The Men of Beautiful Girls

'No mater how perfect the nipple, how supple the thigh, unless there is some other shit going on in the relationship, besides the physical, it's going to get old, ok? And you guys, as a gender, have got to get a grip. Otherwise, the future of the human race is in jeopardy.'
Gina, Beautiful Girls

Arquette, Hutton and Annabeth Gish

Rosie O'Donnell's speech, while talking, talking and shopping, is one of many great scenes, and one of many great pieces of dialogue in 1996 Beautiful Girls. The underrated film is loved by many, but also tends to get ignored when talk of great movies from the 90's comes up.

The all star cast features Timothy Hutton, Matt Dillon, Natalie Portman, Rosie O'Donnell, Michael Rapaport, Max Perlich, Uma Thurman, Mira Sorvino, Annabeth Gish, Martha Plimpton, Anne Bobby, David Arquette and Noah Emmerich.

The entire cast is stellar, especially Emmerich and Rapaport who were outstanding, and the most interesting to me. In the era of Weinstein, looking back at certain films without judgement is going to be difficult, but I hope that we can. Certainly there are dynamics in many films we do and should cringe at, but there are others, we should view in context.

Hutton, Dillon and Rosie O'Donnell

I especially love the relationship between Hutton's Willie and Portman's Marty, even though she is only 13. It's inappropriate, yet innocent and both a bit confusing and sweet. It's also beautifully acted by both, and triggers relatable moments I know we have all experienced.

Max Perlich and Noah Emmerich

Dillon and Hutton are as hot as ever and Emmerich adorable, but the hunky standout for me is Michael Rapaport. I have always found Rapaport attractive, and incredibly talented but never more so than in this flick. He is especially smouldering when dancing with Uma Thurman, while at the same time, shooting looks his ex.(Martha Plimpton) If I had been getting those looks, it would have been hard to resist shoving Uma aside and joining him on the dance floor.

Rapaport with Uma Thurman

If you haven't seen Beautiful Girls, or haven't seen it in awhile, I suggest a re-watch. I have it on my DVR after it aired on the movie channel a month ago. The burst of winter we got last week made it a perfect weekend film escape. In the meantime, here is a look at a few of the guys from Beautiful Girls and some of previous scenes of skin.

Usually I can track down most movies, but I couldn't find a decent copy of The Naked Man to save my life. I did find and old cap someone (Dewey?) made.

In Good Hands: Graham by Chris Freeman

'The shoot was scheduled a couple weeks prior to Halloween, so pumpkins were, necessarily, part of the shoot. That may not fit in much with this post-Thanksgiving blog, but it reflects the time of year Graham and I worked together.'

One of the biggest headaches after Halloween and Thanksgiving is getting rid of all the pumpkins and gourds that decorated your home. Most of us throw them in the compost or garbage, but when you can, the best thing to do is to throw them in the woods as they make a delicious snacks for wildlife. So why is FH giving out post Thanksgiving pumpkin tips, well... because pumpkins played a large role in my reaching out Chris Freeman about his work with Graham.

The first image of Graham that I saw was Chris' shot below of Chris with the pumpkins. I originally planned on featuring this set around Thanksgiving, but since I am a stickler about not just posting images, but including a story about their creation, it took a little time to pull things together. I was going to tuck away the pumpkin photos til next year, but as is my pattern, I can't resist featuring images and shoots that I like as soon as I am able. Like those pumpkins in the forest, Graham is a tasty treat, especially during those blah days at Autumn's end, the time between Thanksgiving and the build up towards Christmas.

Graham has such a strong presence in front of Chris' lens and immediately grabs the viewers attention with his striking good looks and piercing blue eyes. As an actor, Graham is clearly skilled at grabbing an audiences attention, and seems to understand the need to seize it immediately which he certainly did with me. A recent theatre graduate, Graham is currently hitting the stage nightly as both an actor and dancer.

'When Graham arrived for the shoot in my Airbnb apartment, he seemed completely comfortable (perhaps ready for a performance, so to speak). Within minutes, it seemed we were at it, shooting several nude poses around the apartment. Admittedly, this was my first time using my new LED light, so we were experimenting a big. Nonetheless, it seems we were able to capture several photos worthy of the time invested. As you can see, Graham is in great shape. A young, fit dancer, with a very nicely proportioned, though not overly "gymnatized" physique. He was so easy going and congenial through the whole shoot, I would love the opportunity to shoot with him again.'

The comfortably Chris noted is evident in this set of images, especially given his was Graham's first-ever nude shoot. Although there was no intention initially to veer towards the erotic, Chris shares that Graham was excited to start creating and and Chris went with the spontaneous elements that arose. I love the feel of Graham's quiet evening at home, with the light and shadow as the evening fights it's transition towards night. Hanging out enjoying the solitude and possibly getting a little inspired while reading his Fitzgerald biography..

'I was a little nervous going into the shoot since I’ve never done a nude shoot, but after reading comments on Chris’s Model Mayhem page I figured I was in good hands. I’m also not very shy about body so that definitely helped when it came time to strip down. During the shoot Chris was very relaxed and made me feel very comfortable. He also was great at giving me direction and let me give input on the shots.'

Side of the Road: Ash Marquez by Mark Leighton

'I first shot Ash Marquez in June 2015. He had just started modeling and although by no means shy, he vastly underestimated his looks and the impact his images could have on people.'

Mark's images of 23 year old model Ash Marquez certainly had an impact on me. From the first moment I saw their work together, I was eager to put together a feature for FH. I am clearly not alone, as Ash is one of the sites's most searched models. The blue eyed blonde UK model has a tight athletic build and seemly boundless energy that leaps off the pages ofThe Journey, Mark's photo book devoted to his work with Ash.

When I profiled Mark's book earlier this year, I of course had to put in a great deal of time and research to showcase some of my favorite images. Two of my favorite sections in The Journeyfeature Ash on an isolated country road. In one section he is just wearing only a pair of jeans, which of course come off, leaving Ash on the road wearing nothing at all.

I especially loved this set, with Ash in his ripped jeans shorts, alone with his knapsack. Ash looks like a student traveling, lowering his jean shorts, maybe to help ensure he gets a ride. When I told Mark I liked the shots from this set, he kindly edited more from the series for me to feature.

I love the story that Mark begins, a story with an ending, left to the viewers imagination. Why is Ash on that road wearing next to nothing? Where is he going and does he ever end up there. Does he get picked up, and if so, by who? Or...maybe Ash isn't looking for a ride, maybe he already had one and the images are just after he was dropped off... You can see more (all) of Mark's stories about Ash in The JourneyHERE:

12 Days: Paul Greene, The Cary Grant of Hallmark

'With six movies for the Hallmark Channel to his credit (and a regular role on the network’s series When Calls the Heart), the charismatic Canadian considers himself a lucky man. All of this happened in just a few years, giving Greene a reputation as the network’s resident Cary Grant.'

Every December, one of my favorite parts of working on FH is 12 Days. I have discovered many great actors, and many hot men, while checking out festive films in the lead up to Christmas. I haven't seen any Christmas movies yet this year, until this past weekend. While visiting family over the weekend, the Hallmark movie 'Christmas in Angel Falls' was playing quietly (loudly) in the background. I was attempting to have a conversation with my younger brother, but as most of us have experienced while visiting family, loud TV is common in many of our parents homes.

Of course I only watched a few minutes, I did notice a certain hottie I wanted to learn more about. Although my taste in holiday movies has changed over the last few years, I am mostly drawn to older holiday flicks, that didn't stop me from DVRing a repeat airing of the movie when I got back home. That certain hottie was actor Paul Greene, an actor I should have, but hadn't seen before.

In addition to his work on Hallmark, Greene has been in many TV shows in movies, including the show Bitten, I have had on my list to watch for awhile. Seeing a few of his nude scenes from the show, it will now move up the queue. Greene was also fun to research as his social media pages, especially his facebook, are full of hot shots of Greene, hanging out relaxing, and working out to maintain a body ready for his shirtless close-ups. 'Christmas in Angel Falls' was ok, usual Hallmark fare, a small town, an Angel and of course romance. Not really that memorable, except of course, as my introduction to Mr. Greene.

Hanging with The Goldbergs

Sean Giambrone

For some reason I was never drawn to The Goldbergs. I saw commercials for the show, but motivated to watch until last month. I caught the Halloween episode and found myself enjoying the 80's references, the characters and how relatable the family is to my own. Since then, I have been catching repeats now that the ABC comedy is in syndication.

Giambrone with Kenny Ridwan (Dave Kim) and Jacob Hopkins (Chad Kremp)

Now you might initially think the show wouldn't the place place to find subjects for FH, but you would be wrong. Stars Sean Giambrone (Adam) and Troy Gentile (Barry) are both adorable, and although Giambrone is now 18, is a little too young looking for my tastes. There is a character known for dropping his pants and hanging out in his tighty whities and another character named 'naked Rob', but the tighy whities are on Dad (Jeff Garlin), and I have yet to see Rob actually live up to his nick name.

Sam Lerner, Giabrone and Troy Gentile

That's not to say there aren't a few hunks if you look closely. Barry has a group of friends, and oldest daughter Erica has had a few boyfriends and dates that caught my eye. Within the group, there were a few models and familiar faces, some in recurring roles, some with quick 'blink and you'll miss them' cameos. I have put together a small list of some of my favorites below.

Niko Guardado

Niko Guardado played Rubén Amaro Jr. in a handful of episodes. Rubén is that guy in high school who everyone, both male and female, loves and looks up to. The sports hero, the hunky stud walking through the school hallways in his crop top, flashing just enough stomach to have you craving to see more.

Zach Callison, Guardado and Zayne Emory

Tyler Stokes

Across the street from the dysfunctional Goldberg family live the Kremps. The Kremps are the perfect family, all good looking, like a Stepford family. Tom Cavanagh plays the hot dad and Jacob Hopkins as the youngest son Chad. Model Tyler Stokes (above) plays the oldest Kremp, Drew who Erica crushed over in a few episodes.

Griffin Freeman

Actor Griffin Freeman, who I featured after his naked run in the film Paper Towns (HERE:) had a quick cameo as Laniney' sexy cousin Nate

Lerner, Noah Munch and Matt Bush

Barry's crew includes Sam Lerner, (Geoff Noah Munch, ('Naked' Rob) Matt Bush (Andy) and Shayne Topp (Matt)

Shayne Topp

Geoff (Sam Lerner) with Erica (Hayley Orrantia)

Talented actor Sam Lerner is my favorite hotties who hangs out around the Goldberg house. As Barry's best friend and Erica's nervous boyfriend, Lerner is a great combination of goofy and sexy. Lerner continues one of Hollywood's long held traditions of having 25 year olds in the role of high school students.

Santa's 'little' Helper: Nick by Richard Rothstein

Naughty is the new nice!

To celebrate his first Holiday in his new apartment, Richard Rothstein called upon Nick, one FH's favorite elves, to help with decking the halls, trimming the tree, not to mention the spreading of the spirit. The last time we saw our sexy North Pole dweller was last month when he and his buddy John were spreading joy to many weary travelers on the New York Subway. (Edge of the Platform)

Of course this being Richard, there is no need for elves to bother with wearing their elf boots, green suit and hat. Richard keeps his wintertime lair toasty warm, so even the Christmas sweaters end up quickly on the floor. Nick looks particularly festively fetching in his red and white flannel onesie, but like the holiday sweaters, it didn't stay on too long. After decking all those halls, Nick needed a rest, but for that, you'll have to wait until a little closer to Christmas.

I have often associated Richard's work with spring and summer, but as I was starting this piece, I was reminded that Richard's work has helped FH celebrate not only Christmas, but also many winter snow days over the last few years. From NY's Back Door Santa, to Tony's holiday sweater through Chris Bell's blizzardly ballet. You can check out all of Richard's work on FH, including his holiday themed shoots HERE:

Photo15: In the Company of Men

'I have recently started photographing men in groups, I find the challenge very interesting and enjoy seeing how total strangers relate to one another in this setting.'

The first image of artist Marc Geller's that I saw was the image that I used at the top of the site as the pic of the day. I love the entanglement Marc created, not just of naked bodies, but of naked emotion. I have often struggled with the way some photographers choose to shoot two or more models together, especially if those models happen to be men. Very often, the focus is on sexual power and aggression, ignoring the myriad of other emotions men both regularly experience and share .

Although the bodies in Marc's images are physically bound and connected, it is the spiritual and emotional connections that radiates most powerfully from his imagery. Beyond just erotic love, Marc has captured great moments of lust and yearning, passion and desire. The importance and appetite for the company of men is more than just a desire or need, but a necessary element for survival.

An accomplished actor and director, Marc is finishing off a busy and creative year. He recently received nominations for both his acting (The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife) and directing (& Juliet) in the BroadwayWorld New Jersey Awards. You can  see and feel the influence of theatre and drama within Marc's images.  Like any great theatre piece, they create captivating and engaging stories for the viewer to dive into and explore.

'As an actor and a director and I call upon my work as a director when working with models. I find it helps with putting models at ease and it also helps me to help them capture the emotions that I’m looking for.'

Marc is currently preparing for his upcoming role as The Ghost of Marley in 'A Christmas Carol' which is being staged at The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts in Worcester, Massachusetts. After the holidays, Marc heads to the Burning Coal Theatre, NC in January to portray Ned Weeks in 'The Normal Heart.'   Marc's artistic urges are not restricted to stage and screen.  About three years ago he expanded his artistic canvas, when he added photography to his extensive creative resume.

'I had images in my head that I wanted to get out, so I bought a camera and some lights and started teaching myself through trial and error. My early work had themes. Side Show, Alice in Wonderland, Evil Clowns.... It was very character based and used a lot of SFX make-up (which I also do) and costuming. As time has gone by it’s gotten much simpler. Very few costume pieces, no make-up and rarely a theme. I tend to concentrate on the male form. I’ve also starting doing some photography of unusual landscapes.'

Some of you may remember Marc's Evil Clowns from a piece I did introducing the New York artist's work on FH just before Halloween. (Red Noses, Rubber Chickens and Bloody Machetes) Marc's describes his aesthetic as dark, raw and sometimes disturbing. Despite the hot models and incredible bodies you see in this series of images, Marc says that ultimately, he's not 'after pretty'.  Instead, his goal is to capture something meaningful and above all truthful.

This search for truth is often visually bare and raw, and Marc's use of mostly shooting his series in black and white ads to the drama, pathos and ecstasy within his imagery. Although most of the models in the series posed fully naked, Marc has chosen not to include full frontal nudity. Instead, Marc uses the physical connections to represent the needs of the deeper emotional connections between, and expressed by the men.

'For lack of a better term I call it my 'In the Company of Men Series.' I find the challenge very interesting. I also enjoy seeing how total strangers relate to one another in this setting. I feel as though I’m developing a style and I like where it’s going. It’s ever evolving and I continue to learn with each shoot.'

One of Marc's mail goals is to capture unique images, shots unlike other within his models portfolios. Setting up shoots featuring two, three and four models however, does come with it's own set of challenges. In addition to scheduling, Marc has chosen never to use or to display any pictures that his models don't like or approve . Although this adds a level of complication, Marc also finds it a fun, and creative challenge to shoot images in which both he and each of the models featured, is both pleased and satisfied with.

12 Days: Andrew Walker in Dashing Through The Snow

This isn't the first time actor Andrew W. Walker showed up on list of 12 Days hotties. The first time was in 2014 for his Christmas flick A Bride For Christmas (HERE:) With Andrew's new holiday film, Snowed-In Christmas, airing next week, I am pretty sure it won't be his last.

This piece however, was inspired by my Monday late night watching of Andrew's 2015 Hallmark film, Dashing Through the Snow. The film was sort of a mash-up of a Christmas romance flick mixed with a sprinkle of your typical confused identity sit-com episode and a dash of the road trip in When Harry Met Sally. Add a cute puppy, some fake snow and a far too quick scene of Andrew shirtless, and you get the general idea.

The writing fro Dashing Through the Snow was pretty weak and the story not very compelling, but Andrew's performance had me stay up to finish. The Canadian born actor, and former football player is incredibly appealing on film, his smile and beautiful eyes have you hooked from his first second on screen. In addition to being incredibly sexy, Andrew has a bit of the Jimmy Stewart 'every man' quality that brings both warmth and humanity to his roles and movies.

I don't think Dashing Through the Snow would have worked without his skill and appeal. Just like Ashley, the female lead in the film, you fall in love with Andrew from the beginning, and it just grows with each mile the rental car to California takes. By the time they arrive, like Ashley, there's no turning back.
