Shedding Fur: Beau Breedlove by Studio1x
'Beau is one of the sweetest guys you will ever meet. He has many talents, he does on line fitness training, he is a baker and has some wonderful cookbooks published, which you can purchase on line, he is a gardener, husband, father just to name a few. I was very eager to start the editing process of all the photos that we took and was able to give him some sneak peaks by the time he got home.'
When Studio1x's Jim mentions about 'all those photos', he meant ALL those photos. Jim originally sent along this series of images along with the set of shots of model Beau Breedlove in the red onesie that I used to celebrate Romjul on Boxing Day of last year. (HERE:) There were so many images (hundreds!) and so many great shots, I had to separate the themes if I was to have any hope in narrowing down my favorites.
The theme was winter, so the red onesie, and the fake fur were the perfect fashion choices for Beau to both wear and of course bare, his incredible body. These shots had me remembering the old fur coat my mother used have wrapped in heavy plastic at the back of her closet. That fur... was unfortunately real. I don't remember my mother ever actually wearing it, but given it was given to her after he own mother died, it was kept, for awhile anyway, for sentimental reasons.
I don't think many people today keep real furs in the back of their closets, at least not ones wrapped in plastic that they'd never think of wearing. If you grew up in the eighties or nineties though, it wasn't that uncommon. Although they eventually became 'symbols of wealth', especially in eighties prime time soap operas, it wasn't away that way. That fur coat remained in my mother's closet until I was about 17. During a move and a downsize to a smaller home, the fur, along with many items once held as sentimental, didn't make the cut and were thrown out, sold or given away.
The fur remained in the back of that closet however, long enough for me to be briefly infatuated with it. I remember distinctly the smell, and the sound of my removing the plastic, to try it on. I of course waited until I was home alone, and believe me, it wasn't an easy task to get that plastic off, and back on again.
Not wanting to be 'caught', I painstakingly wrapped it back up, hoping, it wouldn't be noticed. I always suspected my mother knew, but she never said a word. My siblings an I were always rooting through my parents bedroom, especially at Christmas, I think they got used to things never being exactly as they remembered...
I'd not thought about that coat in years, not until seeing Jim's shots of Beau. I was only about 10 or 11 when I tried on that coat, but I still remember there was a feeling of... I guess luxury, especially when the fur touched my skin. Beau beautifully drapes, and undrapes, the fur from his body, letting it slowly, and erotically, slide down his skin.
I love the visual contrast between Beau's skin and the dark fur. Jim's images also had me re-thinking my stance on wearing real fur... Not an animal fur, I hate animal cruelty in any fashion, and would never buy, wear, or even hang out with someone wearing an animal fur. But... I could easily envision myself wrapped up in a soft coat made up of Beau's sexy scruff of facial hair....

Favorite Face of the Day: Donald Maclean Jr.
Save one life, you’re a hero. Save 100 lives, you’re a nurse.
I first noticed actor Donald MacLean JR. when promos for his new show Nurses began popping up on cable networks last fall. In addition to finding him incredibly hot, I also felt that there was something very familiar about the actor. After checking out his IMDB page, I knew I hadn't seen him in anything before, but I couldn't shake the feeling that he reminded me of someone.... I'll figure it out.
Many of you may not have seen the Canadian drama, but I did find it on-line and checked out the first three episodes. Although nurses are at the core of most hospital dramas, not many make them the focus. Although the show has it's soap moments, I've enjoyed what I've seen so far, and in the last episode that I saw MacLean's character Wolf seems headed for trouble...
Canada Eh!
If you can't watch Nurses, you'll soon be able to see MacLean on the big screen. It was recently announced that he'll be joining David Duchovny and Michelle Monaghan in a re-make of The Craft. Seems odd to be already be re-making a film from 1996, but any movie about a coven of high school aged witches is worth a look, or at least a download.

Diego Villarreal: Behind the Lens
Traveling the globe for shoots and runway assignments, Spanish model Diego Villarrealoften finds himself sharing places and intimate spaces with other many other models. Although Diego seems to especially enjoying shooting female models, often with sexually charged results, given this is FH, I focused on his shots of fellow male models.
When a models steps behind the camera, it's always fascinating to see what experiences they bring from modeling into their artistic visuals. Diego certainly brings the intense sensuality he exudes in front of the lens to his work behind it and I love the mood and intensity he captures.

The Tine Wheel: Ben by Lights On Studio
'I had purchased this tine, a farm tool, and have been wanting to use it in a session...
'The idea is sort of a take off of the classic Greek sculpture "The Discus Thrower" by Myron 480 - 445 b.c. . It is an example of , harmony and balance that Myron is credited to being the first to master the style. We did quite a few different images with this farm implement.'

Bodies Building: Ben by Lights On Studio
'Everybody's life has these moments, where one thing leads to another. Some are big and obvious and some are small and seemingly insignificant.'
Peter Jackson
In addition to having their work seen, one of the main reasons models and artists share their work on-line, including with FH is to build connections. Both models and photographers often choose to work with based on what they've seen. I rarely feature an artist based on something I've read, more than references or a resume, a truly great image is the best form of promotion.
When you shoot bodies, or bodybuilders, it helps to have one who no only sings your praises, but shares the results with fellow bodybuilders. That's exactly how the magnificent Ben ended up in from the lens of photographer Tom Nakielski fromLights On Studio. Ben's story actually starts with Nate, and an unplanned meeting at a local restaurant.
'I was having breakfast and looked up just in time to see Nate walk in. He immediately caught my attention. Good looks, great shape and wielding a sword. I am usually shy and apprehensive about approaching strangers to have a photo session, the friend I was with encouraged me to approach Nate. So I went up to him and asked him about the sword.'
Turns out, Nate had only just won that sword, coming first at a local physique contest. Eager to talk about it, Tom seized on his positive response by giving him his car and suggesting a photo session. A few days later, Nate called for a session. Cut to a few months later when Tom was contacted by Ben. Ben had seen his friends Nate's shots and also wanted to get together for a shoot.
'Ben was getting ready for a competition and wanted a session several days before the event when he was in top form. He was mostly interested in body shots and I agreed and suggested that we also do some images that were more on the artsy side. He said ok and was willing to do nudes, just not frontal shots. Who am I to complain when there was the opportunity to photograph such a beautiful specimen of the male physique. '
'Ben was an easy subject to photograph. He could just stand there and look amazing. He was quite quiet during the session but seemed very comfortable. He had no problem doing the nudes and tease shots. He must have been happy with the results as he later contacted me for a second session. These shots are all from our first shoot together.'
Some of you may recognize Ben from an early feature back in 2016 focused on some of Tom's favorite shots. When I first checked out Tom's portfolio, I was immediately drawn to his work with Ben. I can't believe it's taken this long to spotlight their two shoots together! Tom's currently working on getting the second shoot ready to send on, but if you can't wait, there's more Ben on PAGE 2 HERE:

Where Not to Put Your Penis....
'Dozens of police and paramedics were called to a local park in Hong Kong after reports of a man getting his penis stuck in the hole of a metal park bench. He told police he did it because he thought it'd be fun to have sex with the bench. He was wrong.'
We've all had those moments of thinking it 'might be fun' to put our penis somewhere it really doesn't belong... It's almost a compulsion, to take the risks in hopes of a climatic reward. Jason Biggs managed a warm entry in American Pie, but not everyone was so luck. After the films, many men ended up in emergency rooms with serious burns because they couldn't wait for those pies to cool...
Where it's a stove burner, warm soup or experiments with package wrapping, many of us have bad memories, and experiences with penis placement. Given duct tape can hold a muffler on a moving car, it shouldn't be a surprise it's pretty painful to pull off a penis.
Many you might remember Josh, and Josh's penis, from a feature from last August. (Summer Shadows) In this series of images, Josh leans into his compulsion, enjoying the uneasy feeling of risk. Josh not only wanted to experience that uneasy feeling himself, but also wanted the viewer to feel that risky feeling when you're not really sure how things are going to end.
This series of images was shot by several different photographers and I think part of the fun for Josh was seeing their reactions when he suggested a concept, or place to plant his penis. He also describes it as fun and erotic to make contact with different and unusual objects and scenarios. Although some places might have had a welcoming warmth, many were incredibly cold but as you can see, neither Josh or nor his penis ever withered back or flinched!

Eddie Cahill: The One with Rachel's Assistant
'I like your teeny tiny tooshie'
Rachel Green
Friends
Catching an old re-run of Friends last week, I was reminded of the engaging charm, and the massive adorability factor of actor Eddie Cahill. I first noticed Cahill as the bisexual Sean on a season 3 episode of Sex and the City, the same year he began his short stint on Friends. Cahill's turn as Tag Jones was short but memorable, and was briefly in the running to be the father of Rachel's baby.
Cahill's popularity as Tag lead to a string of roles on The WB. The network tried hard to find a home for the actor, starting with guest shots on Charmed, Felicity and Dawson's Creek. Cahill nabbed the lead in the series Demontown (later renamed Glory Days) but the series only lasted 9 episodes. Created by Dawson's Creek creator Kevin Williamson, Glory Days was originally conceived as to be similar to Dawson's Creek, but the pilot was re-shot at the networks request to add a more mysterious and supernatural feel.
After his turn on the WB, it was back to network television for long term stints on CSI: New York and guest starring roles on Hawaii Five-0, Conviction NCIS: New Orleans and Under The Dome. I've never watched a CSI, so Cahill's turn as Tag was the last time I really saw him on TV, but judging by some recent promotional shots, he has't lost a bit of his appeal.

The Causality Dilemma: Lucas by Cooks Photography
'It's the man behind the music
It's the singer not the song'
Survivor
The classic chicken or egg question is a causality dilemma used to determine consequence and responsibility. The question examines the relationship between one person or event with another second person or event. The dilemma is figuring out how much the first person or event connects or determines what happens with the second.
In the case of images of the male form, the first person event is the photographer or the photoshoot and the second, the model and final image. Music groups Survivor and The Rolling Stones both sang about, and then decided, that it was the singer not the song. With photography, the question is a little more complex. When you have an incredible visual like the rocky mountains, Niagara Falls, or a stunning sunset, almost anyone with a camera, can pull off getting a decent capture. With a human subject however, even an incredibly hot model doesn't necessarily guarantee a hot shot.
It's always frustrating as a viewer to see a beautiful model poorly capture. Working on FH, I have come across many weak shots of hot model. In some cases the model may have been awkward, or felt uncomfortable, or it's obvious the photographer was looking to focus on body parts, and not the male form in it's entirety. Unlike a sunset, photography of the male form depends on the connection between the artist and their subject.
The connection isn't necessarily just social, sure they may talk, get to know each other and discuss shared creative concepts. The connection I'm speaking of however, isn't really verbal, it's more that sense an artist has for how best to capture the specific individual in front of them. These artists instinctively know what poses, what angles, what set-ups will best spotlight both a models physique, and glimpse into their sensuality essence.
Every time I feature the work of California photographer Hal Cooks, I'm amazed at his ability to weave body and sensuality and how his shots peel away the surface veneer shooting erotically organic captures of the models in front of his camera. Hal does this in various ways, the most notable being his passion for lines and curves.
'Not all photographers utilize the architectural beauty the lines and curves the male form are capable of creating, but it's something I have been especially loving in so much of Hal's work. Many focus on specific body parts, ignoring the dynamic visuals possible when focused on the overall systemic beauty of the human body.'
Through his use of pose and his eye for lines and curves, Hal manages to create images with models who move and pose like dancers, even though they're not. Lucas has no dance or movement training in back ground, and Hal describes his demeanor as casual and very laid back during the shoot Despite his causal demeanor, the amateur model, dad and father.is is captivating in front of the lens. Lucas' eyes certainly play a role, but more notably, it's the manner in which Hal so elegantly visualizes, poses and captures his subjects.
