Luke Gardiner: Twinter

'During elder days in the Northwest of our world, the word for the period extending from the vernal equinox to the autumnal one was quite simply Summer — nothing more, and nothing else. The time between autumnal equinox and the vernal equinox was simply called winter.'

As human's, we always want more, including our seasons. Although today we have designated four, according to fiction, at least that written by J. R. R. Tolkien, we began with just two. Summer began with the vernal equinox, on about March 20th or 21st. Summer continued as the Sun crossed the celestial equator going north through to about September 22nd or 23rd when the Autumnal equinox occurred.

With the impact of climate change, and the length of Autumn and Spring decreasing, it might be time to consider going back to just two.  When there were two seasons, people's age was determined by how many winters they survived on earth.  By counting years as winter's survived, a two year old was called a twinter and a three year old a thrinter,  A twenty year old was described as a man of twenty winters.

Given this is photographer and model Luke Gardiner's second winter on FH, (See his first HERE:) twinter seemed a perfect theme, and a perfect title for the piece. I have great appreciation for any artist heading into the woods with their camera, whether shooting a model, or talking self shots.

There are elements when shooting outside, sunlight, wind, moisture and temperature that not only impact the skin and body, but also beautifully embed themselves within the final images. Moving out of the studio also provides an almost timeless quality to images, especially with nature as the background, and the sun and sky as your only source of light.  Except for the few pieces of fashion, these image of Luke, taken by Luke, could have been taken in Elder Days during Luke's twenty fourth year of winters.

'Shooting in the cold and snow can be very difficult. With last winter and so far this winter under my belt, with how frequently I go out to do so, the biggest things are: Be prepared, know your limits, and my biggest... knowing when it's worth it or not. Knowing when it's worth it or not isn't me saying if people are near (although of course at times that factors in) but more so it's just for my own health and safety to get buck naked deep in the woods far from warmth when it's 10-20 degrees out. Also the fact that I shoot almost everything myself is a factor. Nonetheless, it's safe to say it's my passion all that I do, or else I wouldn't put so much time and effort into it.'

12 Days: Brant Daugherty in Mingle All The Way

'When Molly and Jeff are matched by the Mingle All The Way app, they are both horrified to realize they’ve already had not one, but two disastrous previous encounters. Nevertheless, they agree to stay matched for all their respective upcoming holiday engagements.'

Usually the premises of most Hallmark Hallmark movies are rather weak, but I liked the idea of a dating app that provides you with a partner for all your work and family holiday obligations, a holiday date with no other strings, or presents to buy, attached.  What could could possibly go wrong...

I had seen images of the adorable and baby faced actor Brant Daugherty from his time on Pretty Little Liars (a show I have yet to binge) and his appearances on Dancing With The Stars and Battle of the Network Stars.  I had not however, actually seen any of his on-screen appearances until Mingle All The Way.

Pretty Little Liars

Well, the baby face has filled out nicely, especially with Brant not shaving as closely.  The body has filled out well itself.  In researching Brant I was shocked at how bulked up he got for his role as bodyguard Sawyer in Fifty Shades Freed.   He seems to have reached a middle ground and was more than captivating enough to keep my attention while watching Mingle All The Way.

Back in the 80's, when the Happy Days spin-off Joanie Love Chachi hit the air, it became a huge hit in Korea.  Rumor had it that one of the reasons was because Chachi was said to mean penis in Korean, meaning the show's title actually meant Joanie Loves Penis.

Truth is, Chachi doesn't mean penis Korean, but it didn't stop producer Garry Marshall and star Scott Baio from sharing the story while promoting the series.  The show might have been more successful, especially in the US if it had been named Joanie loves Chachi as viewers weren't so in love with the quickly cancelled show that went from placing 4th in the ratings to 70th in the span of just 17 short episodes.

But Happy Days was a pop culture sensation and Chachi, leg bandanna and all, along with other characters from the series are part of Mego's new action figure TV Favorites collection currently on sale at Target.  In addition to Happy Days, Mego has added characters from Betwitched, Married With Children, Charmed, Charlies Angels, The Brady Bunch, The Facts of Life (minus Natalie) and Cheers.

Now I know that action figures and dolls are not usually anatomically correct, but given that Baio bulge, sported in the many speedo shots of Scott on The Battle of the Network Stars, I thought a through investigation was in order.  Now, you may have to conduct your own research, but to me, they came pretty close to making a match.

Powerful and Intimate Images of model Terry Davis

23 year old model Terry Davis could ignite a powerful and intimate response with just a quick glance from those incredibly beautiful brown eyes of his. As magnificent as photographer Mark Leighton's many shots of Terry's sizzling hot body are, it was those seductive eyes that initially grabbed hold, and held on, to my attention.

I recently headed back to Mark's port to look for a new shot to include in my 'stocking stuffers' post.  I have posted pieces focused on the models spotlighted  Mark's book's over the past couple of years and was looking to find a new image for the Christmas piece that I hadn't used before. (And was successful with a hot shot of Ash!)  When checking out Mark's new work I immediately noticed Mark's breathtaking new shots of Terry and  quickly got in touch about featuring their work together.

Terry has as really strong presence in front of the camera and Mark made the most of it, taking a great variety of shots of Terry is surroundings as stunning as the model himself.  When I asked Mark about Terry he was in the process of just about finishing up readying his new compilation of work focused on the UK based model.

Mark decided this time to use the magazine format, putting together an 80 page edition available (HERE:) in both print, and Ebook downloadable versions.  Mark reports that Terry didn't hold anything back and that most of the images were shot on location and include many full nudes.

'Terry Davis flew from the UK to Portugal to shoot with me twice in 2018, each time for about a week. Although I knew he looked great, I had some misgivings that he might find my style of photography too open and sensual. Before we started shooting, as he told me a little about his life and his background, those doubts grew.  Remarkably, those experiences have not led him to dim his natural joy at living, his curiosity or his ambitions.'

'Once we started shooting, I realised that regardless of whether the image was “in character” for him or quiet alien to him, he would find a way to interpret and augment it – an instinct to “act” in his modeling and I was delighted to be proved wrong for having those misgivings. Terry was fun to work with. A lively, open minded and cheerful character who kept up a continual patter and did not take himself too seriously. However, when the camera was lifted up he would snap into his role. In my opinion Terry is extremely photogenic, I hope his images are well received and that we can work together again in the future.'

12 Days: Stephen Huszar in Return to Christmas Creek

'As Christmas approaches, Amelia returns to her small hometown of Christmas Creek to rediscover the meaning of Christmas. There, she reunites with her childhood best friend Mike and her estranged uncle Harry. As she engages in local holiday festivities — and begins falling for Mike — Amelia finds herself feeling the Christmas spirit'

I certainly find the Christmas spirit when thinking of actor Stephen Huszar.  I actually featured an image of Stephen back in 2009 when posting about the TV movie The 12 Days of Christmas.  Unfortunately, I was fixated on Mr. August (Jefferson Brown) at the time, and didn't pay nearly enough attention to the adorable Mr. July.

12 Men of Christmas (2009)

Although I still love me some Stephen Weber, when it came to watching Return to Christmas Creek, Mr July, or Mr Huszar, demanded my full attention.  Some of you might recognize the handsome Canadian actor from his roles on Smallville, The Flash, Paradise Falls, The Fridge and his recurring role in Crave TV's Letterkenny.  In addition to his Hallmark movies, Huszar also stars in next years remake of the David Cronenberg film Rabid.

FaVorite FiVe: Tristan Lake Leabu

Some shows excel at writing teen characters, while others never seem to know what to do with them.  The Young and the Restless seems to fall into the latter category and wrote out  Reed, and the actor who portrays him, 19 year old actor and musician Tristan Lake Leabuearlier this  year.

Well Reed is home for Christmas, giving the actor a reason to celebrate and post a series of hot new images on his Instagram Page.  Hopefully he'll stick around for awhile so Leabu won't have to return for the sequel to his Humira commercial.  Leabut is great in the ad, it just seems to play on cable on an endless loop.

I Touch My Elf

One the hottest signs that the holiday's are upon us is the return is when Broadway's Nick Adamsjoins the The Skivvies (Lauren Molina and Nick Cearley) for a series of holiday concerts.  This year, a highlight was Adams' medley about a lonely Christmas Elf.

It's hard to imagine Adams little Elf could be lonely, especially with how busy he's been recently.  After finishing up his dates with The Skivvies, Adams heads out as one of the leads in the National tour of The Falsetto's.

'Well, now that Jack Frost is back nipping at our noses once again, we thought you could use something to raise your temperature a degree or two---or 10. Just to review, Our man Tom stands 6'2" inches in his X-mas stockinged feet, has clocked 23 visits from Santa, and at a magically muscled 240 pounds, is our idea of one hot toddy! Mmmm--spicy! Has anybody seen that mistletoe?'

Blast From the Past: Keir Dullea

Until watching Black Christmas, actor Keir Dullea wasn't really on my radar.  Although he's been apart of several well known movies, including 2001: A Space Odyssey, it was Dullea's role in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof that first introduced me to the Ohio born actor.  When I was researching actors who'd taken on the role of Brick (A Ton of Bricks) I came upon images of Dullea in the 1974 Broadway production.

Dullea's theatre and film career began in the early sixties, and he has continued to work steadily since.  In the last few years, Dullea has appeared on television on Law & Order, Damages, Castle, and in the recent HBO production of Fahrenheit 451.  Although shirtless in many film and stage roles, I believe his own nude scene was the shower scene in 1973's Paperback Hero. Although purple isn't really known as a Christmas color, there is certainly something festive about these new selfies from model and dancer Jayktheknight.  Just like the hypnotizing effect of staring at the Christmas tree lights, I could stare into Jayk's deep purple haze for hours.

He Knows When You're Awake... Danny by Photography By Hugh

So you better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why

Twas the week before Christmas...   Although I have been posting some seasonal sightings and holiday themed shots in the 12 Days series, with just one week left until the 25th, it's time to welcome in the sexy Santa's in, but mostly out, of their his red and white fur, and black leather boots and belt.

I wanted to start with Photography by Hugh's shots of Santa Danny.  Some of you may remembered I featured some from this series on Boxing Day last year, (BoXed In) but tucked away a few other favorites to get this holiday season started.  My favorites are the two shots above of Danny peeking out the window...

As a kid, thinking that Santa was watching 24/7 was a little scary, so scary, many parents use it to their full advantage throughout December.  We've all overheard a parent at the mall telling a screaming child they're calling Santa a soon as they get home.  As an adult though, imagining a hot fur wearing Santa like Danny peeking at you when you're sleeping takes on an entirely different, not to mention incredibly erotic, merry meaning.

In Praise of Black Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house
a creature was stirring...

If you love Christmas, and also love Halloween and horror flicks, if you haven't seen it already, you need to check out Black Christmas. 1974 Canadian psychological slasher flick combines some of the best elements from the horror genre set in a very seventies Christmas setting.

Keir Dullea

During their Christmas break, a group of sorority girls are stalked by a phone calling stranger.  The films inspiration comes from both an urban legend, 'The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs, and the true story of a series of murders that took place in the Westmount section of Montreal.  The movie was produced and director by Bob Clark, maybe best known for his work on the Porky's movie series.

Although Clark included a lot of nudity in his Porky's series, except for the brief flash of a police officer shot in the butt, there's no nudity in Black Christmas.  It wasn't missed, the move's creepy premise, setting and characters are all you need to quickly pull you in to the story.

Andrea Martin

The eclectic cast includes Canadian actors Margot Kidder, a hot young Art Hindle and an early performance from Andrea Martin.  I am huge fan of Martin, especially her role in Difficult People, and loved seeing her in the seventies flick.  Gilda Radner originally had Martin's role until being cast in Saturday Night Live, leading to her having to leave the film.

Art Hindle

The film also stars Romeo and Juliette's Olivia Hussey and American actors Kier Dullea and John Saxton.   Marian Waldman Mrs. Mac, the girls housemother, but that role was originally offered to Bette Davis who ultimately turned it down.  Wladman was perfect in the role, but would have been great if Davis has been a part of the cult classic.

Keir Dullea plays Peter, the piano playing boyfriend of Jess. (Hussey)  One of the questions in the the film is whether it's Peter who is the one stalking Jess and her sorority sisters.  I won't spoil anything, but I will share more of Keir in a Blast From the Past post on Page 2 HERE:
