After Friday's feature, which had a focus on both form and location, heading to Europe to spotlight the work of Kevin, The Irish Model seemed a logical next stop. 33 year old Kevin is currently living in Germany but often travels back to London and Dublin, the two places he calls home. Kevin began his modeling career posing as an art model and loved the feeling of exposure.

Kevin describes himself as an exhibitionist and is not afraid to try anything in front of the camera. Kevin models for enjoyment, and for the joy of creating art. One of his favorite themes to explore is also one of my favorites to feature, the urban nude. Posing naked within and in front of city landmarks and architecture. Exploring abandoned buildings and old factories, side streets, graffiti filled walls, bus stops and anywhere really that you wouldn't normally expect to come across a naked man.

I have chosen some of my favorite locations where Kevin has dropped trou to feature in the blog. I love finding concepts I have not seen before and I think getting naked in a shopping cart might just be a new one for the blog!

Many of you who have enjoyed images from Seattle's famous Fremont Solstice Parade no doubt recognize the model featured in these images. For the past several years, he has glided down the street wearing nothing but a pair of rollerblades. It was at one of these parades in fact that photographer JayBee from Frisky Frolic first connected with his subject. JayBee tells me to soon look for more as two of his images were recently selected for the upcoming Seattle Erotic Arts Festival.

Although most of my posts are about men taking their clothes off, sometimes it is indeed the clothes that help make the man. Northwestern Wildcats player Kain Colter is usually seen in team's signature purple, but last week he looked pretty hot, uniform off...suit, on testifying on Capital Hill. Colter took to the mike to discuss the unionization of College sports With D.C. Lawmakers. He wore it well!

Unprompted Smile: Phil Bruce by Andrew Bowman

I love featuring the work of Oxford England's Andrew Bowman. Andrew's images are more than just sexy dipictions of the male form, they are bright, colorful and visually energetic. It is clear the man behind the camera isn't taking himself too seriously, really enjoys what he does, and strives to bring out that same joy within the subjects that he is shooting.


A couple of weeks ago, Andrew posted an image (the last one below) of 24 year old Performance Specialist, Personal Trainer and model Phil Bruce. All of the joy I feel when spending time with Andrew's work shone through the image of Phil, especially through his beautiful and incredibly infectious smile. I immediately shot Andrew a not asking about the possibility of featuring his work with Phil. Thankfully, both photographer and model were on board and these are some of my favorite shots from their work together.


'Our shoot together was first discussed before Christmas, and we finally got round to it in early March. This was mainly to fit in with my shooting schedule, which is mainly restricted to saturdays at the moment, and Phil's sporting activities. Phil is a physical instruction trainer, and as his facebook entries confirm, a very committed one.'


'Phil spent the morning in the gym in Staffordshire and then drove 170 miles down to the Oxfordshire shoot with his folks. We did a 4 hour shoot whilst his parents did a bit of sightseeing around Oxford. Phil was a really nice guy to work with and it was clear he puts 100% into everything he does. We mixed a bit of fashion, which is a nice change for me, with some fitness stringers and of course some daring undies (provided to me by L'Homme Invisible in Paris a few weeks before).'

If Phil's great body and incredible smile weren't enough to create great visuals, Phil also has such beautiful and brown eyes, full of expression. Phil's eyes draw you into whatever theme or mood he is going for. They light up when he smiles, and also be soulful and sad when required, expressing deep longing and pain. Phil also has a great body and look for fashion and is the perfect representative and model for anything he is wearing.


Phil clearly works hard to maintain his appearance and physique, with a strong passion for fitness and health. Phil covers the fitness spectrum from head to toe currently working around the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire area as a self employed sports performance specialist, personal trainer, fitness presenter, nutrition advisor, exercise instructor as well as football coach. If that weren't enough, Phil also plays Football Semi-Professionally, and runs his own Soccer School aptly titled; 'The Phil Bruce Soccer School'.


'It was fantastic to meet Andy, he is such a nice guy and an easy photographer to work with. We had both got a lot of different ideas, so there was a lot of variety from the shoot. We managed to get through three Robbie Williams albums during the shoot, which is ace as Robbie is a fellow Stokie and a hero of mine. Andy is a really good guy and we managed to talk about loads of things. I am really looking forward to working with him again in the near future.'

Adieu Kenny & Sarah

I am not sure why, but the producers of Canada's current incarnation of Big Brother seemed on a mission the last few weeks to get rid anyone with an interesting personality. The show, and so many of the fans it seems, have turned the once interesting hour into a popularity contest of nice. Andrew may have been a bit of a douche, but he was certainly no villain and compared to his counterparts in the US, downright pleasant. Sabrina seems to be generally hated but although I don't especially like her, she makes some interesting watching. I like Neda, but for the most part, the ones left on the show seem the least interesting, only likable if you buy the manipulative editing, especially with Adel and John.

Sadly, one of the most interesting showmances in the history of the show was broken up last night by the departure of Kenny Brain and Sarah Miller. Kenny was one of the first BB contestants and I could actually relate to and whose story mirrored my own in so many ways. Sarah's bond and infatuation with Kenny was made all the more interesting given he is gay, and she is married. I will miss them, they truly liked each other and actually had conversations that I found interesting to watch. The producers seem intent on pushing others, although this season, far more obviously than in the last. Thankfully, we were able to witness Kenny's coming out to his housemates (although a hastily and poorly edited version...) prior to his eviction, something I am sure was pushed by producers who clearly knew his days were numbered. Adieu Sarah and Kenny!

I haven't watched the wedding, in fact, I haven't watched at all in a while. I know Chandler Massey lost his oomph near the end, but during the early stages of his emotional acceptance, there was a raw vulnerability and magic in his portrayal that pulled me in. The magic is gone and for now, so am I.

Marine Lust by Ohm Photography

If you ask people what the opposite of happy is, almost all would likely reply with sad. Truth is, one cannot really know what either emotion truly feels like unless, they having felt the other. This connection, and dichotomy within emotions, is to me the soul of artist Ohm Phanphiroj's work. Ohm's images are incessant, staying with you emotionally, long after the visual has faded.


There is depth and intensity to the weaving of opposing emotions which Ohm continuously and skillfully taps into within his work. Sensuality and sorrow, loneliness and pain, and the fierce longing and desire that often accompany passion and love. Ohm images captures those moments 'just after'. Just after sex, just after a fight or break up, just after discovering something about yourself once hidden, has risen to the surface. Above all, Ohm captures that moment, when the thing or relationship, the one you thought would bring you a lifetime of happiness, disintegrates then dies, bringing on a flood of emotion that you are positive you cannot live through.


We all deal with dichotomy and opposing emotions within our lives, but it seems all the more profound for those who serve our country. Marines are expected to be heroes, putting their lives on the line for man and country. Yet, in order to earn the title of hero, marines often required, within the line of duty, to perform acts of violence and witness moments of brutality that can rock a persons soul at it's core. Even more difficult, is that the associated emotions often need to be suppressed, buried until the missions goals are achieved.


We all know emotions never remain buried for long, they lie and linger, simmering to a boil until they erupt. This simmering only adds to the intensity, often leading to the creation of an powerful spectrum of emotions from sadness and pain to all consuming passion, sexual desire and lust.


It is this lust which Ohm Phanphiroj taps into in this set of images of 21 year old marine Connor Davis. The blonde and blue eyed Snellville, Georgia model says that being a marine has helped him stay grounded and remain humble. That hasn't however suppressed his love of attention nor has it stopped his dreams of becoming a model. Connor one days see's himself modeling for Hollister or Abercrombie. With his incredible body, chiseled jaw, beautiful eyes and face the dream is destined to become a reality.

The Measure Of A Man: Vitalij by Serene Photography Ptd

'I am young, beautiful and ready to be seen!'


'Vitalij is an incredibly fresh and exciting model to photograph. To be honest I didn't really do my homework before hand and got who he is wrong. When I arrived in the studio he was already there, in the dressing room and putting on make up. I introduced myself and then asked him was he modelling as a female? I think it kind of stumped him for he stared at me and said "no it is in between male and female".'


Life can be beautifully complicated. Just when you think you have your head around a concept or idea, another one arises to challenge and test the limits of thought and boundary. Thankfully there are individuals with the courage to stand in front, taking the brunt of criticism, confusion and hate until finally, the new becomes accepted and we have another way of looking at who we are as humans and how we relate to one another in relationship.


I had never really heard of androgynous modeling until discovering Serene Photography's images of Vitalij. Certainly I have seen images and personality who straddle the worlds of both men and women, masculine and feminine. Musicians like David Bowie, Grace Jones, Marilyn Manson, Freddie Mercury, Prince and even recent Oscar winner Jared Leto have all weaved aspects of masculine and feminine with their look and public personas.


20 year old Vitalij has wanted to be a model since he was a child. The Belfast model got a taste of being in front of the camera at just 16, and decided he would love to more in the future. Committed to his work, Vitalij is currently finishing a performance arts program and is involved in both acting, and the writing of his schools productions. the performance aspect plays a strong part with his work as a model. There is something both very modern, and equally retro about his look and images. With one glance at Mark's images, you may see a brief hint of Peter Berlin, with another a maybe a bit of a Britney vibe. His face, incredibly youthful, his poses, incredibly elegant and mature.


New to shooting the male form, Mark wasn't sure he would be the best one to shoot the 20 year model, especially with his limited understanding of androgynous modeling. He was intrigued however, with Vitalij's look and was looking for a model to practice model photography on. Someone with an understanding, or at least someone who might be patient with him as he fiddled around with the lights and camera settings. Vitalij didn't make any contact with Mark initially, but a couple of months ago he placed a casting. Model and photographer agreed to meet for a shoot in Townhouse Studios in Belfast.


'Northern Ireland is still quite a testosterone driven society with gay issues not given an understanding that it needs to give society the knowledge it needs to accept the reasons and needs of the gay and lesbian community. With Vitalij coming from Russia, he is not fully aware of society here and special of the tensions we have living in for over 40 years of terror and war. Though society is marginally better and accepting foreign people into the country where before none were prepared to live here because of the troubles.'


'I was initially confused as to how I was going to capture the essence of a young man with make up in a manner that depicted him as neither male of female.   For me personally I love close up shots. If there is something you are attracted to or love, you will naturally take hold of the item and draw in closer to your eyes so that you can see every wee inch of it. So to get me relaxed and starting somewhere I started on a couple of headshots. Vitalij seemed nervous but he reciprocated with giving some beautiful images bringing his hands into focus to soften the presentation. As time passed, I could get a sense of what Vitalij was trying to achieve in the images. With the black cords and white t shirt being very male, he was trying to soften that look by posing in a way that a female would pose.' The combination of black clothes on his pale skin blond hair and white background give fresh youthful look.


'As the shoot progressed, so did Vitalij's confidence. Perhaps it was that confidence is what lead to the next level! He went into the dressing room and was away for about 8 minutes. I looked through the images and felt we had so far obtained images that will present him as a young fresh male and others that added the feminine positions into it that give just enough edge to know there is something else the model has in mind. When I heard Vitalij enter the room I looked up and saw a bare bottom heading to the screen. When he turned around he had a bunch of bananas in his hand. He politely asked if i could go into the changing room and bring in the pink chair which I did. For a while I watched him struggle to get the bananas to sit correctly. At one point, in almost despair tainted with humour, said in that soft Russian accent with a slight hint of camp, "my bananas are going to fall!!" It was hard to keep the face straight as I never thought at any time in my life would I be faced with with a guy sitting naked in a pink chair, bananas covering his private area and pleading for me to help position them!'


'Though Vitalij had props of his own at times he needed a bit of refining to create more energy into the image. The guitar was already in the dressing room and so he had not pre thought it out. The rest of the shoot was fairly standard. We found a hat in the studio and played around with covering himself with it through to full naked on the ground which, I feel for me produced the best images of Vitalij of the day. As he sat on the ground he with both legs slightly bent I asked him to straighten to back leg and bent the near one. When he done this he placed his elbow over the knee and his hand on his head. I almost shouted at him not to move. And the image was shot. The body lines are beautiful and youthful. His expression is innocent, and almost vulnerable and there is just a beautiful contrast with him against the black backdrop.'


'I never started taking photographs ever thinking I would be in a studio with someone like Vitalij. I started out photographing old churches and castles in Northern Ireland. To say Vitalij was both challenging and exciting is an understatement. Perhaps I have not capture him in a manner that others could have. Perhaps there was a massive opportunity missed. I have no official training in photography and am self taught. Last year I decided to add my love for fitness and bodybuilding into photography and so started to ask guys in the gym if I could photograph them. That lead to the model mayhem portfolio and to eventually finding Townhouse studios in Belfast where I am now seeking to learn light set ups. All in all the learning curve over the past 5 years has been immense, but it is so rewarding.'

Flaunt

I know most of you have already seen, and salivated over these images, but I wanted to post them here, and not just for the obvious reasons. In addition to the hot abs, and overuse of self tanner, there is something sort of interesting (and hot) about a shirtless Zac Efron on stage. Over the past few years it has appeared Efron has been trying to distance himself from the teen idol, teen pin-up label that wore so well for so long. Efron began taking on roles in more adult films, most notably, the powerful film The Paperboy.


This past year however, it seemed a smooth transition into the world of more respectable film projects might have seemed a bit boring for Efron. The actor has always been a bit of an exhibitionist, and he seems to not only enjoy, but actively participate in photo-ops that allow him to show a bit of skin. In a year that had Efron head back to teen comedies and his own personal struggles taking up much of his press, there is sort of vulnerability to need to show off. It is one part hot and another part highly calculated. His MTV strip down created a social media sensation and nothing Zac has done work wise has ever grabbed quite the same amount the attention he gets from taking off his shirt.

Just Because: Loving Bush

It is sometimes hard to understand disliking a man, but loving the women that surround him. I can't but help but love Barbara Bush, a feeling that transferred to her daughter in law Laura when listening to her speak so eloquently about gay marriage. Lately, I have been loving another female Bush, this time Jenna Bush Hager. Initially rather awkward on The Today Show, she has come in to her own the past year, always fun and full of energy there is a goofy, real quality about her that makes her a breath of fresh air. The one downside, with Bush in the wings, I think Kathie Lee might be worried about taking too many vacations in the future.
