Ruined: The Bad Boys of BAD JOHNPAUL

'BAD JOHNPAUL Ruined My Life!'

Humans are frequently described as being damaged. The word is usually used to describe someone who struggles to cope with day to day life due to a past occurrence or trauma. Truth is, we're all damaged in one way or another and to varying degree's. It's nearly impossible for most people to live a full live and enter their 20's or 30's unscathed. We all have experienced fear and pain and darkness especially, insists on imprinting itself in our thoughts and in our nightmares.

There are degree's of damage however. The imprint of any damage producing event is always permanent.  Smaller events however, imprint with less durability, penetrating hard at first, but depending on our level of reliance, don't have the stamina to maintain their power.

Most of us remember the first time we were truly terrified by movie. A film, or scene that shakes us to the core and refuses to let go. I'll never forget the night in the late 80's when I first saw Carrie.  I was about 11 or 12 and spending the night at a friends house and it was Carrie, that we slid in the VCR.  I don't think I'd ever see a horror movie before and the movie's last scene, with Carrie's hand rising from the grave haunted me for years.

That scene in Carrie is still imprinted in my psyche. There were many nights of terror when my defences were down, that it replayed in my dreams. Over time, I was able to put in it's place and regained control over how much I let the scene impact me.  I bought a copy of both the Stephen King book and the  movie, and now enjoy watching it, and laughing at how the scene used to have such a hold on me. The scene almost looks a bit silly by today's standards. Having experienced much greater horror, both reel, in and real life, this minor damage may continues to have a place,  it no longer has the power it once did.

To be damaged, means it's possible to be repaired. Not fixed, never back to how we were before, but repaired enough to keep going on. Sort of like that plate handed down from your grandmother. Even though it was smashed into dozens of pieces, it remains, now glued together, standing up in the china cabinet. It's kept for sentimental reasons, not because there is any actual use left. Damage is actually the end result of ruin.  Being ruined is the actual downfall, decay and destruction that  actually causes the damage. Sometimes it happens in in an instant, in one powerful blow. Other times it happens in stages, with consistent and prolonged exposure to fear or pain.

I can't think of a more powerful and descriptive word than ruined to describe an artist's work. Although BAD JOHNPAUL gives his viewers a bit of a warning, it doesn't fully prepare you for what is lying ahead. I love imagery that gives me a shake, and leaves a bit of a mark. If we think of the marks that we have acquired over time, the damage caused is usually inflicted by extreme experiences in two specific areas.  Themes of sex and violence are risky subjects to weave together, but they the form core of the vibrant, colorful and remarkable work of BAD JOHNPAUL.

Rural areas in Texas often act as the setting for damage inducing horror. Along with chainsaw wielding psychopaths, small Texas towns have also birthed talented artists whose mothers name them after famous Pope's. This particular John Paul had a word other that Pope, in front of his name, when 'bad' was added to describe John Paul's behaviour while he was growing up. You can only imagine that someone with 'bad' as a main descriptor would soon tire of small town life, and so it was that at 18, BAD JOHNPAUL headed 100 miles north to Austin.

'For a good hot minute, BJP forgot why he'd moved to Austin in the first place and became an optician, working for various eye docs around town. In fact, devoted most of his sexy 20's working the "nine to five" life with another destiny awaiting him! And so, after 6 years of the medical field, BJP was restless... he needed a hobby and he needed one soon! Thankfully for us, in 2009 he bought his first digital camera from a street thug and he slowly evolved into the hot mess we know and love today!'

In 2012, BAD JOHNPAUL left his day job to focus full time on his art. One might think that in order to become successful, art must first be seen, but for BAD JOHNPAUL, his start was to get heard. It was radio appearances that help him become one of the most talked about photographers in Texas. He became well known for his radio appearances and the persona that helped provide the exposure he needed. Through these appearances, people were intrigued to see wild and incredibly sexual work they were hearing being talked about. The radio appearances provided just enough tantalization for listeners to want to become viewers of the imagery being described.

Without consent, or control, sex and violence are not subjects I generally enjoy joined together. I abhor cruelty and the diminishing of human by another. But, with BAD JOHNPAUL's creative intention, his images and visuals both memorable and mesmerising. The men and women BJP shoots are participants in the process, wearing their 'Ruined by BAD JOHNPAUL' label a bit like a right of passage. BJP's images bring presence to the primal, permitting his bad boys and girls to inhabit a place so many fear. By doing so, they take control of the process, channeling the damage into art and power.

I have been hoping to featured BJP's work for awhile now.  Not only because of his powerful imagery, but to explore his masterful theme of 'ruined'. Having worked on FH for a decade now, I am fully aware the theme is one that is too real for some artists and models. I have gotten more than few e-mails from models asking that images, images they consented to, posed for and paid for, be removed from the site. Their main fear is that the images are somehow going ruin a new relationship, a new opportunity or job.

Truth is, this rarely actually happens. I remove the images, of course, but usually still see them on one site or another, and a year later, the model is either married, or working in the job they seeking. That doesn't mean the fear wasn't real, but permanent damage occurs usually when something happens to you, when you have zero control over it's impact. Not as often through a choice or decision. It is interesting that some of these same models, come around to again embracing the same images that at one time caused them such stress. Especially a we get older, like my reaction to that scene from 'Carrie', we become better equipped to no not only deal, but utilize the fear of ruin to take control.

Although BJP shoots both men and women, he has created a tumblr, Bad Boys of BJP, to showcase some of everyone's favorite bad boys. The tumblr has taken off organically, without much promotion, but BJP is launching a new project featuring some of his shots and updating it on the tumblr site. In addition to a new book, SEX n VIOLENCE, coming out, he is also going to be doing an edition dedicated to the many BAD BOYS he has captured. Not only is BJP giving sneak peeks on the tumblr, but also offering a rough draft copy to buyers to go through and help him choose the perfect BAD BOY to be on the books cover. If you want to look at the many BAD BOYS ruined by the artistry of BAD JOHNPAUL, check out the tumblr HERE:

'My Lover's bones are lost at Sea, but his soul shall ever be with me.'

Last week I went to friends wedding. The wedding was in a small country church and was lightening fast. Got to love Anglican's, I think we were in an out of the church in under 15 minutes. The reception on the other hand, went on much longer, and I am thankful for it. It was located in a huge old mansion, now an inn. Although the inn has bedrooms, they are not rented out for people on vacation, or a weekend away, they are rented only for guests on the nights they hold receptions, functions and murder mystery nights.

I didn't spend the night, but did stay late, late enough to be one of the last few people to leave. The owner, instead of wanting to hurry us out, took the quite of the late hour to offer us a tour. I was taken by the many staircases and the tall windows that looked out at the ocean in the distance. It was too dark to see from inside, but was able to see, and hear it, on the last stop on our tour.

After visiting many rooms, and many floors, we entered a small room, almost like a closet on the 5th floor. There was nothing in the room but a spiral staircase leading up to the roof. The stairs led to a Window's walk, or widow's watch, a small circular balcony on the roof of the home. I think I heard stories of brides waiting for their husbands tor return from war, staring out at the ocean in the hopes of seeing lights from a boat coming home. I don't think I ever thought about the way I did last weekend as the tour guide told stories about the widow who occupied the house so many decades ago.

I am not sure how much was fact, or how much was 'show' for the mansions many murder mystery nights, but I couldn't help but think about all the young men who never returned home. Lost at sea, killed in battle, terrified, ultimately alone. What really struck me is how forgotten these men now are. Before computers, before even a time when not everyone had a phone, sometimes it was months between a husband's death, and a wife being told. So many bodies never returned home, and most of the those who died, no longer have living relatives who remember, and can pass on their stories.

'Cheeky-Chappie': Colin by Nick S82

'Colin has that Irish 'cheeky-chappie' and 'Squaddie' personality and sense of humour.'

First off, let me save you the time. When NickS82 sent on the quote above about working with Colin, I had no idea what it meant either. A quick search let me know that 'cheeky-chappie' is an early 20th century expression which refers to a cheeky, likeable man or boy. 'Squaddie' is connected to squad, and is used to describe someone in the military. For some odd reason, even before I knew the meaning, the playful and fun description fit, especially once I learned Colin's Irish and ex-military.

Colin looks nothing like a Leprechaun of course, but Nick captured some great shots showcasing his playfulness and personality. It was this playfulness that had me reaching out to Nick about featuring his work with Colin and most of my favorite shots were of Colin trying out different poses with fun and quirky facial expressions.

It was Colin's personality that Nick wanted to focus on for their first shoot  together.. When they got together for their second shoot, Nick'g goal was to shoot more theme and narrative based images. 'We specifically decided to try some erotic concepts, based on what the British would call 'Morning Glory.'  If you're a member of Flickr, you can check out more from both shoots on Nick's Flick album featuring his work with Colin HERE:

Beyond his playfulness, Colin is also incredibly sexy. A great body, which he clearly takes care of, I especially love Colin's dark eyes, and his magnificent chest and deliciously large nipples.  In addition to what you see, Colin's sexiness can also be felt in how comfortable he appears in front of the camera.  Sometimes poses can looked forced or overly staged, but in Nick's shots, Colin seems so natural and appears to be just doing 'his thing'.

'Colin was an absolute joy to work with, very open-minded and body-confident. He's now a Personal Trainer and Bodybuilder and was "discovered" as a model (not by me) by a talent spotter on Instagram. He has now worked with "famous" British photographers who usually work with celebrities.'

War Stories

When I was searching for images for Saturday's post 'Widow's Walk', i was mostly looking for vintage images sailors and soldiers from World War II. I have searched and posted vintage military images before, but usually was most drawn to the black and white shots. I was struck however this time around by some of the color images from the Korean war in the 50's, the Vietnam War in the 60's and early 70's.

As recent as these two wars actually were, they weren't given a lot of space in the history book, at least not when I was in high school in the early 90's. Maybe they were too recent, or maybe although we still honour our solders, we know better than to honour our wars, especially the wars since World War II. The first two world wars seemed to have purpose, it is harder to find purpose in most of the last few wars, especially looking back.

Most of these images come from those two wars, along with many from the Gulf War in the early 90's. This war I remember, I was young, and to be honest, remember mostly being angry at all the coverage on television wrecking my TV viewing. Given FH is devoted to the male form, it did not go unnoticed, the changes in men, especially the changes in body shapes and sizes in our more recent wars.

Most of the soldiers in World War II had crew cuts. In the latter wars, it was a mix of crew cuts and shaved heads, with shaved heads taking over in recent years. The soldiers in World War II clearly did not eat as well, and many looked underweight and undernourished. You rarely saw a guy with pounds to spare in vintage images from the time. Partly it may have been location, and ability to easily, and quickly transport food to war zones.

I think in part it was also priorities, and of course the draft. In the Gulf War, solders volunteered. With earlier Wars, many were drafted, and had little to no say on having their basic needs met. So many images of naked military men involve water, showering and cleaning. In World War II, many of these images were shot on beaches and at lakes whereas during The Gulf War, it was man made showers were primarily available.

I will have to do a history of military showers at some point as some of the make shift structures are quite incredible, especially the work it took to bring enough water for everyone.

Sam & Paul from The Amazing Race Canada 5

'We’re millennials. Of course, we met on a dating app!'
Paul

If anyone is able to catch this seasons Amazing Race Canada, they no doubt have noticed racers, Sam Lambert and Paul Mitskopoulos. The hot pair are credit on the show as 'dating couple' and have been together since their first date at a concert in 2015. Paul was not out at that time, but falling for Sam motivated him to open up to his family and friends. I did not intend to watch this season, despite my lust for host Jon Montgomery, but I DVR'd the episodes, finally watching the first few episodes this past week.

Sam

I picked a good time view as the last episode found the racers in Beijing, having to choose which 'in sync' roadblock they would choose. Thankfully the two hotties chose diving over dancing and ended up at the pool, in tight red speedos. Their first couple of dives did not go over well, but by dive three, they scored 25, one of the highest scores of the night! Episodes of The Amazing Race Canada are on Youtube, but the official episodes do cost $1.99 per episode.

Paul

'Both Sam and Paul are highly competitive, athletic, ambitious, and care deeply for one another. Although similar in their values, Sam and Paul are different in a number of ways. Sam, who is pursuing a career as a doctor, is very intelligent and sensitive, while Paul tends to be more reactive. Sam has an almost photographic memory and an uncanny ability to read people, whereas Paul, the more reserved of the two, admits to having a terrible memory but believes his physical stamina more than makes up for it.'

'Although their differences do cause tension, it could also be the key to their success. Where one is weak, the other is strong. Paul, the more physical of the two – he loves to play volleyball, soccer, and tennis – is very determined. Sam, whose strength will be mental challenges, logic, and memory, can be very impatient. He hates repetition and is quick to get frustrated when something isn’t working. Together, they are sure to bring humor and heart to the competition.'

'Yorgen's ass should be insured for at least a million dollars. there are assets and then there are cheeks that bring tears to the eyes with their perfect sculpture.'

I can't take credit for the quote above, that goes to FH reader petercox97, who left the quote as a comment the last time I featured Yorgen's images from StudioMGphotography. I do think however, it's beautifully on point. His sculptured backside, not to mention his beautiful blue eyes, and thick, muscular legs, had me yearning for more of Yorgen.

We have already been blessed with two doses of Yorgen, Scrub Down, which also featured shots from Mike Tossy, and Let The Weekend Begin!. Thankfully, Mark from StudioMGphotography, was happy to supply a few more shots to round out the hat trick, satisfying the craving, and maybe... bring a few more tears to Peter's eyes. I was especially happy to see a few more shots of a soapy Yorgen from the truck washing shoot.

Although we have joined Yorgen at the beach, and while washing down the truck, there are several more shoots, including an especially hot and active one on a mattress, in Mark's book, Yorgen: A Weekend Visit. You can take home your own, in both hardcover, or low priced digital download, by checking out the preview on Blurb HERE:

Suntown Photography: Off With Their Clothes!

Most people who read FH on a regular basis know how much I love 'the reveal'. I don't usually like featuring shoots in which every shoot is a full nude. I like to see models dressed, to me, it helps to build the anticipation of seeing them undressed. I also believe it's important to see models as people, not just bodies and a series of body parts. Featuring portrait shots, clothed images, underwear and semi-nudes helps with the way I love to present a visual reveal.

Briley

'Briley Hall has a lovely personality, a great smile, great body and beautiful blue eyes.'

Carl

There have been many 'reveals' in my past stories featuring the work of Suntown Photography. Suntown's focus in discovering 'everyday hotties' and has found his models both on-line, as well as when at the grocery store, the cell phone shop and just walking down the street. Suntown's new project, featuring his work on ONLYFANS, is about presenting these 'everyday hotties' to fans of his work. As a photographer of the male form, Suntown then gets to do, what so many of us dream of doing when we see a hottie on the street, getting them out of their clothes, and in front of his camera.

'No matter how often I tell the guys "Please do NOT shave your pubes", some will still turn up shaved. Usually as the result of a girl or boyfriend asking them to do it. This was just the case with this shoot of Carl. He also said he thought it made his cock look bigger. Plus when he gave his smile I could not keep annoyed with him.'

Lee

'Lee had lovely furry legs which is one thing I find really attractive on the guys I work with and in my personal life. We all have our own preferences.'

Thomas

'Thomas has three things I like about a model. A sexy cute smile, hairy legs and a hairy bum. The fact that he is also fit and very happy in front of the camera was a pure bonus. He is likely to feature in either "Hot Fur" or "Naked & Inked". Where do you think he should appear?'

James

'James contacted me because he had always fancied doing something "naughty" on camera at least once and this was his opportunity. The week after we did the shoot he was heading off to start working on a ship. We chatted on the phone a bit before the shoot so he knew exactly what he would be doing and he seemed quite excited about it. When he turned up he was a bit nervous but soon relaxed. He was one of those really sweet guys, who you think that which ever girl or guy he ended up with, would be a very lucky person. '

Craig

All of the models featured here got on board with the motto and indeed, off went their clothes. For this piece, I thought I would a do a little 'after the jump' teasing and present models fully clothed before the big reveal. I love that Suntown also gives a few comments not just the shoot, but how these everyday hotties ended up wanting to take off their clothes and be shot. It is always fascinating to me to find out what motivates a guy to pose nude.

There are a few well known models on Suntowns ONLYFANS site, (Adam Cousins being one) but for the most part, they're just working guys, some wanting to make buck or two, others who have fantasised about being fantasised about, and the experience of posing naked.

To see the guys full naked, you have check out Suntown's site, but I couldn't of course do an entire tease post, without a satisfaction and a little follow through. Craig's sets on ONLYFANS are some of my favorites, and Suntown was more than happy to provide images beyond just the tease. Some of the shots were a bit more combustive than what I usually post on FH, but there were a few, that edged close to what I generally include in a piece.

With his bright eyes and sexy lips, not to mention his hot furry body, Craig looks adorable scrubbing down in the checker board shower.  Craig's enthusiasm and personality comes through beautifully in each of Suntown's images.

'You've seen Craig Edwards in the woods and in the bedroom. This time I got him to get in the bath room. I think he got things a bit mixed up because he got nice and clean and then get very messy. But he seems to enjoy showing how happy he is in front of the camera.'

'I will go butt naked!'
Locklan Gilbert

I know many have you seen this video, but thanks to ausCAPS, I have been come a bit obsessed with Survivor Australia's Locklan (Locky) Gilbert. As far as embarrassment nudity, this video is hot, although Locklan doesn't seem that embarrassed. His competitor pulled down his shorts on the way down the slide, which caused him to finish, and win the comp, completely naked.

I usually hate blurring, but given the Australian version of the reality show, kept Locklan's butt crystal clear, I won't complain. If you want to download a high res version of the video, or see dozens more caps from the show, head on over to asuCAPS HERE:

'Smile Like you have a naughty secret...'

Regular FH readers are aware of writer Michael, and his entertainment and pop culture blog Entertain Me. I have featured Michael's writings, and his habit, of usually being naked, many time before on FH. Today, I am assisting him, with an 'after the jump' tease. Although Michael's blog doesn't shy away from getting naughty, is is usually more with words, than with images.

Michael has a regular Thursday feature, Michael's Musings, and this week, he's getting a little edgy with a sex themed column of thoughts and musing. Michael often posts cropped images of his nudes, and this week, FH is the 'after the jump' site with the the full Monty in the image below. If you're an Entertain Me reader visiting FH for the first time, welcome, and un-buckle up and enjoy!
