Bondtiful Harvest: Bond by New Manhattan Studios

'Plant the seed of desire in the field of imagination to grow the harvest of invention.'
Debasish Mridha

Fresh, ripe, plump, round, juicy, tasty, luscious, sticky and sweet, supple, melt in your mouth and of course all-natural and skinned could be words one might use when discussing a certain hot model.... Of course however, they are much more appropriate adjectives to describe ripened harvest fruits and vegetables. With Thanksgiving upon us, many fruits and vegetables have just reached the climax of their ripening, ready and waiting to be devoured.

Grapes, cranberries, figs, broccoli, green beans, spouts, root vegetables and of course apples, are at their juiciest just in time for the holiday. I can't think of a better setting, nor a better model, photographer and place, to spend a few minutes of the holiday with.  An apple orchard, Bond Brown and New Manhattan Studios, something I am immensely thankful for.

Gathering together with friends and loved ones is a staple of any great holiday. If you're a regular reader of FH, you know that Bond, and his work with NMS's Wes and Alex, have become a part of many recent holidays celebrated on FH. Halloween, both this year's and last, Valentine's Day, and briefly... very briefly, a bunny Bond appearance last Easter. It's a little too soon to know if Bond might be in our Christmas stocking, but I have certainly put it on my list!

'In late spring we spent a full day in California, first chasing Bond through an orchard and then capturing shots of him frolicking in and around a pool in one of the most spectacular settings we've ever seen: a pool of blue water suspended in a deck jutting out of the side of a hill high above the Pacific Ocean. Late that same day we wound up in an equally dramatic setting, shooting the intrepid model on rocks surrounded by a wild surf and thunderously crashing waves on a nearly-deserted beach north of Santa Cruz.'

Despite having moved to California at the start of the year, Bond remains one of the studio's favorite models to work with. The late spring shoot was one of three shoots they still managed to get in during the past year. The shoots took place both in California and back in New York and FH readers were given sneak peak of Bond's Beach shoot during my Last Gasp of Summer series. Bond looks right at home within his new environment and has never looked so at ease in front of the camera. Not matter where NMS shoots him, the studio, the streets of New York, a farm or the beach, a pool or in an apple orchard, Bond manages to beautifully tap into the feel of his surrounds and beautifully interacting with and within them.

'On a second trip to California this fall we were able to bring Bond back to the same orchard at harvest time. In the crystalline light of fall and with air redolent of apples we captured a series of images that appeared almost allegorical in nature. The viewer can decide. Who was in the orchard? Adam or William Tell?'

'We were able to shoot Bob back in New York again, in mid-summer, when he returned for a wedding. However, it was pretty obvious by then that New York had lost yet another native son to the California sun. When we worked with him again in October, it was obvious that Bob was a natural for California. It fits him like a glove.'

'Being a native of California who has spent his entire adult life in New York City, I was reminded of a couple of truisms I learned years ago: first, the grass is always greener on the other side of the continent. And secondly, Californians (like New Yorkers) can be born anywhere. It just takes some of us longer to get here.'

Not only is Bond one the studio's favorite models to shoot, he is also one of my favorite models to feature. Bond dives into his work with energy and a great sense of fun. This translates beautifully within his work to those enjoying the finished results. Bond's look has changed slightly over the time I have featured his work with NMS, but his enthusiasm for the work, and the process has only become stronger. I can never get enough of Bond's face face and devilish grin and incredibly hot bod, which Bond knows perfectly how to move and work for the camera. Despite all of the natural beauty within the apple orchard, I am not sure any can compete or are as breath taking as Bond's magnificent backside between the apple trees.

More of Bond’s images can be found at New Manhattan Studios, along with the studio’s work with over 50 additional models. Also check out a video preview for California Dreaming. California Dreaming is the focus of Captured Shadows, a new magazine from NMS available in print or download versions. The first issue is devoted to Bond's California shoot with tons of new images not shown here, many of which are UNCENSORED and only available for readers of the magazine!

Robert Downey Jr. in Home For The Holidays

I have always been a little hot & cold when it comes to actor Robert Downey Jr. I have always thought of him as attractive, but I was never really attracted to him. (nor him to me I suspect..) I have always found him incredibly talented, yet rarely enjoyed many of his movies. I liked some of his turns in the 80's and 90's, especially Less Than Zero and Soapdish, but I have never been drawn to any of the Iron Man movies, or Avenger related films.

That all changed last weekend when I finally sat and watched Jodie Foster's 1995 film Home For the Holidays. I had known of the film for awhile, but for some reason never watched. The Thanksgiving themed film brings the incredible Holly Hunter back home after losing her job to spend the holiday with her family. The entire cast is superb, Holly, Anne Bancroft and Dylan McDermott. I especially loved the performances by Charles Durning and Cynthia Stephenson who was both unlikable and heartbreaking at the same time.

I was also for the first time, physically attracted to Robert Downey Jr. I don't think it's just because he was homo for the holidays, Robert has played gay before. But his character, and his relationships with those around him was incredibly appealing. It also might have been that hair, and those sexy bangs that were all over his face.

I loved how Foster, with just a few scenes, gave Robert such beautifully well developed relationships with all those around him, from such different connections with each of his two sisters, to his quietly sweet relationship with his father. When it comes down to Thanksgiving movies, there are not a lot out there. Trains Planes and Automobiles being the most well known. Home for the Holidays is going to be on my Holiday watch list and look forward to another viewing, on another Thanksgiving a few years from now.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Although not every country celebrates Thanksgiving on the same day, and with the same traditions, as the United States, most have a holiday sometime during Autumn to celebrate, and give thanks for, the many blessings of Harvest. Some countries, like Canada and Germany, had their celebrations already in October, most others celebrate in November, or another date near the time of the Harvest moon.

Sending well wishes to all who pop into FH each week.  To those celebrating in the US today, and to those who have already given thanks,  Happy Thanksgiving!

Anthology: DirtRoad by Noplacia Photography

Reading was one of my passions when I was a kid. I went to our local book mobile each week and always ended up walking home with a handful of books. My family's home though wasn't really book heavy, unless you count the Funk & Wagnalls in the rec room. My great aunt and uncle however, had a book filled home. Every room seemed to have shelves and bookcases filled with novels, reference, travel and photo books. Their only child had died 20 years early at just 17. His room remained, well his, filled with all of his things, including the the books he read has kid. I remember my aunt loving that I always wanted to go in that room. Dispute it creeping me out a bit, I was fascinated by his vast collection of books and magazines.

From the Roots Up!

It was in that room that I first learned what an anthology was. Mixed within his collection were various anthology's, featuring multiple stories on a similar theme. They weren't short stories, but full novels that publishers tied to together in collections to appeal to young readers. There were adventure anthology's, western anthology's, science fiction anthology's and collections on almost any theme that might stimulate a young mind.

Anthology's appealed to readers who liked a certain subject, or in some cases a certain writer or genre of writing. Although the stories were different, the were often similar themes weaved throughout varying multiple stories. FH is a collection of stories of sorts, visual stories told mostly through imagery. The artists and models most skilled at telling a story, painting a picture and tapping into an emotion are always my favorite to feature.

Model Warren Russell, (DirtRoad) has been one of my favorite storytellers to chronicle since first finding his work a couple of years ago. DirtRoad's work with photographer Gary Larson, is always a favorites, and always a page turner. I knew I wanted to include another of Warren's stories this week and when I began to choose which images, many of my favorite tales, especially The Cock & The Kitty, were told in collaboration with Gary. Although I often write about process and story, I think this trilogy of tales, visually tells the story without the need for any other words me.

Last month, photographer Brett Kiellerop shared some Behind The Scenes shots (and video) of his work with Brad.  Brad was one of several models Brett featured in his incredible compilation book, Aussie Gods.

Today, I am please to present the behind the scenes story of Brett's work with Daine, a model I featured in two pieces featured on the blog last Autumn. (Anti-Thematic& Leatherface) Head on over to The Over-Flow to catch some behind the scenes images and video, and check out how all of Daine's body paint finally came off...

A Sunday Return: Eric by Hans Fahrmeyer

I can't think of any better way to end 'Thanks for Giving' week that featuring artist Hans Fahrmeyer's work with Eric. FH readers remember that starting with Rowan back in 2009, most Sunday's on FH, for the next 5 years, featured Hans colorful, erotic and sexually charged imagery.

German-born Fahrmeyer settled in New York in 1984 and since then has not only captured some of the cities hottest men, but also the cities vibrant, and sometimes underground, sexual energy. Regardless of how Hans chooses to edit or present the models he shoots, there is a raw honesty within his work that both illuminates and uncovers.

While some photographers try to beautify and smooth out rough edges, Hans strives to tap into them, bringing out a sexual urgency unique to Hans work. When I see a model shot by Hans, I usually see something unique brought out, something others may brush over, Hans taps into and brings to life.

For 21 year old model Eric, that is most definitely his erupting sensuality. As a personal trainer and fitness model, Eric's focus is usually form, but in this set of images the New York based model taps into his sensuous side, with his teasingly tempting poses and seductive brown eyes.

Import Of The Day: Yoav Reuveni

At the recommendation of a friend, I watched the 2013 Israeli film Snails In The Rain last night. I am not sure it was me, or the copy I ordered, but I couldn't for the life of me find a way to get the subtitles to turn on. It didn't end up mattering much.

The film's theme is longing and unfulfilled desire and it's lead, the incredibly beautiful model turned actor Yoav Reuveni. Yoav is memorizing on screen, his face and eyes I could stare at and into forever. Even without understanding the words, first time film director Yariv Mozer knew that with Yoav as the lead, desire was inevitable. Yoav is shirtless a lot in the film and although there are a couple nude butt scenes, both are quite dark.

The movie is filmed with on 'longing' scene after another. Yoav's Boaz staring longingly at others, and everyone he meet it seems, both men and women, become infatuated with him. It is no wonder, I became instantly infatuated with Yoav, but sadly, Snails in the Rain seems his one and only film so far. Hopefully we will see him back on the screen again soon.

I never watched The Colby's, I have never been ahuge fan of most of Aaron Spelling's projects. (not mention Charlton Heston who sort of shot down any interest...) But, it's recent DVD release, and this promo pic with shirtless Maxwell Caulfield, not to mention those legs... might have me give it a look.

Blast From The Past: Down The Hatch!

I had never really been Hatched. Although I was too young to really watch it when it aired, when I was about 10, I picked up a couple of episodes of the classic 70's version of Battlestar Galactica on VHS. I loved it, practically wearing out the tape. Years later I bought the box set on DVD, but have yet to watch all of the episodes I missed when I was a kid.

I wasn't really drawn to Richard Hatch's Apollo, I preferred me a little Starbuck. Years later, when watching the phenomenal television adaptation, I did love me some Apollo, but it was Jamie Bamber in the role this time. Richard Hatch also made several appearances, but again he didn't initially make much of an impression. Recently, mastercapper Dewey posted some caps from Richard's 1985 turn in the straight to video flick Heated Vengeance. This time Hatch, and his meaty hind quarters had me taking a second look.

Search for good material on the net, especially images, is woefully frustrating for Mr. Hatch. Most searches, especially if you include the word 'naked' bring forth far too many naked images of certain Survivor winner. That Hatch should have had to change his name, as he is now calling himself an 'actor' and there is little to separate the two when searching.

Richard with Howard Cosell (and his speedos) on Battle Of The Network Stars

With a little work I was able to come up with some fun images and a new found appreciation for the once ignored Captain on the Galactica. I can't believe I didn't initially notice Hatch's beautiful strong face, eyes and lips. The actor has continued working steadily both in front of, and behind the camera and hosts a weekly radio show entitled Love on the Edge.

Below: Richard with Doug Chapin in Best Friends (1975)

Richard began his career on stage with the Los Angeles Repertory Theatre and went on to work on the stages of New York. I believe the images below, from a 1974 issue of After Dark Magazine, are from a production of The Woyzeck Follies.

Tip of the Hat: Marc-Williams by JBDI Photography

With the internet full of great looking models, highly skilled photographers and incredible images, it is always interesting to discover why one photo grabs your attention and stands out above all of the others. When I find a photographer or model and see an image that causes me to pause and react in some way, I become determined. That was exactly what happened when I saw the second to last image at the bottom of this piece.

27 year old South Derbyshire model Marc-Williams has many stand out qualities that would have one stop and take a second look. His incredible body, great face and hair and his beautifully intense and deep blue eyes. Although those qualities were certainly not lost on me, in that first image it was not just his face and physique that had me taking a second look, it was also his hat.

Marc has a very strong presence in front of the camera, something Jon from JBDI Photography utilized perfectly within their work together. Marc has something a lot of models struggle to achieve, and that's directness. Many models, especially those new, or not completely comfortable with shooting fully nude, sometimes pull back, almost hiding from the camera they are standing naked in front of. Marc stares directly into Jon' lens, his piercing blue eyes strong, confident and bold.

Jon had seen quite a bit of Marc's work with various photographers on Model Mayhem and shares that he too was always struck by Marc's incredible looks and physique. Jon sent Marc a message to see if he might be interested in a fitness/nude shoot and received a positive response back. After a few bumps trying to arrange dates and travel, they managed to get together for a shoot this past October.

'Marc’s got a great combination of masculinity and sensitivity and I think we achieved a some really sexy, arty shots.'

Jon says the hat was just one of the many props lying around his studio and without any planning, he simply suggested Marc try it on for size. The hat was one of a few props used for the shoot but for this shoot, the focus was primarily Marc. Jon's knowledge of stance, angle and pose comes from personal experience. Jon's been running a part-time photographic business for the last few years, mostly specialising in actor and business headshots. His interest in the male nude started with his experimenting with nude self portraits, some which are posted on his MM page. Through his self portraits, Jon was able to try different lighting, poses and techniques, some of which he also learned from his time as a life model for art classes.

After joining a couple of photographic and model networking sites, (Model Mayhem and Purpleport) Jon started asking male (and occasionally female) models to pose. 'The problem became finding a studio to hire where there was privacy to allow the models and myself to feel comfortable.' Earlier this year however, Jon took on a studio share with another photographer and was able to have total privacy along with a flexible booking schedule. Jon then began inviting models that he had admired, and that were located near him to shoot. 'In the last 6 - 8 months I've had the privilege of working with some great models including; Adam Coussins, Alex Banks, Marc and others. I've also had the opportunity to become more creative with studio lighting and the depiction of the male nude.'

'The most surprising thing about being in the calendar has been how comfortable I've become at being naked now!'

And naked Will very much is, though much of the two 'behind the scenes' videos of the making of this years Warwick Rowing Calendar. Will is tall, dark and adorable with a great face, adorable grin, a killer body and tons of confidence. Will was definitely blessed in the genetics department and around the stables, certainly holds his own...

Every year I am drawn to a rower, (or two) and this years team has not shortage of great looking guys to hold your interest. Will is definitely a stand out, but all of the rowers are not only kind and giving, open and generous, they are all completely naked for all to enjoy. I might have a new favorite to share next week, and another the week after that... If you haven't ordered your video, calendar or Rowers product yet, you're missing out on one of the projects best years yet!
