Jonathan Stanton by Walter Tabayoyong

I first came upon the work of artist Walter Tabayoyong back in 2009 when working on a profile of model and dancer Luke Manley. Walter's background in fashion illustration and dance, blend exceptionally together creating strikingly beautiful images. Walter knows how well the bodies fluidity of movement can be captured giving energy to even a still image.

The energy that Walter is able to produce has led to him shooting some of the biggest names in the entertainment business. Some of his clients have included: Playboy and Maxim magazines, Jockey Underwear, Hugo Boss and celebrities such as Alanis Morissette, Toni Braxton, Owen Wilson, Victor Webster and Joe Manganiello.

Actor Jonathan Stanton is also on that list, Walter has shot Jonathan numerous times in various locations around LA. For Walter, there is specific intent that comes with shooting Jonathan. Walter is also Jonathan's manager, so the images must not only serve to make Jonathan look amazing, they are also representative of his career as an actor. These recent images, along with Jonathan's acting resume, are what casting directors will be using. As can be clearly seen, Walter has created a series of images which will certainly ensure Jonathan receives the attention he deserves and stand out from the rest!

Jonathan's athleticism lead to some incredible shots and his ethnic background, a mixture of Korean and Polish decent, create a sexy, exotic and unique look. Growing up in Asheville, North Carolina, Jonathan's step-mother taught him the values of honesty, hard-work, and dependability. Jonathan believes in the power of the human spirit. For him, the service to others is essential to his nature. The Flower of Life symbol, which makes up his logo and serves as a personal manifesto, has always resonated and serves as a constant reminder to Jonathan, that the connections made in life are all part of a greater plan.

From Jonathan's site:
His confidence and commitment to health, yoga, Jeet Kune Do, surfing and physical training have provided modeling opportunities in fashion shows, art exhibits, marketing media, and now acting. Modeling has allowed him to work with talented photographers and artists in a profession, which is as much about art, as it is about image. Jonathan is especially excited about portraying and appealing to the Asian market, in fashion and film and abroad. Currently, he is actively pursuing work in the film industry as a means of channeling positive energy into something that has an artistic end, and would lead him to other endeavors.

Actor Jonathan Stanton has the body and determination to be an action star, but the actors main goal is to take on any character as long as it's exciting, interesting and most of all challenging. There was a time Asian actors struggled to find variety with roles, especially lead roles but Jonathan see's that beginning to change. In the 80's, African-Americans broke grounds followed by Latin-American actors and now the doors are opening for Asian-American actors, and Jonathan is ready to be one of the pioneers. The actor feels the industry is finally embracing Asian actors and are creating more opportunities within casting.

Jonathan was inspired to pursue acting by an eclectic group of actors. Jonathan has followed the careers of Rupert Everett, Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, Ryan Gosling, Bruce Lee, Idris Elba and Meryl Streep. Some of movies that he has loved and have inspired him include: Drive, Wanted, Clueless, My Best Friend's Wedding, Enter the Dragon, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Devil Wears Prada.

Jonathan has been making the transition from modeling to acting and finds the process exciting, discovering himself along the process of manoeuvring his way though his artistry. As you can clearly see from his images, Jonathan brings the same passion to his work as a model, as he does to his acting. There is an intensity and drive streaming from his beautiful brown eyes. Jonathan's drive, and his talent, were recently recognized when he was listed as one of the Top 40 Asian Actors Under 40 to Watch for in Hollywood on IMDB. Jonathan's star is on the rise and with his social media platforms show, he has been building a strong international following primarily in Asia and Europe.

Police respond after woman in purple nightgown spotted walking a naked man on all fours with a leash on rural road...

Police in West Virginia had to respond to a bizarre incident on Tuesday morning when members of the public called in to say they had seen a naked man being walked on a leash by a woman in a purple nightgown. The man was wearing a hood over his head, his ankles were bound and Lt. Nelson Croft of the Sheriff's Office in Ohio County, West Virginia called it the 'Weirdest day ever. Yep, I hope it is the weirdest day ever.'

For many, a trip to FH means enjoying incredible images of incredible men. Regular readers know however, that one of the joys for me, is taking a journey through images, to places I have only been able to dream about. I have featured the work of many photographers and models who have originated from Switzerland, but I believe this to be my first visual journey to the country itself.

Growing up in North America, it has always amazed me how little time in school is given to the world outside of our borders. Most of my knowledge of Switzerland, especially as a child came from the movies. Many of us have memories of at one time or another, usually over the Christmas holidays, watching one of the film versions of Heidi. I don't really remember much about the movie, but it did leave a strong and lasting impression of the incredible beauty of the land, lakes and mountains of the region.

I flashed back back to that impression upon seeing my first images from photographer Alain from AlfenPhotography. The image was of model Carlos Lopez and the backdrop, the breathtaking Swiss landscape. Alain says that for him photography is a hobby, he shoots for fun and to extend his knowledge and experience. For this set of images, Carlos, far from his home in Madrid, joined Alain in various locations around the country from Glattalp to the Neu Falkenstein castle ruins.

'Shooting in remote locations and atop mountains sometimes requires long walks but luckily we have lots of cable cars to help us up. The area of Glattalp is one of the coldest regions of Switzerland in the winter. It is a karst landscape. The limestone formation is exceptional. I have done a few shoots with Carlos and once one have new ideas we try to realize them.'

Originally from South America, Alain describes Carlos as very confident with his body and very easy to work with. Although the background may be spectacular, Alain says that for him, the focus is on the model and the background is used to support the model. Alain tries to choose his locations based on his models personality and their body shape and how Alain can visualize him within the setting. Thankfully with these images, we are all able to see the realization of that vision.

A few weeks ago I posted about the premiere of the new Sunday Night legal themed soap Reckless. Initially it was the ultra hot Cam Gigandet who drew me to the project and the southern heat he was sure to display. It was a pleasant surprise though to find included in the cast, Gregory Harrison, an actor whose gotten hearts beating for the last five decades. Gregory plays Dec Fortnum (something dirty about that name) and although the story is hit and miss, I have basically stuck with the show.

Gregory Harrison first came to the attention of hunk aficionado's in 1973 when he removed all of his clothes and joined Don Johnson in The Harrad Experiment. Gregory became a superstar with his appearances in Trapper John (1979) and playing a male stripper in the 1981 television movie For Ladies Only.

I was a little too young to see those projects when they first came out, but thankfully for e-bay, Amazon and Youtube, I am well caught up! I do remember being introduced to Gregory during the late 80's when movie and tv magazines were using a shirtless, and very sweaty Harrison, to promote the Carol Burnett Prime Time Soap parody Fresno. I remember being angry when I was not allowed to stay up and watch, but the images I had cut out of those magazines got the job done.

I have featured Harrison a few times on the blog, there is something about that dark curly hair and that amazing body that gets my blood flowing. Now 64, he is still looking fine on Reckless, still drool worthy, fulfilling the daddy fantasy's of many I am sure. A Harrison/Gigandet sandwich doesn't sound half bad!

Victor by New Manhattan Studios

'Victor was one of those models who shows up periodically to remind me how bad I am at prejudging how someone will look on camera.'

As long as I've been photographing people, it never ceases to amaze me how poor I am at guessing who is and who isn’t going to look good in the finished photographs. I have had some stunningly good-looking men and women in front of my camera that don’t, for whatever reason, look nearly as good in two dimensions as they look in person. Alternatively, I have had some very average-looking people who photograph like super stars.

I refrain from doing “cosmetic surgery” in Photoshop, but as a photographer I know that there are things that I can (and should) do with lighting, camera angles and poses to maximize a model’s potential (or minimize a weakness). Victor did not require any special considerations or lighting, but I was not prepared for what I saw when I started processing his images.

Now don’t get me wrong, Victor is a very attractive young man. But when he walked into the studio I was not particularly impressed with the 19-year-old with some rather rough edges. Fresh off the bus from Oklahoma, he announced that he wanted to be an A&F model. (“Good luck with that,” I thought. “The line starts over there.”)

When he told me that he already had a job with the store, I was impressed; impressed that he knew that a prerequisite for landing a spot in the Abercrombie catalogue is actually working in one of the stores. Still, standing before me, I saw nothing that separated him from the scores of other models his age whose ambitions are to be an A&F model.

Victor is quiet, polite and unassuming. At 19, he was still in school when we worked together and, having recently moved to the metropolitan area from the Midwest, he didn’t throw off any of the “hot shit New York Model” vibes that I encounter all too often. He was working hard on his physique and just starting to make the rounds in New York. He was, in a word, “refreshing” to work with.

But nothing during our uneventful 3-hour first session prepared me for the delightful surprise I had when I downloaded Victor’s images to my computer and started reviewing his photos. After a quick scan of just the first few dozen I was struck by the realization that, indeed, this kid does have the potential to be an A&F model. With his blond hair and classic looks, he’s the embodiment of the Abercrombie look! I will repeat, “Victor is an attractive young man” and I will add “who photographs extremely well.” At six foot and 150 pounds, if he works at it, he may well succeed as a model in this town.

Happy with the results of the first session, I offered Victor an additional session and a possible slot in one of the studio’s published portfolios. He agreed, with the understanding that the work would require some implied, partial or full nudity. At one point during his second session I asked him how he got interested in modeling. He responded that it was his mother’s idea.

Later, as he was standing nude on the paper, I couldn’t help but wonder what his Mom would think of these pictures. With such a good-looking son, I guessed she might be a model, too. When I asked him what she does, he said his Mom was not a model but she was managing his career. She sees all the pictures.

I'm happy to report that Victor told me that Mom liked the pictures. We did, too; so much so that they’ve earned Victor a place in our 2014 models portfolio, Gramercy Square. Victor will be one of six New York models featured in the book that will be published this fall. And I'm also happy to report that at 19, Victor has succeeded in branching out of modeling into an acting career as well. He’s already landed the lead in an indie film playing the young James Dean! I can’t help but wonder how I’d have reacted if the young James Dean had walked into my studio. Could I have envisioned how great the 19-year-old from Indiana would look on the big screen?

A special video presentation of Victor’s photo shoots with New Manhattan Studios has been prepared exclusively for the readers of Favorite Hunks. You can see that video by clicking HERE: or visit Victor’s gallery at New Manhattan Studios by clicking HERE. Victor’s is one of nearly 50 galleries at NewManhattanStudios.com, featuring models from New York and around the world that have worked with the studio.

One of the most rewarding thing about working on FH is relationships. Over the last eight years or so, I feel privileged to have formed relationships with a number of artists whose work both inspires and motivates me to continue with the blog. Wesley from New Manhattan Studios is without a doubt one of those artists.

I love nothing more than when an artist takes me with them on a journey through the process of creating, and Wes is a skilled and patient guide. In each of the pieces we have worked on together, Wes has walked me through the shooting process, the early stages of editing and the introduction of the gallery of final images on his website. Wes has also ensured that he tucks away a few images, exclusively for readers of FH.

The process of bring this incredible set of images of Victor to you wasn't one without twists and turns in the road. I believe Wes first mentioned his work with Victor back in April, and soon after I had a few teases of the magic that was occurring. I knew instantly I wanted to feature Wes' images of Victor. His incredible face, and beautiful green eyes are enchanting, and all the more incredible given that Victor didn't always look as he does now. He has worked hard on his body causing a metamorphosis, creating a look that matches his modeling and acting ambitions.

Since April however, many things got in the way, intercepting and slowing down the process of finally unveiling the images. Other work, trips and maybe most of all the artist's professionalism created pause. Although their first shoot together resulted in some great images, Victor was continuing to work on his physique and Wes had creative idea's he wanted to work on in additional shoots, to ensure he captured the best images of Victor possible before putting together the post. In this post, and the post below, you will see the results of those shoots. Deffinetly worth the wait! In the post below, I put my keyboard down and Wes takes over, sharing with FH readers his thoughts on the process and working with Victor.

Obscene

Almost every television season there is a story of an actor or actress negotiating with a network over a salary. Sometimes, as with Larry Hagman, the casts of Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond, playing hard ball as a show is about to go into production has worked. I get and understand if a product, in this case a television show, makes a certain amount of money, the actors involved should be rewarded for their participation in the show's success. That being said, what makes actors any more important than all the other creative people involved with the show? I guess that is us. We care if an actor leaves a show, most of us would not care, or notice if a producer, director, writer or creator were turfed to the side.

I find the salaries recently negotiated for the cast of The Big Bang Theory obscene. I know percentage wise, they may be technically fair, but particular skill or talent do Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, and Kaley Cuoco have to warrant making ninety million dollars over three years? What is so special about Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg have to warrant seventy? I get it is show business and multi-million dollar salaries for actors and athletes have been the norm for decades. For some reason reading about this particular group of actors bugged me more than most. Big Bang is a funny show, but regardless of how much money the show makes, measuring each of the actors time commitment and work input, with their financial output doesn't in any way balance out. Sort of sucks the enjoyment out of watching the twenty two minutes those billions created.

Megalomaniac: The Real Seth Storm?

Seth Storm:
-Model, Wannabe Photographer, ElectroPopCore! Singer, Super Villain

Just like Brock in the piece above, Seth Storm doesn't want to be defined by a label. Seth says that its hard to define himself just as a Model. Being a model, especially a male model, already comes with assumptions and judgements of others. Seth is an artist and believe art is far too complex to define and to cage. Seth's artistry can literally be felt and seen in everything he touches. His modeling, his photography, his music, even his web pages are designed not just to share, but to stimulate each of the senses of those who experience them.

I first contacted Seth in May of last year, but as often happens, my message got lost until Seth stumbled upon it and contacted me last month. When I first sent that message, I knew Seth only as the hot blonde model in a series of images that I had seen from photographer Lucas Ferrier. After that, a little research uncovered many more of his various talents. When Seth contacted me last month, the blonde hair was gone, the body more defined and his career, post Storm.

Image below from Reflex Studio

'The storm is a metaphor, a reflection on the comics, The Reboot Trend. Seth Storm is a reboot of my former "self" (Character Speaking). I even started a sort of narrative continuity about it. I know it sounds megalomaniac, maybe I AM Megalomaniac, but again it's just a metaphor, and, on a smaller scale, a provocation.'

Next two images from Arteo Photo Kevin Moore

There is nothing little about the scale of Seth's artistry, as you can see clearly in the video below of 'Struggle For The Crown.' The video is Epic with impressive graphic and effects. The song is also addictive, and I found the music, and the melody, running through my head hours after having listened. With the title, the obvious question for Seth was about that struggle, and if the crown is a thing, or a feeling.

'My biggest Struggle, uh, probably becoming someone different, starting from the "me" in High School. But the song is talking about the everyday Struggle that someone willing to be "known", to have a career has to face, just watching TV or speaking with other people ("Oh, you serious? You can't be serious! You're just a fool! You can't make it!"). The Crown is, in fact, the right to be a "King", and be respected as one.'

3 images below from Lucas Ferrier

The crown also currently includes a few modeling goals including becoming a published fitness model. Seth has been working as hard on body as he has with all of his endeavours, and is more than ready to find just the right photographer to do it justice! If Seth doesn't find anyone soon, he might just consider doing the job himself. Seth has been focusing on his own photography, shooting others, and himself. Seth's selfies (at the top and bottom of this post) show not only skill and creativity, but demonstrate he instinctively knows how to draw out the best, and most sensual, parts of himself.

Although usually not a huge fan of the selfie, I have had a change of heart after spending time on Seth's social media pages!

Scene Stealer: Brock Ciarlelli

'Its important to laugh. Laugh loudly, laugh often. And most important, laugh at yourself.'

One of the joys of discovering ABC's The Middle has been enjoying the work of actor Brock Ciarlelli. As Sue Heck's (Eden Sher) best friend Brad, Brock has provided the show with many magic moments. I love that although Brad might be officially in the closet, he doesn't hide who he is, nor what he loves. It also never seems to stop him from being his true and wonderful self.

Brad personifies joy. He is usually smiling ear to ear, jumping into his passions (which range from wrestling to square dancing) with flair and endless energy. Actor Brock Ciarlelli seems to share the same joy his alter ego finds in pursuing his passions. Thankfully, there are many gay characters on the television landscape today, but there is something quite unique and special about Brad. Brock plays Brad with wonderfully restrained flamboyance, fun but not over the top. He is who he is, and yet, except for a few whispers about his sexuality from the senior Hecks, is able to maneuver through the show, and his life without a label to weigh him down.
