The Genesis Effect: Irwin & Peter by AANE Photography

'I wanted a beach shoot, so we drove to La Perouse, which is part of Botany Bay. I kept thinking of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan while we were there. I may have even muttered a few times "Khan!" like Jerry Seinfeld.'

Travel has been a consistent theme each time I feature the work of AANE Photography, but this is the first time space travel has figured into the equation. When Mike first sent on his with model Irwin Tseing one of the things I loved best about the images was the beauty and contrast between the smoothness of Irwin's beautiful skin and naked body and the rough rock which surrounds him.

Both, are visual masterpieces, subjects that have you pausing to notice the intricate details which make up their beauty. The rocks and cliffs along Botany Bay almost look extraterrestrial. Formational creations formed from centuries of weather and water. When Mike included a Wrath of Khan reference, I knew exactly what he meant. Genesis describes the beginning, a planet untouched by man. In the film, The Genesis Effect describes the recreation of that beginning, after a planet's destruction. The colors and textures in the rocks Irwin is posing on and in front of are so detailed, you could almost imagine a skilled artist drawing each of the line designs, colors and textures that make up their complexity.

FH has traveled to Sidney with Mike once before. Last year I featured Mike's shoot with Kedori, (Over His Head) deep within the Royal National Park south of Sydney. Fiven Mike didn't know the area, It was Kedori who led the way to find the perfect location, and waterfall in which to shoot. It was another model who led the way to La Perouse, not Irwin, but model Peter Hanna, who was also along for the shoot.

This shoot took place on the same trip as Mike's shoot with Kedori. The Pennsylvania photographer was only in Sidney for the weekend and had searched for models to shoot prior to arriving. Mike received three replies, one from Kedori and the other two from Irwin and Peter. Mike had originally planned shooting Irwin alone, but after his schedule changed, he decided to shoot he and Peter together. As you can see from the images of the two models together, I think it all worked out and love Mike's comments on their work together, and that pesky fisherman who was looking to expand his catch of the day...

'The landscape was beautiful, and the waves crashing against the shore provided excellent imagery. Unfortunately you really can't go into the water, because the shore is so rocky. Australia is known for it's beaches, but most I saw were hellish landscapes with sharp rocks and sharks.'

Irwin with Peter Hanna

'They lighting was wonderful, and the weather was perfect. It wasn't too hot, and the breeze off the ocean was cooling. The only problem was this fisher who kept ambling up and down the shore. We couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman, but each time we tried to do a nude shot, the fisher would show up. We finally decided the androgynous fisher was named Pat, the Ambiguous Fisher Person. We moved away, and Pat kept following. It must have been the better part of an hour, but finally we got away from Pat, and could do some nude shots by some rocks.'

'Irwin and Peter were easy to work with, and very nice. Irwin had the sweetest Australian accent. Whenever he talked, I immediately thought of Sandy from Grease. I got them onto an outcrop and started to work up the shot. I had them pose first clothed so I could frame them and determine how to use the scenery. It was very reminiscent of Wilhelm von Gloeden.'

'I asked Irwin to come to me, because the giant boulders I was standing on were difficult to navigate. I am lucky I didn't break my neck. They were very both very comfortable with doing shots. In fact, I was about to find out how comfortable.. I told Irwin that I wanted them to pose side by side, nude, with their hands covering each other, crossing their arms, very much like the Warwick Rowers have done. After I finished explaining, Irwin went over to Peter, relayed what I had said, and then they both got naked.'

'What happened next was shocking to me. As they started to pose, instead of stopping just short of each others penises, they both grabbed each other, like an Amish boy milking a cow. I was stunned, and for a second I thought I should correct them. Then, I just started shooting. I must have taken 100 shots of that one pose. I kept shooting thinking at any moment they would both let go. When Peter went to use the restroom, I told Irwin that they didn't need to actually grab each other. I was happy with just having their hands blocking. He smiled and said, yeah, I know, but I thought this would look better.'

'Later I heard from Irwin that Peter had told him that was the first time he ever touched another guys dick. Oh yes, Peter is straight and Irwin is gay. I was amazed at how comfortable Peter was with the whole shoot. I found Australians to be much more comfortable about sexuality than Americans. '

Period Piece: Jon Finch in Une femme fidèle

My quest for period dramas featuring the nude male form recently led me to 1976's Une femme fidèle (aka The Faithful Woman, aka Game of Seduction). When I saw the movie featured Sylvia Kristel, I knew there would be nudity, it was just a question of whether the Roger Vadim direct film would include any male nudity...

Roger came through. Actor Jon Finch looks perfectly dashing as Comte Charles de Lapalmmes, a 19th-century nobleman trying to seduce the married Mathilde Leroy. (Kristel) There was not a lot of male nudity, but a long scene (capped below) in which Finch shows all of his long lean form. I uploaded the scene to SendSpace (HERE:) if anyone is interested, the quality is good, but not spectacular. If you would rather watch the entire film, it can be found on Youtube HERE:

Crepuscular: Mon Pattakan by Stahfysh Photography

'It was a pretty humid day so Mon's muscle tank top didn't stay on for very long.'

Those who live up and down the east coast know that dusk offers little to no relief from humidity. In fact, the golden hour just before the sun sets, is often the most humid time of the day. Depending on weather and clouds however, it does offer photographers a beautifully rich light. This Crepuscular light occurs at both dawn and dust and acts almost like natures own dimmer switch. It also provides the time of day with the most visible and dramatic contrasts between light and dark.

It was Rae Ellaine's (Stahfysh Photography) use of rich blend of light and darkness that initially had me pausing to enjoy his imagery. This period of half-light provides an almost after glow from the setting sun that beautifully lights model Mon Pattakan in this series of images Rae shot last week for FH. I guess we thank the city of Richmond, known for it's humidity, for helping getting Mon quickly out of his tank top. Not just because we wanted to see the 6'2 model shirtless, but because the light really spotlights his incredible body and the beautiful contrast between the light and the dark of his skin and tattoos.

Rae says that 22 year old Mon, (who goes by Pat) is one of his favorite models to work with. From day one, they had instant connection and felt comfortable with one another from the start. On the day of this particular shoot, they met up for an early evening shoot around 7:30 pm at a local park in the city. They got straight to work so not to waste any of the available light. They started off by a bridge overlooking a river and then made their way into the woods. Rae and Mon ended the shoot near some train tracks in a more secluded area just as the sun was starting to set.

'Mon's very kind hearted and always open to creating beautiful work together. He really knows his body and angles which makes my job easy. Mon also takes very good direction and isn't afraid of taking risks. Each shoot just feels like two close friends enjoying a laugh and snapping a few pictures together, that easy going energy makes for all of the best photos. I would say this is my favorite shoot that we've done together so far and I'm excited for what we'll create together in the future. '

Making his Mark

I have only had time to watch the first episode of this summer's Big Brother but already first impressions are out the window. Cody is this year designated stud, but so far his personality is less than engaging... Matt is a hottie, but he has hooked himself to Cody, so we'll have to wait to how that goes.

Cody

Matt

Mark, the body builder and personal trainer did not initially ping my radar, but he seems like a sweetie and a lot cuter on on TV than in his promotional images give away!

Mark

Mark proves personality really is the most attractive quality, oh, that... and showing your gorgeous beefy butt. In all probability, if I keep watching my feelings will change, Big Brother tends to bring the best out in some, but the worst in most who enter the house. Stay tuned!

Confidence Builder: Brenden Besecker

First 6 images from The Third Eye

'Brenden has the triple threat in modeling. He is good looking, has an excellent physique and good intuition. He is everything you would want in a model.'

Last year, one of my favorite pieces featured the work of Jack from The Third Eye. (Same Old Story?) I loved Jack's work and the stories he told through his images. It is the goal of most artists to capture an inner essence or a small piece of their subjects history or story. Jack's images beautifully achieve this, adding a layer of depth of artistry that have me returning to his portfolio often to see what new stories his imagery is telling.

Last month, Jack's images of model Brenden Besecker had me reaching out to both to learn more. As you can see, it was immediately evident in his images that Brenden has something special. Something beyond just his incredible physique, something seen and felt in the emotion expressed through Brenden's magnetic hazel eyes. Jack advised me to 'catch him quick' as Brenden's determination and ambition were going to ensure that he was going places, and fast. I agreed, and took Jack's advice.

At just 21, Brenden's story is just beginning. With 'firsts' being a FH theme for 2017, it is exciting to catch him at the start of his modeling and fitness journey. When he was ready to give it a go, Brenden joined a Dayton and Cincinnati model page on Facebook and put up an ad looking for a photographer to help him build his portfolio.

It was through the group that he connected with Jack. It is hard to believe that Brenden's work with Jack was his first time shooting professionally. It wasn't an easy or quick decision however, for Brenden to take the leap. It took a bit of time to build himself up, both mentally and emotionally, before deciding to join the Facebook group and take the risk.

Last 5 images from Studio 5 Columbus

'My friends would joke with me about becoming a model, and I really liked the idea of it but it took me a long while to develop the confidence to actually give it shot. I was bullied in high school and graduated weighing 140 pounds with no style, practically skin and bones so I still had a lot of self talk to go to convince myself I was model material.'

Even after deciding to give modeling a shot, Benden took another year to focus on his body, working out and focusing on his body and how he presented himself outwardly to others. This hard work and perseverance paid off and comes through in the confidence he exudes within his images. After working with Jack and building up a solid portfolio of images, Brenden created a ModelMayhem page which is helping him connect with other photographers, including Studio 5 Columbus, who shot the last five incredible shots.

Brenden was also inspired to create Instagram and Facebook pages which focus on his passion fro personal fitness. Although working on his outside is crucial to success in the fitness industry, Brenden also was well aware of the importance of education. Brenden is currently a student studying exercise science which along with his personal experience will maximize the impact he might have on others looking to pursue their own passions and goals.

First two images by Kevyn Aucoin

'I have always been a bit of an exhibitionist. It's empowering to be immortalized in so many different ways.'

One of the best parts about working on FH is the diversity of hot men that I get to feature. I love featured models who just starting out in the business and learning about what motivated them to get started. I equally love spotlighting models who have been in the trenches and experienced both the best, and the worst, that the industry has to offer. I think one of the main differences between models just beginning, and more seasoned models is their response to risk.

Ad for Mountain Dew

All models, regardless of experience, are required to take risks. Putting your faith, and your image, in the hands of another, is something all models must do at some point. Therefore, choosing which photographers to work with, what type of shoots to do, how edgy to go or how much skin to show, are all questions that must be answered every time an opportunity to shoot arises.

What I find refreshing about models who have been shooting for awhile isn't that they stop determining risk, it's that they understand they no longer have to put so much weight and worry into into their outcomes. Good experiences are great, but bad ones can help you move further along as well. Ultimately, models who stick with it, do so because of their enjoyment of the creative process, and the reaction of others although important, becomes less of a factor into the work they choose to do.

For Frank Campisano, it all began in High School. A fellow student, and a friend of Frank's who was into photography, asked if he would model for her. Frank loved the images they created and he felt at ease and natural in front of the camera. Others saw Frank's beauty, skills and natural ability in front of the camera as well. Signed with Wilhelmina in the 90's, Frank remembers that there were so many beautiful people at the agency and that the competition was fierce. You couldn't let that hold you back, and had to use it to motivate you to do your best. Being a bit shorter than many of the other male models, it was sometimes a difficult for Frank to get work. Today, Frank sees more diversity in models and sought after looks. 'Beauty is not the norm, it is what we make it!'

Frank by Ken Haak

'I was told by a brilliant photographer named Ken Haak that I was more comfortable with my clothes off then on. I have never been ashamed or feared being photographed nude. The male body is beautiful.'

Frank credits Ken Haak with pretty much launching him into the NYC modeling scene. 'He photographed me with Super model Angie Everhard and I have been featured in a few of his books.' It was when still at Wilhelmina that Frank first shot nude, but not for an official assignment. Frank remembers that at the time, after the official shoot or job was complete, some photographers would ask if any of the models wanted to stick around and have some fun. This would quite often lead to models staying, having fun and shooting more creative and erotic imagery. Those early erotic shoots were risky, but they also led to some life changing moments for Frank.

Next three shots from Mark Lauderdale

'I remember that I was doing a shoot for a TV Commercial and I was invited to stay at a house on Fire Island by the artistic director for the ad company I was working for. I was not out about being gay, but everyone always talked about how fabulous it was out there... so I went. They were shooting a Porn movie next door and I met this beautiful guy who later became my first boyfriend and helped lead me to finding the courage to come out!'

Have there been any offers you turned down for just being too 'out there?'
Nope lol

Is there a photographer you would really love to be shot by?
Yes, Dennis Dean. His work so sexy!

What part of your body are you most happy with? What part gets the most attention from others?
That's a loaded question!! Lol My face eyes and mouth when I was younger. Now it's my cock and ass!

Next three shots from Anthony Timiraos

Your work seems to have gotten more adventurous sexually as you have gotten older. Did this come due to experience, or just a 'fuck it' attitude after having been the in the business for awhile?

'The just fuck it attitude definitely. I am at a point in my life now where it's all or nothing. I am a great example and inspiration to many. I can so I do. I have nothing to lose and I have no regrets. Some may think I am sexualizing myself I tend to feel differently. There are a lot of haters. Let them hate. There is nothing more beautiful then the image of a finely toned male body.'

'I am a Dancer and a Certified Personal Trainer. I plan on doing a lot more performance art over the next year or so with The Pioneer Winter Collective based out of Miami and continue to inspire people to live well and be the best that they can be. Beauty comes from within. Love your self, every bit of you and make this world even more amazing then it already is!'

The Ginger-Bread Man!

I know the show has been on for years.... I know, the current version on PBS already ended and aired last year, but I have finally sliced into The Great British Baking Show. I caught the premiere a few weeks ago, and have DVR'd the episodes since. Currently looking forward to watching 'batter' tonight. The two hosts are fun and the judges 'judgy' enough to be entertaining.

I would like to say it was the cakes and cookies, but I think the recipe for having me finally pay attention was less yeast based and more testosterone driven. There are a few cuties whose dough rises each week, the most adorable, ginger haired Andrew Smyth. Not a shock that Smyth is originally from County Down, Northern Ireland, but the 25 year old now lives in Derby.

'As if his culinary skills weren't impressive enough, Smyth spends the rest of his time designing jet engines for Rolls Royce, where his work includes finding ways to assemble engines more safely, and experimenting with thermal paint.'

Researching this post, I unfortunately spoiled Andrew's fate by searching him on IMDB. The site credits the contestants by number of episodes, so I now now how many more episodes I get to watch Andrew greasing his pans. That's ok though, the show is a great diversion and am looking forward to finishing the season.
