Hell Raiser: Daniel by Gentlemen Only

Given my love of story, and the process piece of putting a shoot together, it is always a pleasure to check in with David and Gentlemen Only. David's focus has always been on finding that everyday guy, the guy you pass on the street, notice and wonder what he might look like without his clothes. Guys with regular jobs who have never modeled before, let alone without a stitch of clothing!
I love that David presents his images along with the story of how the guy ended up in front of his lens. He also features 'casting' images, shots that models supplied, or images that first introduced him to the model he is shooting. In the case of 30 year old Daniel Hemsworth, it included a shot with Brien, (second image above) one of Daniel's buddies who had also previously shot with David.
Now before you can say (or type) it, Daniel is gorgeous I know, great face, body and smile. We could only be so lucky to have an 'everyday' guy like Daniel to pass on the street. I know I would be finding more excuses to run to the drugstore or any other errand that might lead to an encounter. Given most of the men David shoots have never modeled however, sometimes it takes a lot time, lighting set-ups and poses to get just a few really great images. As you can see with Daniel, David more than succeeded, with every shot a winner.
In addition to Brien, Daniel had a quite a few friends who posed nude for David's camera, and appeared on his site. When Daniel first contacted David about modeling however, he was a little hesitant. Daniel is well known power lifter and wasn't sure about a doing a nude photo shoot, and whether it would be good for his athletic reputation. He and David continued to talk over the course of a year, and David says that as the old saying goes, patience is a virtue.
'One day Daniel came knocking on my door with a wide smile, twinkling green eyes, and was ready to show off for the camera.'
David shares that the moment they began to shoot he knew Daniel was a natural and the camera just loved him. Throughout the shoot, and their conversation, David was not surprised to learn that this was not the Daniel's first time in the spotlight. As well as being known for his power lifting, Daniel also flirted with fame as a teen on a well known reality show on at the time.
With a reputation of being somewhat of a little hell raiser, including being expelled from numerous school, David was approached by a TV production company who were making a new documentary series aimed at helping troubled teens. Daniel signed up for the show, then untitled, which later became knows as series 1 of Brat Camp, on Channel 4 in the UK. .
Being a reality show, Daniel could feel the show was a bit exploitative of the kids and their issues for entertainment, Daniel does feel the show helped him to grow and move past his aggression and leave the troubled times behind him. Today, Daniel is not only a successful power lifter, but also a personal trainer and occasional removal man, and tries to be the best father he can be for his young daughter
'Daniel snapchatted his way through the shoot, showing pics of himself (some nude) to his mates (including Brien) and some to girls he's currently interested in. Despite his initial hesitation to do a nude shoot, Daniel seemed happiest when his clothes had come off. He claimed not be an extrovert, but I think if Daniel could live his live his in the nude he would! i found his openness and energy totally charming, he was entertaining as he was handsome to look at I really hope I can get him back in front of the camera for more shoots.'
Although I wasn't lucky enough to be on the receiving end of those snapchat shots... Daniel does share the Full Monty on David's site. Since first seeing Tim Matheson's perfect backside flashed briefly in Animal House, I wondered where else his it may have made an appearance... I believe Tim had just three nude scenes, showing his butt again in a great scene in 1984's Impulse and another brief flash as he dives naked into a swimming pool in 1195's Midnight Heat.
One of his earliest skin scenes wasn't a nude scene, but the 19 year old Matheson did have a shirtless scene in 1968's Yours Mine and Ours. In the scene, Time is inspected by Tom Bosley after being drafted. Tim was briefly shirtless a couple of other times in the film that also featured Ben Murphy in a small role.

Tim Matheson: ACTORS & Skin
My Actors & Skin feature is one of my favorite pieces to put together on FH. Trying to cover all of an actor's uncovering however, can be time consuming. I spent an hour going through one of Tim's movies on Youtube looking for a nude scene only to discover later that it was edited version for television. I don't usually plan or think much about which actors I'm going to feature, they usually find a way of letting me know. Last week, actor Tim Matheson gave me the sign.
Animal House (1978)
One of my favorite current TV dramas is The Good Fight. I love the characters, the fast pace and especially the writing. Although the entire season has aired, I'm a little behind, and am only a few episodes in to season 2. One of the things I love best about the show is the guest cast and this season, Tim Matheson is playing Tully Nelson, who in the episode I watched last week was featured in a few shirtless bedroom scenes with Diane. A couple of days later, Animal House was playing on my 70's themed movie channel and between Tim's two appearances, I knew he should be next in line to skin. I actually have a love / hate relationship with Animal House. I hated the movie when I was a kid. My older brother loved it, and always managed to get my father to let him rent it as one of the two movies we were allowed to rent on Friday nights. I didn't appreciate the humour when I was a kid, and still have to admit John Belushi, is my least favorite part of the film.
But... I did manage to watch the first half hour or so, up until Tim's quick butt flash. I didn't really appreciate Tim at the time, I think when I was a kid I think I thought the cutest guy in the cast was Tom Hulce. When I re-watched lat week, lets just say I gained a new appreciation for Tim, especially in his toga. He is sexy as hell in the film, and I found myself wishing I was the Dean's wife Marion Wormer...
Tim Matheson has had an incredible career. A child actor in the 60's, a teen idol in the 70's, a film and TV star in the 70's, 80's, 90's and beyond. Tim Matheson has appeared in class shows including Leave it to Beaver, My Three Sons, Bonanza and Life With Lucy, through roles on Tucker's Witch, Wolf Lake, The West Wing and Heart of Dixie. On screen, he's appeared along side Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball in Your's Mine and Ours, with Chevy Chase in Fletch and films as diverse as 1941, Van Wilder and Magnum Force through Drop Dead Fred and Up The Creek.
Although Tim continues to appear in front of the camera, he also works behind it, directing movies and television shows. Some of Tim's directing work can be seen on Heart of Dixie, Lucifer, The Last Ship, Taken, Person of Interest and White Collar. Beginning in 1961, Tim has worked steadily on film and television carving out one of Hollywood's most successful careers.

Hans Fahrmeyer: Purely Classic
'Through his injection of art, color, collage and editing, Hans' images take on an urgency and produce an energy and sound that cannot be ignored.'
The quote above is one I wrote to describe a collection of images photographer Hans Fahrmeyer was putting together for his newest book. The images consisted of vibrant and colorful photo edits Hans had created using his original images as inspiration for artistically inspired collages.
Collage has always been a staple of art, something most of us learned as kids in art class. We all at one point cut out pictures from magazines and glued them on poster board using color, design and text to represent a message or theme.
When I was looking for new work of Hans to feature, I was struck by the evolution of his presentation of the male form. Over the last four plus decades, Hans imagery has taken on an urgency, become more intense, louder, pushing boundaries with both themes and his presentation.
Hans has always weaved in elements of sculpture and classic poses, but even through the various changes, Hans' images maintain a classic feel in his raw presentation of the male form.
This series of images consists of work shot between 1988 and 1992. With the exception of the models hair, which in some shots, certainly speaks to decade shot, the images have a pure and timeless quality. It is fascinating however to look for small clues that give away the time they were taken.
There appear to be far fewer tattoo's, fuller eyebrows, higher jeans, bigger hair, and virtually no hair on other parts of the body whatsoever. Hans' early work was often shot in black and white without many props, just a plain background with a clear focus on pose and the male form.

Rafael Licks: Receitas Deliciosas
In addition to acting and modeling, the delicious Rafael Licks is also a celebrity chef. I resisted a cheesy title like finger licking good, but with a hot chef with the last name Licks, it was hard to resist. I just discovered Rafael as a model for Ford Brasil, but some of you I know have heard of him before...
Rafael participated in Brasil's 2016 edition of Big Brother, and his towel 'slip' went viral at the time. Not sure how I missed it when it occurred, must have been during the many periods of time that I didn't pay too much attention to Big Brother, especially the International editions. But... as any of you watch them know, they are usually the most interesting, and, include the most nudity.

Great Grace: Faizan by PR Photo
'Faizan showed up at my rented condo in Chicago and I was blown away at first sight. He has the biggest brownest eyes I have ever seen. He's a beautiful man, the hair, the face, the body, he has the whole package.'
Faizan's beautiful brown eyes do indeed steal focus in so many of PR Photo's great shots, although Faizan's chest and arms provided some stiff competition. As PR describes, the 28 year old Chicago model does indeed have the complete package and I was struck by the skill and creativity Faizan utilized to best showcase his assets within his poses.
There are many models with striking features or beautiful eyes, but it's clear that Faizan clearly understands their power. PR perfectly utilized Faizan's prowess for connecting with the lens, not to mention the viewers behind it, to create a series of incredibly captivating images. Faizan's gaze seduces you in to a place you want to stay and enjoy for awhile.
I have been featuring PR's images for close to four years, and have really been in awe of the diverse group of incredible men he has been shooting over the last year, and have been bugging him about featuring as many as possible!
When he first connected with Faizan, PR learned that brown eyed beauty was a recent immigrant to the US having grown up in Pakistan. In Faizan's country of birth, his name is one of the among the most popular names for boy. Faizan has many meanings ranging from indicating great grace, success and beneficence through it's urban dictionary definition indicating man with a beautiful personality and an impressive manhood...
'We started the shoot on the retro spiral staircase in the condo and Faizan totally nailed it. Dressed in camouflage, he slowly undressed to a wife beater highlighting his hot dark body. His smile was infectious! I got him to take his shirt off and we moved to the couch where his wild side came out. It was nice to see him pose with some attitude. We ended with some cool shots in the kitchen. Headshots focusing on his beautiful face and eyes. He really is a beautiful man. I can't wait to work with Faizan the next time I'm in Chicago!'

Isaac Cole Powell: Highlight
This year's Tony Awards were full of memorable moments. Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles made the perfect hosts. Both are incredibly talented and had brief moments to shine, but both also seemed to know (unlike some previous hosts...) the night belonged to the nominee's. Other highlights included The Parkland drama students singing 525,600 minutes, Glenda Jackson's win, and Robert De Niro speaking for most of the audience, and much of the country.
As for performances, there were a slew, my favorites being from Bruce Springsteen and nominated musical The Band's Visit, Mean Girls and Once On This Island. Some of you might of noticed the opened shirted hottie shimmying across your screen in the form of actor Isaac Cole Powell who plays Daniel in the Broadway revival.

Alex Newell was incredible belting out Mamma Will Provide, but the 23 year Powell still managed to stand out. Youtube is yanking Tony performances as fast as they're uploaded, but the cast's performance of the number on Seth Meyers remains (HERE:) if anyone wants to check it out.

Just Because: Brad's Bikini Bod

If you follow actor Brock Ciarletti on Instagram, you're aware Brad Bottig has a rockin bod under all those patterned shirts he wore on The Middle. This week, Brock shared this beach pic featuring three of his hot buddies. Let's hope if there is a spin-off of The Middle coming, Brad is a big part!

A Vintage Vantage: Twelve of Tore
When working on the piece on Anton Z Risan, I was reminded of a folder in my 'blog' file with images of another hot Swede. Every time I research a post on a 'vintage' model, I inevitably come across image of the blonde and the beautiful Tore Lind. Tore has the classic facial features and physical traits we associate (and dream about) with hot Nordic men.
I know next to nothing about Tore, nor was it easy to find much info about him. There are lots of images out there, but not much information. Tore's first nudes that I could find appear to be from the late 50's or early 60's taken for the Scandinavian studio FotoGrafo. The remainder of Tore's shots are from Walter Kundzicz from Champion Studio from the mid sixties.

FH readers know how much I love a holiday, and last Halloween one of the themes I explored was the male witch. (HERE:) I spent a lot of time trying to find great images and during one of my searches, this one googling 'naked men with brooms', I came upon the image of Andrew (above) from artist Anton Z Risan. Although the broom in question looked more like a work broom than one designed for flying through the night, with the naked Andrew holding it while suspended in the air, it had a haunting fell that beautifully fit the theme.

The multifaceted London based artist is not only a photographer, Anton's resume also includes work as a director, architect, actor, dancer and model. It was actually Anton's work as a model that brought about the recent connection. While exploring his tumblr portfolio, was those hot men in the air that again drew my focus. At first I thought they must be edited images, the models look so still while suspended, without the usually visual signs of exertion most of the rest of us would be showing when jumping up and down. I was curious about Anton's process for the shots, and what sparked his interest in the theme.

A lot of them would put on the ‘zoolander’ model face, or trying to pose like they thought model should pose like. I would shoot them while they did, and when we looked over the images, we really liked the result.'

'As the guys would concentrate so hard on jumping that they would forget ‘fake-posing’ as such. I would ask the guys to stand natural straight up, and just jump with the feet/legs, while keeping the arms / legs and face natural and relaxed hanging down. And as you probably noticed, it turned into a bit of a theme, as both the agencies and the models themselves loved the effect ;-)As a photographer you just have to be a bit patient, and fast with your finger to capture it well, i would say you get one good out of maybe 5 shots.'

'I remember a nude shoot I did in Epping forest with photographer David Zanes who's now based in New York. I was hanging upside down with arched back high up in a tree completely nude. There was a women, who didn't see me up there, walking past with her three dogs and stopped and started chatting with David for like 10 min.... I was in so much pain from the tree bark lol but it turned out a great shoot so all worth it, and it gave us a good laugh after.'

Anton brings so much of his other talents into his work a photographer. His experience as a dancer supports his work with pose, movement and rhythm. His time as actor (Anton appeared in the Bruce La Bruce film Raspberry Reich) helps with the creation of drama and character and getting the most from a moment. Anton's architecture background helps with lines and design, and as you can see from the shot above, Anton knows what it's like to pose in the nude, even when up in the air. Anton says that being naked was never a big issue for him, and his relaxation also helps many of the models he's shooting.

I mean every summer we would go to a country house somewhere in a forest, and all run into the lake naked to cool off in the summer heat. I also have quite a relaxed, jokey kind of personality, which makes the guys relax even more, and showing mutual respect of what each guy is comfortable with as well as showing them the work during the shoot ensures a happy outcome for all parties.

'As a former model myself I think it makes it a bit easier to anticipate also what a model might be feeling, whether it’s a nude shoot or a fully clothed / underwear shoot.' For a lot of the models that I shot was it was their first proper shoot ever. Some of them were very nervous at the start, but after some joking around, and me clicking away they would all start to relax and make a good shoot out of it.I think it also helped that for the majority of the shoots it would be just me, the camera guy, and the model itself. No camera crew, no makeup artist, no stylist etc, so basically no pressure. We could take as long or as little time as needed for each shoot to get the best result out of it.'

Anton has always had a passion for photography, even back when he was a professional ballet dancer, he would always be photographing his fellow dancers. On or off the stage, on tour, Anton was always fascinated by dancers bodies and the shapes and forms they could so beautifully create. At 25, Anton decided it was time to stop dancing professionally and explore what other opportunities might be out there for him. A lot of his dancer friends began getting serious injuries, and this became one of my signs that it was time to look for another career.

In his first year shooting new models, and only on weekends, when he wasn't working full time as an architect. Anton guesses he shot close to 150 guys in and around London. 'It's a fascinating hobby indeed, and I love every second of it.'
