of his style and care with his clothing choices, as well as his calm and relaxed manner while on the field.

Thankfully Italians still love to hang out around beaches and pools in their speedos. Claudio seems partial to black and lime green and also to yanking them down to give his well toned ass a little fresh sea air.

Translucence:
The physical property of allowing light to pass through a material diffusely

So often, photographs are measured by what the viewer is able to see. The colors, the background, the light and shadow and of course, the subject. When that subject is the male form, opinions are also formed based on the viewers personal feelings about a looks, their face and I would guess most often, their body. Although I feature many models and artists based on my own personal visual pleasure when viewing specific image, it is not my main criteria.

More than just what I am able to see on the surface, I am always fascinated by what some are artists are able to see beneath it. Some photographers masterfully capture form, magnificent images of the male physique and every part of their impressive bodies.

Other artists are able, and choose to go further. They utilize a models body, look and their ability to convey emotion. Through concept and pose, they bring out various aspects of a personality or have them create the emotion for the feel they are trying to achieve. Other artists seem able to use their camera and skill to capture translucency. There eye, and their camera acting as not only the barer of bodies, but the barer of souls.

One of the most important skill of any artist is the ability to reveal. The revealing isn't necessarily always about clothing. Clothes may cover a body, but they really don't have the power to conceal spirit or soul. I have seen many images of completely naked men with their penis front and center who really don't actually reveal anything. Other times, I have seen models, either covered partially or fully, who through an artist, expose so much more.

Every time I feature the work of Ohm Phanphiroj I am always struck by his ability to capture, and uncover what is concealed below the surface. So many art forms, especially film and literature, tend to focus on the relationships between people. Photography is an art form, and Ohm an artist, whose focus is on one person, and their relationship with themselves.

Within this set of images, model Tyler Wilder, although alone, seems to be sending a message out. Using the camera as almost a connector, Tyler seems to know exactly who might be watching. He beautifully uses to remind them of what might have been, and of what could still be. A taste of a memory that he longs to experience once again.

Ohm describes Tyler as an upcoming model, he not only photographed, but also manages. Currently, Ohm is developing his portfolio for bigger markets in NYC and Europe. Currently an undergrad student in his third year, Tyler's dream is to eventually become a veterinarian. Ohm says, 'Tyler is a sweet young man who is eager to make it big in modeling, and I hope he succeeds.'

Pulsing Palpitations: Giacomo Gianniotti

I have pretty much given up on Grey's Anatomy, have not watched regularly in a little over a year. I still love me some Justin Chambers, but the shows need to have 'ratings grabbing' disasters and mass shootings eventually turned me off. But... I am of course a sucker for an adorable face, and of course an adorable face not wearing a shirt. Grey's certainly did a good job a few weeks ago promoting the hell out of an upcoming shirtless scene.

Well dammit, it worked on me, and I wasn't really disappointed it worked. I was introduced for the first time to Dr. Andrew DeLuca played by the incredibly sexy actor Giacomo Gianniotti. Giacomo has that face, that body and that perfect hair that may actually have me DVR in order to ff to his scenes... Giacomo has only been acting for about 5 years but has appeared in short stints on a few shows including, Reign, Selfie and The Murdoch Mysteries. Hopefully, he will stick around Seattle Grace will be a little bit longer.

Blast From The Past: Helmut Berger

I don't really remember much about Austrian actor Helmut Berger. I sort of remember him on repeats of Dynasty and think I may have seen Salon Kitty (the images look familiar) on late night moving airing sometimes in the 80's. I do know that when I when I was researching another story recently, an image of Berger from Dorian Gray had me looking for more about the actor.

Berger has the European looks we in America always associate with Austrian men; strong face, tight hot body and that blonde hair and those striking blue eyes. Dorian Gray is a story always interesting if done right, so I am interested to see Berger in the 1970 version. I loved Ben Barnes in the role, but from the few stills I have seen I think Berger's version might have pushed the envelope more than Barnes in the 2009 version.

Berger is still alive and well and still busy acting in movies and on television. Most of Berger's roles were in European film but in addition to Dynasty, also appeared in American productions most notably his role in The Godfather Part III.

Peak Condition: Rex Cameron by Covet Image

'I've always worked hard on staying in shape and pushing my body to be in peak condition, so it felt natural to do nudes. I like the idea of my body being viewed as art.'

'I asked Rex if he was comfortable getting up on the stool? Well, as soon as I said it, I thought that was a really stupid question.... but before I could even explain my ideas, he was up on the stool and posing. I had a great time capturing that image. In fact, it is one of my favorites from the shoot.'

It was just about one year ago that I was privileged to be able to first present the work of Chicago photographer Ray Golm from Covet Image. Since that first piece last November, (Temporary Seclusion) I have been fortunate to have been able to feature Ray's several more times throughout the last year.

Although Ray still considers himself an amateur, to me his work is both excellent and unequivocally professional Although professional may be defined by making a living from something. Professionalism is also describes the way one interacts with others as well as utilizing superior skills to produce outstanding results.

I can't exactly say Ray's work has gotten better as I loved the images that initially drew me to his portfolio last year. What I can say is that with each shoot, you can feel the growth in Ray's confidence to push the boundaries of his creative impulses, bringing out more personality, more depth and more heat from the men in front of his camera.

You can both see, and feel the high intensity of heat in Ray's latest work with model Rex Cameron. Rex radiates a powerful sexual energy Ray beautifully captured especially though his use of pose and Ray's intensely seductive eyes. When Rex gives you 'the look', he doesn't make it easy for you to look away. Ray agree's about Rex's eyes and says that although viewers may be drawn initially to those rippling muscles, one cannot ignore his captivating eyes. Ray and Rex got together to shoot while Rex was paying a recent visit to Chicago. Ray set up shoots in both his hotel as well as in studio.

'Hotel rooms are so many things to so many people: a home away from home for a business traveler, a place to sleep for an urban adventurer, a private space for a secret rendezvous. My goal was to capture the later in my work with Rex. It was a real collaborative effort, both of us playing off each others ideas and suggestions.'

Ray says Rex works hard on his physique and enjoys showing off the results. 'He's proud of his looks, but not egotistical. He also knows his body and knows how to position it so the viewer can fully appreciate all of his hard work'. This made shooting nudes a breeze and when he was figuring out how best to shoot him, Ray says it all came down to the black and the white.

Ray loves shooting models in front of a saturated white background, and with Rex, the white allowed his personality take center stage. Shooting him against a black background was also an obvious choice. 'His amazing physique was accentuated by the strong key light created by the 18-inch beauty dish.' Ray's creative choices clearly paid off and both photographer and model were thrilled with the results.

'I saw Ray's work and adored not only its composition, but the way he uses light and shadow to highlight the male form. I also liked the masculinity he showcased in each of his images. He shows a strong male form and his work took my breath away.'

Rex has been modeling for over 10 years and has worked with many established photographers including his work with Mark Henderson and has been featured in magazines including DNA. Rex likes to work with established photographers with a vision. It is important to him that the projects he takes on are not only professional but artistic. Rex knew that after seeing Ray's work, he was an artist he wanted to work with.

'Ray was a blast! Not only did we create beautiful, masculine, artistic, images, but the entire shoot was just a lot of fun! He communicates with his models and leaves the atmosphere light and breezy which made me feel beyond comfortable. I was free to be creative and in turn was free to take risks. Nudes can be intimidating, but I was so comfortable with Ray.....the focus was always about creating strong masculine male nudes and I'm so proud of the art we created!'

Geometric Excellence: Will by Gordon Nebeker

$

Since first featuring his work back in 2011, photographer Gordon Nebekerhas become one of my favorite artists to feature. Gordon is not only generous with sharing his images, he is also giving with comments and stories about his process. It is risky to say a particular model or shoot is a favorite. Tastes, ast least mine do, change with time and with what emotionally is going on for me in my life. That being said, Gordon's work with Will is not only currently one of my favorites from Gordon, it also so beautifully what I love most about his work.

I was first introduced to Will this past summer as one of three. Gordon, along with photographers Mike Tossy and Mark Grantham, headed back to the Utah deserts and mountains, taking along with three incredible models, for another world win shoot. Will was one of those three models. I hoping to feature more from Utah in the near future, but until then, Gordon shot Will solo earlier this month in Florida.

As I went through the images Gordon sent on, and these are just one piece, I couldn't help but think, that if I were shooting Will, this is exactly the type of shoot list I would have loved to have completed. Gordon captured so many of the themes I look for within shoots that I really like. I see many great photo series, but whether 10, or 100 shots, if they are all focused on the same thing, they become boring very quickly. Gordon captured so many great looks with Will, so many exceptional captures. Images that focused on his magnificent physique, images that focused on form, pose, his rock hard abs, arms and legs. Images that covered, and uncovered, Will's his back, backside and his impressive front. Images that captured his incredible facial structure, eyes and hair. Will has a touch of Clark Kent within his look, and a whole lot of super... man.

It is not often that Gordon is able to work with a model for more than a single day, but it in Will's case, it worked out that they had the opportunity to do two, multi day shoots within the last month and a half. The first, the Utah shoot, the second, the shoot in Florida. On the Utah shoot, Gordon remembers being impressed with how Will used any extra time he had, quick moments between shoots, or during breaks to keep his muscles pumped up. Even if there were no weights handy, Will found a way. He would drop and do pushups or pick up a tree trunk or anything laying around and do overhead lifts with it.

'All that exercise soon brought my attention to his high metabolism rate which allows him to eat just about anything and not show it on his body. Amazing! And what a body he has! Lean, muscular, great facial structure and perhaps what I appreciate most as a photographer focusing on the geometry in my my work, he is angular in the best way possible. In short, it was a delight to work with him and I hope to have the pleasure of working with him again soon.'

'Shooting in Florida with Gordon was amazing, His 10 years plus of experience definitely shows! This was our second shoot and it was once again a very humbling, comfortable and an enjoyable experience! I learned about negative spacing with my arms which I have used already on a shoot in Chicago, along with chin down. I would definitely love to work with Gordon again, maybe a beach shoot. Also, with my years playing baseball and doing gymnastics, I would love to incorporate more athletics the next time.'

Although Will has quite a bit of experience modeling, every photographer has his or her own style and sometimes it takes a while to create a smooth rhythm. Rhythm wasn't a problem when Will and Gordon began to shoot. Gordon describes Will as a fast learner and shares that he was in 'the groove' within minutes. 'He is comfortable with his body and it shows in the confidence of his poses. And he loves to dance!'

One of Gordon's goals in this shoot was to show a sense of movement in some of the photographs which he admits can sometimes be a challenge with still photography. 'Several times I turned up the music and set him free to dance while I followed him with my camera taking continuous rapid shots which freezes the action mid movement. The mind can see the movement even though it is a still image.'

Will says his comfortability with shooting nudes has grown through his experiences in front of the camera the past couple of years, especially the two shoot he did with Gordon. Part of feeling confident about taking off your clothes, is feeling good about what's under them. To keep his body in top condition, Will works out about three times a week. Will is also blessed with a wonderfully high metabolism, which means he doesn't follow any specific diet, only a healthy one. Will looks forward to where his modeling may lead, his goals include more travel along with commercials and seeing himself in a magazine.

'It is rare to work with someone who looks equally good in clothes and with no clothes. I am usually photographing my models with little or no clothing but we spent an enjoyable couple of hours on this shoot doing clothed lifestyle/fashion shots and Will can pull that off very well.'

'Will has a good sense of humor but he is soft spoken and it took me a while to realize that. But when you are working with someone for two days straight they either become good company or you find yourself wishing it was over before it is. Will is good company and I wouldn't hesitate to do another must-day shoot with him. I would just have to remember to bring a lot of food!'

And The Emmy Goes to....

The Leftovers is one of the most depressing and painful yet brilliant hours of television to watch. I have posted a few times about the show, mostly focusing on the nudity, most recently last month with a scene from actor Chris Zylka. Zylka leads a long list of actors turning in amazing performances some of whom include Regina King, Amy Brenneman, Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon and Christopher Eccleston.

This season has been especially stellar, one of the best being the November 2nd episode, No Room At The Inn. Eccleston's Matt Jamison was in almost every scene of the episode and the his journey, along with his wife Mary, (Janel Moloney) was a painful one to watch. Eccleston was incredible in every scene. His emotions ran from resigned to pained, distraught and hopeful through resolute and resigned. His nude scene, equally brave for both actor and character, a moment completely no sexual, yet compelling and complete. Most know the English actor as 9, being the the 9th Dr. Who, but I am shamefully naive about the world of Dr. Who but I certainly plan on educating myself about more of this actor's incredible work.

Favorite Face of the Day: Spencer Treat Clark

Several months ago, on Saturday late night TCM, I caught the 1976 version of a film entitled The Town That Dreaded Sundown. It was a dark 70's horror film that is said to be loosely based on the actual crimes attributed to an unidentified serial killer known as the Phantom Killer. The film opened with one of those voice over which said, 'The incredible story you are about to see is true, where it happened and how it happened; only the names have been changed.'

Well, I was hooked and watched. This past October, with the non-stop Halloween/horror movies being aired, I caught the 2014 re-make. Although I usually hate re-makes, this one, like the original, grabbed my interest right away. There were enough differences to make it interesting, especially the character of Corey played by actor Spencer Treat Clark.

Spencer has such a great face, he drew me in from his first scene. Not only incredibly sexy, but also very familiar. Many of you might remember Spencer as a child actor, his most well known role in Gladiator as Lucius. I think I might actually also remember him from Another World, where he played Stephen Michael Frame in the late 90's.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014)

Spencer has also appeared on screen in films including, Unbreakable, Mystic River, The Last House on the Left and on television on shows like, The Good Wife, The Closer, Law and Order SVU, Mad Men and most recently on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I will certainly be keeping an eye on this actors upcoming projects!

Enchanting Forrest

Granddaddy-O! I have noticed a theme the past year or so with some of my posts. There are many actors I saw on tv or film when I was younger that at the time seemed just like old men. I saw them as actors, but there was no attraction of any kind. Now that I am older myself, some of these men have morphed from old men to hot men...

I am often late to the party, but I only first saw 1981's Mommie Dearest about 10 years ago. When actor Steve Forrest, surrounded in pink, slid into the shower with Faye Dunaway, I really didn't give him much thought. I watched part of the movie again a few weeks ago and all of a sudden Forrest looked a whole lot hotter slipping of his towel and getting into that shower.

Mommie Dearest is certainly a flick worth pulling out and re-watching every 5 years or so. Some of the scenes are hilarious and Dunaway was great, not to mention Diana Scarwid who is really quite amazing. I don't think I've seen Forrest in anything else, but I did a quick google search and was interested in his 1960 film with Elvis.

If the title, Flaming Star, wasn't funny enough, the few caps I found were of a shirtless Elvis Presley looking pretty upset over Forrest. I am guessing however from checking out IMDB, the two were brothers in the film with Presley's love interest being Barbara Eden. Still, the movie's title, and the shirtless shot of Elvis on the movie poster brought me a chuckle.

Photographers Dream: Nolan Ritter by Carl Proctor

'Nolan has an energy and passion for his modeling career that is very rare to find. Plus he's full of that aww-shucks Midwestern goodness which make him a photographer's dream.'

On television, in film or in literature, when a character is described as having 'aww-shucks' like qualities, it is usually to describe someone shy, naive and unsophisticated. For me however, naiveté isn't always about not knowing, instead, for some, it is about not allowing. Not letting negativity and naysayers get in the way of the pursuit of your passions and dreams. Maintaining not just positive energy, but a hopeful determination that despite the challenges, success is not only possible, but deserved.

23 year old Saint Louis fitness model Nolan Ritter definitely has that determination. He doesn't want to use others to make it, but help others along the way. Nolan believes in waking up in each day and taking very opportunity to turn his dreams into reality. For Nolan, mistakes aren't something to dwell on, but something to use and to learn from. Nolan's goal is not just to make it as a model and fitness personality, but to make it to the top, taking the industry by storm.

Atlanta photographer Carl Proctor describes Nolan as a rising personality Nolan Ritter is focused on what needs to be done. What needed to be done when Carl and Nolan got together was to create incredible images to represent Nolan's brand and as you can see they more than succeed. The shoot turned out to be somewhat of a marathon shoot with model and photographer working a full three days and part of a 4th to get just the right shots.

Carl Proctor is an artist who knows how to create images which provide his models with exactly what they need. Given Nolan's focus is fitness, as well as an interest in taking up acting, Carl's images cover all the bases. Nolan's impressive physique is perfectly shot, especially his incredible chest, abs and his magnificent arms. Nolan's handsome face is also beautifully captured, especially his great lips and gentle, and a little flirtatious, brown eyes.

'Nolan told me when he puts his mind to do something, he sticks with it to get the job done all the way. He was one of a very few models who wasn't glued to his cell-phone throughout the shoot, but stayed focused on what needed to be done.'
