Naked Is the Best Disguise: Casey & AR by NickS82 and qudosimage

'No mask like open truth to cover lies,
As to go naked is the best disguise.'
William Congreve, The Double Dealer(1694)

Trying new ideas and concepts is essential to the creative process. We have all seen images from photographers who use the same set up colors and poses with every model they shoot. I can't help but think how monotonous that must become. With FH now ten, it is discovering new models and artists, and finding new ways to present their work, that keep me motivated and excited.

This series of images is rooted in the trying of new things. FH know the work of photographer NickS82, whose images I have previously featured many times. I have mostly showcased Nick's work with individual models, but Nick has an extensive portfolio of couples images as well. As you can see, Casey and AR are not your typical couple, and the resulting shots are not your typical couple themed images.

Nick was looking to try a new concept, different than the way he usually captures his couples. This is where Brian from qudosimage comes in. Normally shooting fashion, Brian too, was looking to try something different and had never done a couple shoot before. Brian and Nick had decided a while ago to collaborate on Brian's first duo shoot, and were just waiting for the right time, and the right two models.

Choosing the two models proved a bit different than choosing models for a regular couple shoot. Given the 'theatrical' theme, it was important to find models who could embrace the concept. It was Brian who spotted Casey, a model and dancer from London. Casey (in make-up and Mohawk) had a great look, and had experience shooting both nude, as well as with Goth, Alternative, Fetish and Erotic themes. Like Nick and Brian, Casey was also excited about trying something different and new.

Casey and AR getting some direction from Brian from qudosimage

Nick wanted someone equally 'theatrical' to be matched with Casey for the shoot. That ended up being AR, but AR came with a catch. Theatrical he is, being a professional actor and dancer in London. Being a professional actor however, meant that exposing everything might be a bit risky, hence the disguise. What could be more dramatic though than a theatrical mask. Make-up and masks are important pieces of theatre history, and masks were often used as symbols going back to ancient Greece during the golden age, around 300 BC

Putting two naked and sexy men together would seem made for an erotic shoot. The eroticism captured however, was entirely unintended. The shoot was initially based in pose, body lines and movement and looking for various creative ways to capture the make-up wearing Casey, and the masked AR in various non-sexual poses together. The eroticism that comes through, (and up) in some of the shots is something Nick says wasn't intentional, but simply the result of putting two naked bodies together. 'AR's semi-erection was just an unplanned event, a natural evolution of the shoot I suppose you could say.'

Intentional or not, Casey's make-up, and especially AR's mask have a strong erotic element, similar to the feel of images of a CMNM (clothed male/naked male) themed shoot. There is vulnerability to being the only one naked when the model you're shooting with is clothed. Although in this case, both models are physically naked, AR's mask adds that element of vulnerability, and of mystery to the final images. Although in make-up, and exposed both physically and emotionally, it is Casey that has most the control. AR, behind the mask, is hidden emotionally, creating a level of erotic risk that adds to the enjoyment of the images.

The Tony's are over, but Broadway Bares is coming up on June 18th! Every year at this time I try to find some of the hottest, and most talented actors, singers and dancers who will be hitting the stage. One of the Strip U students I have been following down the hallways is actor and dancer Zach Williams.

The Texas native attended Florida State University majoring in Musical Theater which led to turns in many productions including; Cabaret, A Chorus Line, Billy Elliott, Legally Blonde, White Christmas and How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Zach is incredibly sexy, especially his chest hair which drives me wild! Zach's dance background also plays a big part of how incredible some of his modeling shots with pose and movement.

You can check out much more of Zach on his Instagram HERE: or check out his official site HERE: You can also support Zach at Strip U by donating to his Stripathon page for Broadway Bares, benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS HERE:

'I demand a Best Chest Hair award next year!'

I have to agree with actor Andy Mientus who tweeted out the quote above when Corey Cott hit the stage during last night's Tony Awards. Corey, along with Laura Osnes and the cast of Bandstand performed Nobody from the Tony nominated musical. I have to admit, as great as the shows company were, Corey's open shirt had me admiring his healthy dose of sexy chest hair.

I first took notice of the adorable Corey awhile ago after seeing images on his younger brothers Instagram. I love me some Casey Cott, (Kevin on Riverdale) and the proud brother often posted shots of his older brother and his various stage roles. I especially liked their Christmas Pajama images, a gift from their Grandma they graciously modeled.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Tony's this year. Kevin Spacey got a bit of slack, but I thought he did a decent job. The opening went on too long, but his impressions were spot on, and his appearances were actually quite limited once the show got going. I would have loved a James Corden return, I much preferred Spacey over yet another appearance from the camera mugging Neil Patrick Harris. Unlike other award shows, especially the Golden Globes, the Tony host is really not that important. The Tony's are about the shows, and this years crop of musicals, and the numbers performed, made for a really great show.

Reckless Abandon: Jack by JBDI Photography

'The abandoned mill has been an eyesore and magnet for vandals.'

When starting to piece together this feature, I started with a quick google search of the shoot's location, The Harford Mill in Oldham, located approximately six miles orth of Manchester. The first news story that popped up, was the Oldham Chronicle piece that I quoted above. I am sure newspaper the writer may have wanted readers to concentrate on the words eyesore or vandals, but it was the word abandoned that really struck me.

One of the reasons building and locations become eyesores is because humans stop caring. When Government and/or business, fail to financially support their upkeep, they become unsafe and uninhabitable and then eventually abandoned. Some of my favorite pieces on FH involved artists and models who breath life into long forgotten and abandoned spaces. Spaces that once were filled with love, laughter and life. Space that provided a livelihood for thousands of people over the years, and memories, both good and painful for those who passed through.

There is something almost spiritual in nature about how an image can revive a long forgotten and abandoned location. This is especially true when the image is a young model, full of life and energy interacts with the space. For the brief time the model and photographer are present, the location again is given homage and respect and most of all, given a purpose briefly once again.

The last time I featured the work of JBDI Photography (Ouse Valley Viaduct) Jon shared his work with Beau at another Victorian location, the Victorian brick arches which support the main train line running between London and the South Coast in the UK. The arches however are not abandoned, thousands travel over them by train each and every day. Given the time they were built, here are still architectural similarities with lines and arches and of course the incredibly beautiful brick work. Jon shares his experience at the Mill corroborates the Chronicles description of the location.

'It’s unfortunately totally derelict, having suffered many fires and repeated vandalism over the last 20 years. It has been due for demolition for the last couple of years. It’s one of the many Victorian Mills that were so typical of the skyline in the north in England up until the 1960s - you can see what they used to look like from the famous L.S.Lowry paintings.'

Although the rotting wood, peeling paint and ravages of time are evident in Jon's shots, with Jack as the focus, there is beauty in faded colors, textures and deterioration that surrounds him. Jon and Jack shot throughout the Mills four accessible floor, all which are supported by those rusting iron pillars and a massive mill chimney that sours upward. I especially love when a model touches, feels and interacts with their location and love the images Jon created through Jack's interaction with the building and location.

'Jack is a competitive runner and was a great model to shoot. He wasn’t bothered about the challenging location which has to be accessed through broken security fences and piles of dumped rubbish. He’s got a body that is very lean and suits art nude as well as more glamorous nude shots.'

Jack has been modeling for about four years, and has been working on expanding the diversity with his portfolio. His work with Jon certainly provides a great array of strong fashion, fitness and body shots. The 22 year old Liverpool model has a great look and being a competitive runner, has a great overall physique. I specially love his his long lean legs, and, given it's the UK... his beautifully shaped arse. I also love Jack's auburn hair and his strong, piercing green eyes. I love how they contrast and highlight the colors all around him.

'The Better to Eat you With...'

If you haven't checked out TylertheBadWolf recently, you have been missing some salivating updates. In addition to his summer travel schedule and blog, Tyler Dårlig Ulv's gallery was just updated this month featuring a sultry new shoot, some of which I have included here. Although modeling is not his primary occupation, Tyler exudes an intense sensuality in front of the camera that can't be ignored. Tyler's images have the power to draw out even the most isolated of creatures out from their lair.

Happy Birthday Mark-Eugene Garcia!

Although today's posts are dated June 14th, as I often do, I am posting the night before. Therefore, it's not too late to send birthday wishes to actor, writer and model Mark-Eugene Garcia! I have featured Mark-Eugene's work several times the past year and in the first piece (Teller of the Tales) included a few shots from photographer Rico Kinnard. Given it's Mark's birthday, I went back and found a few more favorites from the shoot that I didn't have room to include in the first piece.

The Graduate: Shannon Simmons by Chris A Freeman

'Shannon came to the shoot with a cap and gown and diploma, ready to take some graduation photos you probably wouldn't show your grandmother.'

In addition to the official start of summer, the month of June also means the end of the school year, proms and Graduation ceremonies. For FH, it also means keeping an eye out for hot and talented graduates. Model Shannon Simmons certainly fits the bill on both counts, a talented musician, Shannon has been performing since the age of 13 and credits the Theatre for helping him find his creed.

'Shannon is all about music, so much so that he brought several instruments to the shoot with him. His favorite is the Sousaphone, but it was a bit cumbersome to carry from his SUV to the deck on the apartment where we were shooting.'

With all the pomp and circumstance involved in Graduations today, sometimes the ceremonies go on for hours and hours. Given he's just 20, Shannon's graduation wasn't that long ago, so he remembers that when standing for hours under the hot and muggy June sun.... wearing a little as possible under that bulky gown is a wise move. As you can see, our graduate has a incredible body, but I think that it's his beautiful brown eyes and that killer smille that really drew me in.

Shannon has a great energy and photographer Chris Freeman perfectly captured the magic of Shannon's personality and essence beyond his smokin hot physique. His experience on stage has obviously given Shannon a confidence and ease in front of the lens which translates into fun and sexy fearlessness that Chris' images beautifully display and exhibit.

'Shannon arrived on a COLD day in New Orleans, but undaunted, he made himself naked on a deck in about 50 degrees with no sun. A brave soul, he is. He wanted to capture a graduation theme--his idea, so he came with cap and gown and diploma, ready to take some graduation photos you probably wouldn't show your grandmother. . .or your mother, for that matter.'

''Shannon was not a bit shy during the shoot. He seemed to be more comfortable with less clothes on, though, admittedly, toward the end, the cold started to have its effect. Still, he held in there, aided by a cup of hot tea. One of the most interesting things about Shannon is the million facial expressions he can come up with. It seemed that we could have shot a thousand photos and every one of them would have had some nuance different in his facial expression. On top of being very photogenic and generous with his attractiveness, Shannon is a genuinely warm and personable human being. For anyone shooting in New Orleans, I highly recommend you look him up!'

'One of those southern boys with eyes the color of Coca-Cola'

I love the quote from writer Andrew Holleran that photographer Michal Boothe chose to describe Max's eyes. Coca-Cola not only expresses a color, but also a place, time and even a vibe. Today, most people just use 'Coke' when describing the dark cola beverage. Using Coca-Cola however, conjures up long hot summers from the past. Southern boys drinking tall, frosty, ice filled glasses full of cola to quench their thirst. Many of us grew up watching commercials with Coca-Cola being the only way and the only beverage, to really beat the heat.

When I think of 'Coke' I think of the vibrant red which is now used sell the product. When I think of Cola-Cola, I think of the rich golden brown color that used to fill my glass. Coca-Cola had a caramel shimmer, an almost magical sheen that made it seem extra special. Although we now know that sheen was chemically created, it didn't take away from how much most of us loved it when we were younger. Although I don't drink much soda these days,I remember when I was kid, a tall glass Coca-Cola  meant a celebration, birthday or special occasion.

'Max is completely comfortable in front of a camera, I have shot with him several times and he has become one of my favorite models He has beautiful skin - the kind the seems to have no pores and to quote Andrew Holleran... 'he is one of those" southern boys with eyes the color of Coca Cola'.

With those few descriptive sentences, Michal said so much about his experience shooting Max. Not just about his eyes and skin, but also how he presented and the richness he captured during the shoot. Despite a difficult childhood,  Max always pushed himself toward success. His first love is music, especially hip hop, and Max taught himself to play the piano and guitar. The 26 year old is also the founding partner in a local music production company.

I love Max's look, those golden brown eyes, his expressive face and hot lean body. I don't usually mention a model's penis, but Max does have.... an especially photogenic one. Given He mentioned it himself, (see below) I thought it it appropriate to note it's undeniable visual appeal. Michal reports that Max did being a page and profile for Model Mayhem, but sadly never finished it. Maybe, if his images are well received, Max may go back and finish. I think there are many photographers who would love to work with Max.

In order help get to know a bit about the men he shoots, Michal has begun asking them to fill out a questionnaire to get a little insight into the person inside the naked body we are viewing and enjoying. Like Vanity Fair's Proust Questionnaire, it is always fascinating to see how people perceive themselves, and given they're posing nude, how they feel about their body and their thoughts on how their images might be received. Below are some of Max's responses.

If asked, who are you, how you would answer or define yourself?
An artistic character with an eclectic style

How do you see yourself?
Beautiful, inside and out

Are you secure in your physical image
Yes

What is your favorite part of your body?
My abs and my penis

Being seen nudes make you think or feel...?
Great, nostalgic

Why do you think you feel comfortable nude?
I'm comfortable with my body and am a sensual person

What drives you
My visions and goals in life

How do you imagine your future?
Successful and fun

What is your definition of Beauty?
Someone who has a colorful soul

Do you fear the physical changes of getting older?
Of course!
