Hibernal
Although the calendar says winter is still about 10 days away, the weather tells me that where I live, it's here. Although we've had a few flurries, and a bit of graupel, this past weekend, we had our first official snowfall. Snow that required shoveling, and scraping off the car.
With Hibernal weather upon us, it was time to open the hall closet and reach to the very back. That's where the storage container holding my winter wear. My gloves, scarves and man tuques that help keep me warm through the cold winter days. Of course, although went below freezing on the weekend, it's supposed to be unseasonably warm again by weeks end.... Maybe I'll wait just a week or two before packing away my shorts and sneakers.

Victor Alexander by Bob Burkhardt
↧
Industrious Design: Victor Alexander by Bob Burkhardt
'Victor is not content with conventional poses and always strives to do more.'
When I asked photographer Bob Burkhard to describe model Victor Alexander, and their work together, Bob's comments had me thinking. I so often talk about 'creative collaborations', but not all collaborations are equal. We've all had a partner, in school, at work or in life, whose energy and commitment doesn't match our own. Usually, they relationships end up ebbing and ending.
I've often featured shoots, where it's clear that one of the participants, was giving much more than the other. Sometimes it's a photographer trying their best to get some great shots from a unmotivated models. Sometimes it's model, giving their all, to a camera and an artist not able to capture their magic. With Bob Burkhardt's work, you can always see and feel that Bob chooses to work with models who push the boundaries, and match his creative energy and passion.
I've worked with Victor two times before this shoot. He is always prepared and gives his all in a shoot. Victor is not content with conventional poses and always strives to do more. He is industrious, always busy with many aspects of his career. Always great to work with as he has an excellent attitude. I look forward to more shoots with him.
I've been featuring Bob's work for over 12 years now, and just like his description of Victor, Bob always goes above and beyond to create dynamic visuals. I'm always amazed the images Bob captures, blending each model's unique masculine energy, along with an elegance and beauty. Many of the men Bob shoots are fitness models or porn stars, yet he never 'shoots to type'. Bob manages to always capture another side to the men he works with, in great part, because of how Bob approaches his work.
Whenever I ask Bob about his work, he always speaks so respectfully about them models he works with. There are more than a few photographers that I've featured, who don't express a great deal of respect models. Bob takes the time to get to know the men he works with, sometimes as friends, but always as the unique individual that they are. That knowledge and respect plays a role in the working relationship and comes through in every shoot and image.
I've featured Bob's work over fifty times the last decade or so, and thought it was time for the FH version of Vanity Fair's Proust Questionnaire. It's not meant to be taken too seriously, just a fun, short, snap quiz. I always enjoy reading the answers, especially from photographers whose work I've had the pleasure to feature over a long period of time.
When you were younger, was there any person that helped form your passion for the male form?
Joe Dallesandro
When you first starting shooting, what other artists were your inspirations?
Trevor Green. We later became good friends
Were you nervous before and during your first nude shoot?
Not during my first nude shoot, but definitely the first time I worked with adult film actors. They had just flown in from NYC and were dropped off at my studio. I had them for two hours. It was intimidating but they were professionals and gave me good images.
Who was the model and how did the shoot come about?
Big Redd and Angel
How long into shooting the male form did you feel you were in your groove?
About the first year, especially when I got out of the studio and shot in natural light.
Where or how did you first start connecting with models?
I started working with friends first. Often they had no idea how attractive they were. It was like giving them a gift to be able to show them what I saw.
Have you ever asked a total stranger that you've seen to model?
I've asked many strangers but had no success... especially waiters
Do you have a favorite moment from shooting that stands out?
I loved my first shoot with XL. We bonded almost immediately and we went on to have many great sessions together. I also loved working with Brandon Akins, he was very generous. I also loved working with DeepDicc.
Do you have a least favorite?
Many. I shot an older gentleman once who accused my camera of having the ability to create scars on him.
Have you ever cut a shoot short in the middle because it wasn't going well?
Yes, the model just mentioned.
If you could shoot a famous actor nude who would it be?
Coleman Domingo
If you could shoot a famous singer nude, who would it be?
Lenny Kravitz
If you could shoot a famous athlete nude, who would it be?
Noah Lyles
If you could shoot a famous politician nude, who would it be?
Adam Kinzinger
Do you have any embarrassing stories from any of your shoots?
Once a model, who was exhausted from traveling, had several drinks. He passed out in my bathroom with nothing on but a pair of tights around his ankles.
Has a model ever asked you to use your 'editing' skills to enlarge their penis?
Yes. Everyone wants to look their best.
What current models are on your 'wish' list to shoot?
I'd like to work with some of my older regulars, XL, Denerick Lindsay, Ak Brown, Mustafa Ahmad
Now that you've been shooting for awhile, are there artists, other than those already mentioned, whose work do you follow?
Scott Bratek is a brilliant artist

12 Days: Niall Matter
An injured figure skater is sent to the mountains to recover from an injury. Once there, she meets an ex-hockey player and his young daughter and begins to realize that something is missing from her life.
I'm not sure why I've slept on actor Niall Matter until now. He's been in plenty of Hallmark, and Hallmark adjacent movies, some of which I know I've seen. Snowcapped Christmas, aka Falling For Christmas, isn't actually a Hallmark movie, it was produced by the Up Network. Maybe I missed some of Niall's roles because until seeing this movie on a local channel, I'd never seen, or even heard of the network before.
Maybe the reason I overlooked him is because he often co-stars alongside the Christian condescending Candace Cameron Bure. Not all Christians are condescending of course, but given she reportedly left Hallmark due to their focus on inclusion, while at the same time, making millions off of movies about murder.... Homosexuality was never once referenced directly by Jesus, but... he had plenty to say about killing and murder. Just sayin Candy...
But, back to Niall, he was so sexy in this movie. I'd never seen him with such really short hair, and it really works for him. As the single hockey dad he had me wanting to leave the city and move to whatever quaint holiday Christmas town he was living and working in. The 'sort of' Canadian 'Cutting Edge' was filmed in the beautiful Okanagan wilderness at Manning Park and Maple Ridge in British Columbia, Canada. Even that area sounds delicious.
The film is from 2016, but I only saw it last week. At first I was going to skip it, but early in the film, Niall's character Luke pulls up on his snowmobile, and I decided to take a ride with him. Sadly for us, Niall has never done a nude scene, but the Canadian hottie displayed plenty of muscled and shirtless hotness during his time on the series Eureka. (below)

A New and Exciting Experience: Oliver by Studio1x
'Every time when I shoot a new model, it is a new and exciting experience!'
I think the work of Jim from Studio1x has been featured on FH more than any other photographer or model. I'm not exactly sure, as I've lost count of all the stories and shoots I've featured. I keep planning on a Quaternate post on Jim's work, but given the multitude of posts, it always feels so overwhelming. I think finally finishing that task has to be one of my New Year's resolutions!
I was first introduced to Jim's work back in 2017, thanks to photographer Daniel Allen. Daniel encouraged me to check out Jim's work, and included a link to his Instagram page, back then, titled Express Desire Photography. I fell instantly in love with Jim's work, the models he chose to work with, and especially the vast creativity he used in his studio shoots.
I quickly got in touch with Jim who was on board with a post. Jim expressed feeling honored to asked, and encouraged me to send him a list of favorite shots or models that I'd like to spotlight. Although he'd been shooting for awhile, it was only recently he was viewing himself as an artist and photographer.
'I have always had a camera and thought of myself as a photographer. About two years ago, I started taking my hobby seriously and now realized, in the past I was a person with a camera, today I am starting to really see myself as a photographer.'
What I also loved about Jim was that from the start, he wanted to help facilitate story. Although it would have been easy to have Jim just edit and send on his favorite 12 or 15 shots, he wanted me to choose the images I liked best, and images that I felt would fit the story I wanted to tell, and appeal to viewers of the blog.
Although time consuming, it was an exciting experience for me every time I received a link to a Dropbox folder in my inbox. In these folders, were usually somewhere between a few hundred, to over a thousand shots from Jim's work with each model. I then had the fun, but difficult task of narrowing down the images, to about 20 or 30, for Jim to edit for the piece. Sometimes, (often) I couldn't stick to just 20 or 30, but loved as many options as possible to choose from for the final post.
Jim's work made his debut in August of 2017 featuring his work with Robbie. (Before, During & After) Although I'd sent back a long list of favorites from Jim's Instagram page, he'd just finished a shoot Robbie the weekend before and was excited to share them, and feature them on the site. I was totally on board, Robbie was incredibly sexy, and the shots were a great example of what I loved so much about Jim's studio work.
Since that first piece back in 2017, Jim's work became a regular, and welcomed part of the site. Jim also shot some incredible holiday themes, exclusively for the site. Unfortunately for FH and it's viewers, Jim moved a few years ago, meaning he lost his home studio, and the vast model connections he'd made over the years. Thankfully, that didn't mean the end of featuring Jim's work.
Given he'd worked with so many models, and took so many shots, Jim welcomed me into his vast archives, allowing me to continue to regularly feature his work. Some of the shoots, included so many looks and themes, I was able to do several posts featuring his work with just one model. Jim always tried to get as many looks into the short time he had with a model, to ensure they had as may photos, and as many different looks, from their time together.
I noticed recently, as with this shoot with Oliver, that the models and images that I've been bugging Jim about, have included shoots without frontals. No need to worry, I'm not going through the non-frontal phase that Playgirl went through in the late 80's. I just gravitate towards the images I love, and as many regular viewers may have picked up, I much prefer a creative implied, or side or butt shot over a series of frontals.
The famine of frontals however, is about to come to an end. I'm excited that after a period without Jim's original holiday imagery, he found a space to shoot a new holiday series I'll be featuring over the holidays. When Jim sent on the Dropbox link, I was just as excited as I was the first time he sent his work with Robbie.
In the meantime, enjoy this series with Oliver. Although he didn't show the full Monty, his sensual appeal is certainly more than satisfying. When I saw just one of Jim's shots of Oliver, his beautiful face, body hair and incredible body certainly had me wanting to see more of their work together. Sure, Oliver pulling down his boxer briefs over the top part of his pelvis is bit of a tease, it's was definitely and enjoyable one!

12 Days: Derek Klena in Private Princess Christmas
Princess Violet of Wingravia must complete a tough leadership boot camp in Colorado or risk losing her throne to her uncle.
Usually, when I see a Hallmark holiday films has Prince or Princess in the title, I skip them. Although there are a few I've enjoyed, most of the Royalty focused films are cringe worthy. Yes, I know, most Hallmark movies could be considered cringe worthy, but the majestic movies more than most...
Although they may hire a few English actors to play the parents of the prince or princess, or for a supporting role, the leads are usually American or Canadian actors struggling with their accents. They also often include royals from obscure or made up countries, just to ensure viewers can never really pin-point where that strange accent comes from.
When I saw Private Princess Christmas on the guide, I almost skipped it. Reading the description didn't help. What made me press 'record' on my DVR was noticing the male lead was played by actor Derek Klena. I only discovered Klena few months ago when I was researching the many actors I featured in my feast of Fiyeros from Wicked. (HERE:) Klena played Fiyero on Broadway from May through December back in 2013.
Since first seeing his beautiful face, and hearing his beautiful voice, I'm been going down the Youtube rabbit hole of his past performances. There are many great videos featuring Derek from his turns in Wicked, Moulin Rouge, Anastasia, Jagged Little Pill and more. I especially loved his turn as Joe in Sunset Boulevard. (see below)
In addition to his many roles on stage, Klena also appeared a semi-regular on television shows including; Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Code, City on a Hill and Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Klena also appeared in episodes of; Law & Order, The Carrie Diaries, Blue Bloods and Quantico.
I do have to admit, I didn't exactly love Private Princess Christmas, it had so many of the regal annoyances I often find in Hallmark's representations of royals. I did enjoy watching Klena though an his turn as Captain Ryan Douglass. Like the many cadets he was whipping into shape, I had to obey his orders and watch the entire thing.

thedeftmaneuver: Take FiVe
'A little modeling mixed with a little kink.'
I've been following thedeftmaneuver on social media for awhile now, and have always been drawn to his images. Never content with the status quo, he loves to push erotic boundaries with his modeling. Not that he's necessarily into BDSM in his real life, but he loves to explore it, and other erotic elements when in front of the camera, and with an artist he trusts and respects. When I recently saw these shots from photographer Rock Truelove, I knew I wanted to feature them on the site. I especially love the mix of strength and erotic vulnerability in this series of images.
Take Five
On a scale from 1-10 how nervous were you the first time posing nude?
3. It's always at least a little concerning shooting with someone you've yet to meet face to face
Had you ever been naked in public before modeling?
Do gym showers count?
What are your boundaries for a shoot?
Nothing gratuitous
What's the best compliment you received about one of your modeling images?
I had someone tell me that I captured something to the effect of "masculine realism" so I took that positively.
Do you have a dream scenario for a shoot you'd love to do?
I prefer direction from the photographer, so just so long as he or she has the vision and is really into their craft then I want to work with them.

A Pause on the Patio: Max Nelson by Kerry
'I try to just go with the flow.'
As warm as it was in the photographer's sunroom, when they headed out Kerry's back porch, things really heated up. So hot in fact, Max's blood flow equaled his creative urges. Some of the images were even too hot for FH, but I think you'll feel more than visually satisfied as you scroll down.
Were the erection and climax shots planned, or did they occur naturally in the moment?
I try to just go with the flow. We’d discussed doing some erotic photography but it was ultimately about my comfort levels on the day.
What has been the best reaction you've gotten from an image you've posted?
I’ve had lots of positive reactions but honestly I’m more focused on how I feel about them.
What is your favorite part about modeling?
The freedom of sharing my whole body in this way and the challenge of the creative process. I also love the great people I meet and get to hang out with!
Is there a photographer you'd love to work with?
There’s lots and lots. In Australia, I still want to pose for Brenton Parry and Ross Spirou. Overseas top of the list is Maurice Farrell. Did a zoom shoot with Maurice during COVID but would love to do something in person one day.
Do you have any dream scenarios for a shoot you'd like to create?
More stuff outdoors, especially around water and utilizing sunset/sunrise. The light is perfect around those times.
Do you have an OF, or fan site, or just sharing on MM and Instagram for now?
I have an Instagram and Bluesky and I'm also on Adultfolio and Model Mayhem as well. I don’t have like an OF or anything.

End of the Seasonal Sightings:
'The quiet transition from autumn to winter is not a bad time at all. It's nice to store up your warmth and your thoughts and burrow yourself into a deep hole inside, a core of safety where you can defend what is important and precious and your very own.'
Tove Jansson
I love all four seasons, but I think I have a preference for fall and winter. I many, I love cozy nights and brief stints of hibernation, but the cool and cold weather also energizes me. Living on the East coast, the summers can get incredibly muggy, zapping my energy when outside. Although I love the sun, I tend to shorten my walks and runs, and head to shade when it gets especially hot and muggy.
The start of every season is like a new beginning, like having four additional January 1st. I know many love living in Southern climates, where it's warm all year round, but I love life changes that season changes bring. Like so many of you, I have four different wardrobes, hats and footwear for almost every possible winter condition. Winter boots, rubber boots, hiking books and sneakers with treads for whatever I'm walking on.
More than the temperature changes, what I love most are the visual changes. From my living room, the view outside changes from month to month. It's never the same for long. It's like changing a room's paint color or artwork several times a year, without having to spend a penny.
I think I'm more impacted by visual change, or the lack of, than other people. It's not just the images on FH that I strive to follow the seasons. I change my table cloth, a couple of cushion covers to match seasonal colors. I even annoyingly switch many of the pictures on my walls, several times a year, to match the holidays and seasons.
FH viewers I love me some shots of hotties mooning. I went overboard with my multiple moons in 2023, so tried to cut down in 2024. There were still a few favorites however, I couldn't quite let go.
This year, photographer Michael von Redlich sent on a great selection of shoots and models from his archive of Autumn images. I was thrilled to feature so many different models, and so many colorful shots. In addition to Michael's older work, he also shared a ton of new images from his most recent work with model. Isaac Green. (below). I've shared just a small sample of what Michael sent on, with much more to come! Now, on to winter!!!

Excellence in Casting:
I've been following the work of gorgeous model turned actor Nathan Owens for awhile now. I even did a feature back in 2013 when he briefly played a stripper on Days Of Our Lives. (HERE:) I saw on-line this week, that Nathan was just cast in a new role on The Young and the Restless. Although I haven't been watching regularly, Nathan might just have me again tunning in.
