Military Adjacent: Michael by YogaBear Studio

'Yes, I am one of those exhibitionist guys who is very comfortable and confident in his own skin. I love to be naked and don't mind other people seeing me that way!'

Most regular visitors to FH know I love the work of David from YogaBear Studio and regularly feature his imagery. Many of you also might remember the FH debut last summer of writer, actor and fellow blogger Michael. (Entertain Me: A Blogger Bared) With Michael's love of removing his clothes, and David's skill at capturing it, it seemed appropriate to join them both for a day at the beach.

David and Michael first met up at the San Onofre nude beach in California to shoot and Michael says he has loved working with David ever since. Michael describes David as relaxed and easy going and strives to create a realistic portrait of each individual he is shooting. Something that never ceases to fascinate me, is the motivation behind why people take it all off for the camera. For some, it is strictly a business decision motivated by career and commerce. For others, there is a more personal, often spiritual piece behind the motivation. Given he is a writer, I asked Michael to share with me, and with all of you, what inspires his openness and love of being naked for all the world to see and enjoy.

'I have loved getting naked ever since I can remember, especially if there are other people around to see it. Not sure where it comes from, as Lady Gaga would say I was "Born This Way." My first nude beach experience was in college when I was eighteen. I went with a friend who was brought up in a family of nudists and who I personally wanted to see naked. It was so freeing and a total blast! The only problem was me trying to keep my erection at bay as my friend was the hot all American blonde type with a really great body. Every time I started to feeling myself getting hard I diverted myself by thinking of other things, don't remember what those things were now, but I only ever got semi-erect and I don't think my friend ever noticed, if he did he pretended not to see...'

'The most off beat experience I have ever had at a nude beach was at Haulover Beach in Miami Florida. One thing that all nude beaches have in common is a gay side and a straight side. No, they are not designated that way with signs, it's simply an unspoken naked in public thing. Me and my buddy decided to take a walk along the shoreline down the beach. When this Male/Female couple says "Hi" to us. She has silicone breasts and is put together like a Barbie Doll and he, well is a built Ken Doll stud with a raging hard-on. We stood there and made small talk with them, while they laid there naked on their towels with their legs spread and his beautiful erection sticking straight up. Neither of them acknowledged the protrusion and it was pretty clear they wanted us to join them, but the two of us just wanted to hang out, literally, at the beach. They were both very hot and it was very flattering.'

'I am lucky to live on the West Coast in Southern, California. We basically have summer all year round, especially this one, while I don't always have time to get to the beach I am naked all the time at my home and when friends drop by, depending on my relationship with them, I stay that way. The companion photos with this piece were taken at a nude beach between San Diego & Los Angeles, CA. San Onofre which is adjacent to a military base by David of Yoga Bear Studio. Sadly, even with the base, I have never seen any hot military men frolicking naked while there... It was an awesome shoot. There was a guy watching it the whole time, while making sure he was out of camera range. While we did do the erection shots in one of the areas not in view of everyone, there was always the possibility that someone could walk in and see us doing the shots, but nobody did, Damn!'

Culminación: Cristian by Mount Photography

Many FH readers will recognize the model, and artist behind it, in the image above. I have been featuring Mount Photography's Mark Montovio's work since 2009, and have done five posts (see the links below) featuring his work with Cristian. The image above is from 2013, and represents how Cristian looked in the previous pieces on the blog. As you can see, Cristian has grown up since their last time shooting and has a more mature, and incredibly sexy new aura about him.

For me, heading to the beach always means one of two things... Either I am looking forward to a fun day with family or friends... or, I go alone, or with my dogs, to walk the shore and think through something I'm struggling with. When it's for fun, usually you go with people you like and are familiar with. With that in mind, I couldn't think of any one's images better to spend part of this beach with, than Mark's new images of Cristian.

This set is actually from the summer of 2014. Mark and I began talking about a feature last summer, but at the time he was on his way to London to introduce Cristian to another photographer who was about to shoot him. Despite a language barrier, Cristian managed extremely well, especially with Mark there for support and to translate.

Cristian's maturity is evident beyond just his facial hair. His body and facial structure is more defined, his eyes more expressive and appears more skilled and experienced with stance and pose. Although Cristian always looked like he was having fun in front of the camera, there was a sweetness, a newness and a sexy hint of shyness that came through. Within these images, the hint of shyness is now confidence, but his great look and immense appeal, remain firmly intact.

Cristian has always enjoyed beach shots, especially in Spain, the setting for this set of images. Sadly, it may be awhile before we see him in shot by Mark in the sand and water again. Cristian is now shooting in the US and focusing on fitness and studio work. After his many years of shooting along the incredible Spanish beaches including along the shores of Gibraltar, Cádiz and Andalusia, heading inside to a studio isn't that appealing to Mark. After enjoying his many shoots in the surf and sand, I don't blame him one bit!

Happy Memorial Day!

There is nothing quite like spending a holiday at the beach.  Playing in the ocean and the sun beating down heating your skin.  You hope the day will last forever.  I sort of felt the same way with my Beach Day theme. I gathered so many pieces, today's Beach inspired posts run over 10 posts on two pages.  Be sure to check out page two for more sun, sand, surf and of course skin!

Getting It Right: Cody by MaleVisionS Photography

I am however, never satisfied. Consequently, I will continue shooting nude men (and wilderness) until I get it right!'

Last week I had the pleasure of featuring Arizona photographer Dan Nelson (MaleVisionS) and his work with the incredible Teak (A Piece Of Art) It was after seeing one of Dan's black and white nudes of Teak that I was inspired to contact him about about a piece on FH. Teak and Dan actually had another shoot scheduled for that week and the resulting images made up of the majority of the images I featured.

Dan says he is always on the hunt to find that one model that the camera just loves. 'The one that when you turn on the modeling lights he's suddenly "on" and you start popping those strobes and the session becomes a dance of creativity as the model instinctively knows what you want and where the first shot you take is incredible and everyone after that is even better!' I am not entirely convinced there is necessarily a one, or one's. In the hands of a skilled artist, the right artist, I think magic can occur even if the model is not quite the one.

I definitely saw that magic in his work with Teak, and I saw it again over and over when spending time with Dan's extensive portfolio. When I was working on the story with Teak, Dan invited me to view more of his work and let him know if there were other models I was interested in featuring. There were, many in fact. But... if you scroll down to the end of this piece, (and you should) there was this black and white image of a model naked on a bed. What made me want to feature Cody, the model in the bed, was not just his great body, but that incredible smile. That smile is pure magic and had me certain that as far as who to choose to feature next, Cody was the one.

One of the reasons I love learning about the shooting process is that added level of enjoyment when viewing an artists images. Unlike Teak, whose body moved elegantly and naturally in front of Dan's lens, with Cody, Dan found himself needing to provide a bit more direction. Dan shot the 19 year old model on two occasions, the first was more of an opportunity for Cody and Dan to get comfortable working together. Although new to modeling, Cody didn't seem to have any issues with getting naked in front of the camera, but for the first shoot, Dan chose not to shoot Cody fully naked and instead focused on form and pose. 'This is not unusual for me as my creative process kind of feeds off of the model and it sometimes doesn't include total nudity and that's okay with me.'

Like any job, some models have a passion and an instinct for the artistic piece. How to move their bodies naturally to help the photographer create memorable images. Dan says that although Cody relaxed and comfortable, Dan worked a bit harder coming up with poses and shots to maximize Cody's obvious assets and that incredible smile. Cody worked hard, putting in great effort to help Dan in getting the shots he wanted and I think the results speak to the fortitude and determination Dan and Cody demonstrated. Dan kept his focus on Cody's incredible body, (that butt!) his beautiful face and lips.  He also wisely kept those beautiful baby blue eyes front and center in practically every shot.

'I would shoot Cody again in a heartbeat and be happy with his effort. I truly believe all of my models are "stars" and I'm proud to have worked with them.'

From Clueless to Jesus: Jeremy Sisto

Moonlight and Valentino (1995)

Earlier this month, I profiled actor Mark Pellegrino (HERE:) from The Returned. On the A & E show, Mark's character Jack is involved in a bit of a messy love triangle with his ex-wife Claire and her current love, Peter Lattimore. Peter is played by a favorite actor of mine, the talented, and oh so delicious Jeremy Sisto.

Clueless (1995)

Although I have seen many of Jeremy's early movies, (although I have yet to ever see Clueless...) I think I first noticed the scraggly haired actor on a 2003 episode of Dawson's Creek. Sisto stands out in any role he takes on with his unique look, that beautiful face and his immense talent as an actor. Not many actors have both Clueless and Jesus on their resume, but Sisto has played both heroes and villains, goof balls and jocks all with respect and finesse.

I really began to take notice of Sisto during my DVD marathon of Six Feet Under a few years back. It was also the first, but thankfully not the last, time we got a good few of that perfectly rounded Sisto tush. Over the past few years, Sisto has focused much of his attention on television with roles on Law & Order (which I don't watch) and Suburgatory. (which I always meant to watch)

I am however enjoying Sisto in The Return, A+E’s adaptation of the French horror series, Les Revenants. A & E has yet to announce whether the Monday night drama will get a season 2, but I would still recommend catching season 1. It was slow at times, and a bit bogged down by a few too many characters, but I quite enjoyed it. Although Sisto's resume is very impressive, he spoke last year to the Huffington Post about being heart broken over losing a certain big screen part to Leonard DiCaprio.

'That was one of the many, many jobs I didn’t get,” he said, laughing. “It’s always fun to see a movie that you know really well and love with this alternate universe person in there. So while I was a little embarrassed to reveal one of my many failures in life, at the same time I couldn’t deprive Titanic lovers of seeing that alternate universe'

Women I Love: Frances McDormand

Last year, actress Frances McDormand was labelled by the press as the grumpy-faced nominee. McDormand earned her crown, but I didn't see her so much as grumpy as I did inpatient. McDormand has been acting, on stage, on television and in film for decades, often to much acclaim. Yet, after those all those years, all those films and television roles, being something we are all supposed to strive to, being ourselves and being unique, is still not really embraced by Hollywood.

I give Meryl and Glenn and all the others who smile through award show after award show and red carpet after red carpet credit, but I were were walking the red carpet, especially after going on thirty plus years (with an Academy Award to boot...) I would be fairly grumpy too.

My favorite McDormand roles are of course Fargo, and Laurel Canyon. This year, I can add Olive Kitteridge to that list. If you haven't check out the HBO drama, I suggest you do. At four hours long, the first hour requires some, well patience, to get through. That first hour however, really lays the groundwork for the hours to follow. I especially loved the second part, Incoming Tide which involves some great scenes surrounding the wedding of Christopher (John Gallagher Jr.) as well as the return of Kevin (Cory Michael Smith).

Last week, during Canne's Women In Motion series, McDormand was interviewed by The Hollywood reporter. Various quotes have popped up on-line, but if you love McDormand, I suggested watching the entire interview on YouTube HERE: McDormand beautifully trashes the things that frustrate her about Hollywood while at the same time respecting the business she and her husband (Joel Coen) are a part of. It is fun to watch how skilfully she both praises and blasts the industry at the same time.

Cory Michael Smith in Olive Kitteridge

And given this is FH..... we need a hunky connection. Although I didn't stick with Gotham, I love me some Cory Michael Smith. Smith puts in a beautiful and haunting performance as Kevin in the mini-series second instalment. I only wish (which is what all characters should strive for) that we got to see more.

Wish Book: Skyler by Studio James

$

It was back in 2011 that I was first introduced to the work of Robert (Studio) James. In my first piece featuring Robert's work, (Home Alone) I was struck by the connection I felt to the Wisconsin photographer's theme of being home alone. Within Robert's images, being alone isn't a bad thing, it's an opportunity.

I have a fairly stressful job, supporting others as they work their way through a time of fear and pain. I love spending time with my friends and family, but I also crave at least a day or two a month to have all to myself. With work taking the bulk of my week and family obligations often dominating my weekends, it is rare to have a full day, let alone a full weekend to do exactly as I please.

Being surrounded by people all day has me craving moments of solitude. I distinctly remember the first few evenings when I first moved out into my own apartment. It was the mid nineties and although computers had been around for awhile, I didn't own my own at that point. A great evening was a pizza, a good VHS choice from Blockbuster, followed by a good book before bed. Before the Internet, books were often the way many of us moved from reality to fantasy. A good book could provide erotic stimulation from a few well constructed sentences. With visuals not readily at hand, one's imagination was the best and only vehicle for getting (off) on-line.

Robert's images of Skyler are not of a man alone, they are of a man enjoying spending time with himself. Surrounded by others at a wedding all day, there is nothing more fantastic to Skyler than getting home, pouring a drink and removing the tuxedo which had constrained him most of the day. He had been looking forward to this moment most of the afternoon and as he gave his toast at the reception, dreamt about getting home and pealing off that tux.

When down to his grey undies, Skyler pics up the novel he had started a few days ago. He is three quarters through the book and the off/on relationship of the novels main characters are finally on with a descriptive three pages of their erotic coming together. Time to put the book down, it has served it's purpose of getting the juices flowing.

Robert is a master storyteller, visually unveiling the story through his images. Robert gives you just enough to get an idea of what the model is feeling, but leaves room for the viewer to use their own fantasy's to fill in the blanks. This was Robert's second shoot with Skyler. Robert had just moved into a new house in the country when Skyler called asking about another shoot. Given he had a brand new home, there were many new locations he wanted to try out.

Robert says that most of his shoots last about 4 or 5 hours, but with all the new locations he wanted to work in, they decided to spend the entire day and do a variety of sets each in a different location. There were two sets of images that stood out to me, this one and another which I am going to share in a couple of days. Although this set of images comes from shooting inside Robert's new home, they also spent a fair bit of time shooting outside.

'Two of the outdoor locations were within 10-15 feet of a county highway. The road is not heavily travelled but approximately every 5 minutes a car would come along and Skyler, having no clothes on, would have to scamper over to some brush and hide behind it till the car passed. We made the day without getting caught. We spent a good twelve hours shooting, moving to the next location and shooting some more. We were both exhausted by the end of the day but Skyler was a trooper and was 100% into each setting.'

Reek...

It was with great interest that I read the outrage over the rape of Sansa Stark on a recent episode of Game Of Thrones. In the episodes final scene, Sansa (Sophie Turner) is sexually assaulted on her wedding night by husband Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) as Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), is forced by Ramsay to stand and watch. Don't get me wrong, the rape was ugly and difficult to watch. As a viewer I was always rooting for Sansa to escape the masculine evil that always seems to surround her. My fascination however is with all of those who all of a sudden found this scene so out of bounds?

Yes, I have read that in George R.R. Martin's books, it was not Sansa who was raped, but a girl posing as Arya Stark who married Ramsay. But someone was raped. Anyone who reads FH on any type of regular basis knows how much I adore cruelty. Physical cruelty, mental and emotional cruelty, sexual or power based cruelty especially. FH is in fact my response to various other blogs and sites whose purpose is only to mock and bring down others. Although I have made the odd swipe at a celebrity or media hypocrisy, I try to keep the blog as positive as possible.

But... Game Of Thrones is rooted in cruelty. Passion and power yes, but much of the power the characters gain come through incredibly violent and cruel acts. I don't understand why this surprises anyone. I love the show, but have had to divert my eyes many times during overtly violent and cruel scenes have graced my television screen. Both men and women have been raped, mutilated, decapitated and bludgeoned in every possible way since the show began. Forgive the term, but the writers have clearly been toying with Sansa as 'rape bait' since season 1. The term is ugly I know, but all through the shows first couple of season, Sansa's virginity was played up and she was always on the verge of being assualted or raped when engaged to Joffery. In fact, Joffery played out his violent fantasy's about Sansa in some particularly violent acts on prostitutes. Then there is Petyr Littlefinger, whose lecherous looks always had me thinking he was the big bad wolf to Sansa's red riding hood.

I did not enjoy the scene of Sansa being raped, but I was also not surprised, the show pretty laid out this was Sansa's fate early in the shows run. It was especially hard to have Theon there given he and Sansa were raised together. But many seem not to be as outraged by how horrible the rape must have also been for Theon. No character on GOT has been through more violence, torture, and sexual humiliation and degradation than Theon (nicknamed Reek by Ramsay). All of this cruelty, not to mention his castration was also at the hands of Sansa's rapist Ramsay.

I am wondering why all of those people calling for a boycott, (including you Sen. Claire McCaskill) were not outraged about all of the acts of violence and sexual sadism Theon has gone through? Was it because Theon was written as a bit of a letch himself in season 1? I trust not, we have all been educated not to blame the victim. I am not sure the response to Sansa's rape says as much about our feelings towards the violence against women, as it does about our acceptance with the epidemic in film and television of violence against men.

Corpus evanescente: Matt by AANE Photography

Since discovering Mike, (AANE Photography) and the arousing assortment of men he has captured, we were fortunate to be able to join the Pennsylvania photographer on two of his many excursions. The first, a trip to St. Louis with his incredibly hot work with  B-Rad.  This was followed up by a Jaunt to Johannesburg with his images of  beautiful South African model Kyros.  Mike's next journey, although a little bit closer to home, was not without it's own adventures.

Mike had put out a casting call for underwear models and one of the models to answer his call was Matt. At over 6 feet tall, Matt's tall lean body, blonde hair and great face and mouth, made him the perfect model for the shoot. Sometimes some of the best results come from unexpected problems and stumbling blocks. For Mike's first shoot with Matt, that proved to be the case. Car issues almost ended the shoot before it began, but eventually, Matt got to Mike's studio, stripped down to a variety of various colored briefs and boxers and, as you can see by these images, the sexy results that followed.

Once down to his undies, Matt got more comfortable as they shoot progressed. Matt was curious about the process for having some implied and nudes taken, so near the end of the first shoot, Mike agreed. So off came the skivvies for the next part of the shoot. Once the images were edited and sent back to Matt, he intimately posted them on his social media pages, but then quickly took them down. Although the shots posted were not full nudes, Mike thought perhaps Matt was having second thoughts, or was worried about his friends or family seeing the images. The proved not to be the case.

In fact, a week or so later Matt called asking about doing another shoot, this time wanting to take things even further. The experience of his first time modeling nude, along with the response, not to mention the reparation... inspired the gym instructor to want to get back in front of Mike's camera. Plans were made, a date was set but again, sadly an obstacle again arose. This one Matt couldn't control and the shoot had to be put on hold. Given the great results of the first shoot, hopefully the planned second will occur when Matt is available.

Obstacles aside, one of the positive results of that first shoot were hundreds of great images of Matt. For his part, Mike says Matt was one of the best models he had shot in awhile, curious, creative and a natural in front of the camera. Being one of the best meant Mike chose to include Matt in his latest venture, mɛn. mɛn is the new compilation book Mike has lovingly put together featuring the hottest shots of six of his favorite models. Three of the models are exclusive, never before having appeared in print. All six, including Matt and B-Rad, from my first piece on Mike's work, appear full frontal in more intimate images than they appeared on FH.

At close to 90 pages, mɛn brings together the raw and incredibly erotic imagery from AANE Photography along with the photo retouching work provided by THOM Graphophoton.  You can buy the book in soft of hard cover, or buy the low priced pdf downloadable edition!  You can preview mɛn on blurb HERE: Raw may be used sometimes to refer to something 'unfinished,' but for Mike and THOM Graphophoton, raw is definitely used with intention and it's visually erotic effect.

'At THOM Graphophoton, in conjunction with AANE Photography, we revisit the era when photographs did not just mean clarity for it could also be hazy. Not always centered, for asymmetry may mean novelty. And sometimes, the imperfection is what is perfect. Photography is first and foremost, an art form.'

In 2014 Mike began photographing men. To remind himself what strippers tell men, "puede mirar no puede tocar," he named his photography studio AANE Photography. AANE comes from "Ang Asawa Ni Edeng," which is Tagalog for "the husband of Edeng," Fred's childhood nickname. Mike has been married to his husband Fred since 1997. Fred loves to tell others the wedding was a little Sex In The City as like Carrie and Big, it was a lavish and elegant Manhattan event. If you haven't gathered, the partnership is both personal and professional with Fred being the man behind THOM Graphophoton, THOM coming from The Husband OMike.

-Behind The Scenes-

Keeping with my Behind The Scenes theme, I love when pets enter into shots. Having owned many cats and dogs, I know one of their goals is always to remain the center of attention! That is why why, cats especially, love to dance on key boards, require extra affection when your busy or on the phone, and slide nonchalantly into shot, interacting with that pesky model who annoyingly seems to be getting the lions share of their owners attention at the moment...
