'Soap operas have the same hypnotic power as witnessing clothes turning in a washing machine - if you don't look away quickly, you'll be watching until the end.'
Stewart Stafford

Until beginning FH, I never saw myself as a Soap Opera watcher, nor even really a fan.  Slowly however, with each soap hunk that I researched and featured, I realized how significant soaps had been throughout my life.  It began when I was very young.  My mother watched both Another World and Texas and every day after school, I'd come home, make a sandwich, and sit in the rec room as she watched her stories.

Although I didn't watch the entire hours, and missed many days, I soon knew the basic stories, and who was who, even if I couldn't remember their names.  When I was in Jr. High, I had a girlfriend who loved The Young & The Restless, I used to go to her house after school and watch, mostly on Fridays.  When I was in University, I worked night shifts and the woman I worked with used to bring in her VHS recordings of Santa Barbara and Days of our Lives.

I didn't continue watching the soap with any regularity, but did find myself tuning back in on sick days from work, and especially over the Christmas holidays.  There was something sort of comforting about checking out a soap family celebrating the holidays.  I started DVRing Days of Our Lives  for a short while after reading about Will's coming out story and still watch Days and Y & R once or twice a month, especially on a day off, or around the holidays.

I also check them out when I see a soap hunk I want to feature.  Many of you may remember there used to be an incredible site devoted to soap hunks that sadly long gone, but several of my favorite sites still cover the studs of soap land, and their many scenes of shirtlessness!  Playgirl featured many of these men, especially throughout the 90's and I've managed to find and feature most of the soap hunks Playgirl spreads on FH.   Seeing the cover of the Playgirl Soap Studs issue, had me searching for more, and featuring a few soap studs I not uncovered before.

Exemplum Perfectus: Justin by Hans Fahrmeyer

'Hans Fahrmeyer's images are bold, colorful and unabashedly sensual. The intent is to evoke desire, and the intention is there in the eyes of each model within every image.'

Since first featuring the work of New York based artist Hans Fahrmeyer back in 2009, FH has presented close to 100 different stories, and hundreds of models and shoots for the Sundays With Hans series..  Within those various features, I've tried many different ways, to put into words the erotic intensity I both see and feel within Hans' work.

'The energy is palatable and through his use of vibrant colors, uniquely body poses and positions, as well as his creative editing, Hans channels the energy into images drenched in both intensity and urgency.'

I don't think there's a more perfect example of what I love so much about Hans' work than this series with Justin.  Everything that I look for and love in Hans's images is illustrated in this shoot.  Energy and movement, dynamic colors, backgrounds and poses, erotic intensity, great lines, shapes, dance and boundary pushing and eye catching visuals.

Hans took full artistic advantage of Justin's sultry glare, great face, and sensual curves.  He also magnificently captured not only Justin's physical beauty, but his physical talents and abilities with dazzling and creative shots of Justin flying through the air.  Hans also captured some uniquely stunning and sexually charged angles and poses.  The perfect shoot, to illustrate what is so special, and why I'm so passionate about his work.

Checking In: Tyler Berta by PhotoRSH

I've never watched Paradise Hotel, but after seeing an image of the ultra hot Tyler Berta, I decided to check out his arrival at the hotel on Youtube. (below)  Tyler had me checking out the pilot and he didn't disappoint.

Tyler (on shoulders on right)

I haven't watched any additional episodes, but I noticed it's on My Demand, so Tyler may have me checking back in.  I usually don't like reality shows based on romance and relationships, but there was something rather addictive about the first episode that has me curious to who'll be with who as the series progresses.

Tyler by PhotoRSH

When I started looking for shots of Tyler for this piece, I noticed a few modeling shots on his Instagram.  My favorites, were all from photographer PhotoRSH.  I had noticed the Illinois based photographers work awhile ago, and already been in contact about his work and a possible future feature on the site.

When I saw that he had worked with Tyler, I immediately shot him a line and RSH generously sent on a selection of shots from the work together.  Now, if you haven't yet checked out the show, I'm sure RSH's visuals will be having you want to make a reservation.

'If you want good conversation, dogs, gym motivation, a cute butt and smiles subscribe! But if you’re looking for pure smut, you’ll be disappointed.'

Dogs, a great smile, and an incredibly cute butt are just fine with me!  Zach Bohmer might look like a slightly older Jonathan Lipnicki, but his adorable face and smile are just the angel at the top of an incredibly hot tree.

It's always interesting when people do before and after shots, especially after a focus on their body and working out.  Some guys seem to lose their 'light' when the gym becomes a focus, it's almost as if when the muscle mass increases, their sense of humor and fun decreases.  Maybe it's the restrictive diet...   Zach maybe stacked, but he hasn't lost any of his spark, it's clear by the twinkle in his eye.

'A lion does not concern himself with the opinion of sheep.'

Games of Thrones is over, and as with all great things that end, the reactions are mixed.  GOT was my favorite television shows, possibly ever.  Now that might change, but for now, despite the uneven final season, it stands.  There were so many surprises over the last eight seasons, so many shocks, so many dramatic moments and so many incredible dialogue exchanges, often featuring the phenomenal Diana Rigg.

'Art is no a democracy. People don't get to vote on how it ends.'
George R.R. Martin

The Twitter on on-line hate for the show got so ridiculous, I had to stop reading.  I get that it speaks to the passionate fans, but the show was truly so brilliantly put together, acted, written and produced, there was no way the final episodes could have satisfied everyone.  Glad they did't try.  I admit the final season was rushed, the pacing was inconsistent with how patient the writing for the first six seasons were.  Viewers got used to the slow build, it took six years for the Stark family to fully reunite and seven, for Jon and Dany to finally meet.  Once everyone was finally together, it made sense to me, time would start moving at a lightening fast pace.  It was jolting at times, but I overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the epic ride, start to finish.

'He speaks with his body.'

Although FH, and the images and stories within, are focused on imagery of the male form, relationship is an underlying theme of almost every piece I've written.  The relationship between viewer and art, art and society, but I think most important of all, the relationship between artist and subject.

I'm constantly asking photographers how and why.  How die you come up with that theme or concept, why did you choose to work with that particular model, what was it about that model that inspired or nudged your creative impulses.  The answers aren't always that interesting, many photographers shoot a model once, and it one and done.  They liked their look, the way they moved.  After one shoot, even a successful one, they move to the next idea, the next concept and the next model.

Most images are not inspired and created by mentors and muses, but some of my favorites shoots, most definitely are.  With mentors and muses, there is not just one shoot, but numerous opportunities to create, to challenge, to push boundaries and grow as a creative team.  Visions are explored, some tired, then dropped, others developed, created and completed.

Over the last two years, New York photographer Richard Rothstein has envisioned, developed, created and completed dozens of creative concepts, and for many, collaborated with the multi-talented and visually ethereal Sergey, to both fulfill, and inspire his creative vision.  I feel fortunate, to have featured over 20 of these collaborations over the past two years.

It has been fascinating to watch the changes in relationship between artist and model, especially it's impact within the work.  It has nothing really to do with Sergey's body, Sergey was naked in the first piece I did, and as a dancer, has always moved beautifully in front of the camera.   What's changed, is how Richard views the body in front of him, and the ways in which both artist and model have pushed each other to cross more boundaries, push more limits, and seek out new and creative ways of telling their stories.

''I really feel like the camera is engaged in a passionate conversation when we shoot. And I think that is because of the connection between us and the affection between us. When we work together there’s a really special chemistry that blends humor, wit, sensuality and imagination. We are working to create something beautifully surrealistic, but we also work to please each other. All of that makes our collaboration special and surprising—at least for us.'

Richard has utilized his muse in numerous different stories and themes, I think one of my favorites being the retelling of classic fairy tales and fables for audiences once not apart of the stories.  I also loved how Sergey's journey as an immigrant from Kharkov, Ukraine has played out in so many stories.  Sergey's pride, freedom and equality  powerfully visible in so many of his images and maybe most of all the joy he feels with the new life he's built, and the relationships he made, since coming to New York.

Today being Sergey's birthday, seemed a perfect time to celebrate the last two years of creative collaborations, and to  feature this new set of images that Richard has entitled Rainbow.  A rainbows power is both visual, and spiritual.  This series highlights both the darkness that precedes, and the cascading colors and light that come, when a rainbow materializes after a storm.  The details captured, of light and color over skin, are memorizing, and the sexual power and strength Sergey absorbs from the spectrum of light and color is erotically charged and electric.

Michael Welch in M.F.A.

It's always a little odd when actors we're introduced to as kids grow up to be men we crush and check out.  Actor Michael Welch began acting when he was just 10 years old, his first role on television, playing a younger version on Niles on an episode of Frasier.   Most of us, got to know Michael at the age of 16, when he played Luke on Joan of Arcadia.

Michael made his first appearance on FH back in 2008, with a post celebrating his 21st Birthday. (HERE:)  Today, Michael is 31, and two years ago at 29, Michael had a frontal in the film M.F.A. Last month I featured Kyler Pettis and his nude scene in the film, .(HERE:) but given I mentioned Michael in that post, thought I should follow-though and post a few caps from his scene.

M.F.A

Although naked, Michael's nude scene wasn't exactly a romantic one, just the opposite in fact.  I've edited down the video to just the end, but you can check out the full scene on Scenes of Male Skin HERE:

Mickey Almon is a sports star turned reporter covering the athletics in Moscow. Framed by the KGB and forced to confess that he was spying for America, he is sentenced to detention in a Gulag, a barbaric prison camp in the wilds of Siberia. Unable to prove his innocence, Mickey must either put up with the inhuman conditions or engineer an escape.

The Lords of Discipline (1983)

I'ts been a few months since I DVR'd the 1984 flick Firestarter, but it was just last week, that I started to watch.   Stephen King is one of my favorite authors, but I haven't always been as enthusiastic about the film adaptations of his books.  Some, like Dolores Claiborne, Pet Cemetery and Misery as well as the 1990 TV adaptation of IT, I love, but most of them... I don't.

Firestarter (1984)

Firestarter wasn't very compelling, despite a interesting beginning,. about 30 minutes in I started to get bored, and the blasting eighties action movie soundtrack had me quickly tuning out.  Before flicking it off, I did however notice actor David Kieth, looking especially hot with long hair in the films opening flashback scene.

I knew who David Keith was, but really didn't pay too much attention to him before.  My mother loved An Officer & A Gentlemen, and there was a copy in our family's VHS collection.  I remember seeing it a few times when I was a kid, but really didn't notice much except Richard Gere and the scene with his pubes peeking his through his white boxer briefs.

The Golden Moment: An Olympic Love Story (1980)

When searching for images of Keith, I finally saw how incredible he also looked in the film, Keith has an incredibly distinctive, and incredibly sexy face.  I quickly went on the hunt for more of Keith's on-screen roles, especially of course, one's which may include a bit of skin.

Co-Ed Fever (1979)

I could only find two films which included nude scenes.  The first was actually An Officer & A Gentlemen.    Although Keith has a sexy scene while in bed in the film, his only nude scene was a brief one, after Richard Gere finds his character hanging from the ceiling after committing suicide in a motel room.

Independence Day (1983)

Brubaker (1980)

Keith's second nude scene was also not a scene filmed the audiences erotic pleasure.  In the 1985 HBO television movie Gulag, Keith plays a former athlete who's imprisoned and interrogated and forced to confess to being a spy for the United States.  There's a brief scene in the film where Kieth's character Mickey Almon and a fellow prisoner are forced to strip down in prison.  I've capped an added a clip of that scene in a post below.
