William Hurt: Full Circle
I always had a bit of a negative thing with William Hurt. Might have been some of Marlee Matlin's talk show stories about their relationship. Might have been some of the unpleasant characters he has played. I think the first time I actually saw Hurt on film was as the unlikable husband of Meryl Streep in One True Thing. (1998) Over the last few months however I have had the opportunity to watch some of Hurt's work and his talent, and sex appeal is undeniable.
Humans
I am loving AMC's Humans. It was while watching that I realized his character Dr. George Millican is almost full circle from his role as Prof Hobby in 2001's A.I. Both are responsible for the creation of a robot that can not only think, but feel. A.I is one of my favorite of Spielberg's films because of the way it makes me feel. The plot, especially the dragged out middle, make the film long and hard to get through but Haley Joel Osment is powerfully effective as David and some of the scenes are some of Spielberg's most heartbreaking.
Hurt with Haley Joel Osment in Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Thanks mostly to TCM, since January I have seen Hurt in Altered States, Broadcast News and The Big Chill. I also found copies of Body Heat and re-watched Children Of A Lesser God. Body Heat gets a lot of press for it's sex scenes, watching it recently had me thinking it was a bit dated and tame. Hurt was incredibly sexy though and Body Heat is one of several films he in which he had nude scenes, including a few 'blink and you miss it' frontals.

the Visit: Luc Francois by ClareVoyance Photography
The first time I featured the work of photographer Scott Clare from ClareVoyance Photography was back in the fall of 2013. In that story based series of images we joined Adam for a Sunday Morning At Home. In this series, The Visit, Scott brings us another story driven shoot, this time, with the incredibly sensual Luc Francois.
Many photographers use their camera as an active participant. The camera acts as a vehicle for the model to connect directly with the person behind it, and of course the viewer. Other photographers use their camera as a silent participant, equally important but with an entirely different purpose. With Scott's work with Luc, and in the previous set with Adam, Scott and his camera are hidden participants, voyeuristic chroniclers of story and emotions unfolding in front of them.
Scott left the story of Luc's visit, and his possible visitor, tantalizing unfinished. Luc is clearly waiting for someone, but is it someone he knows, or someone he hopes to know better. Does the visitor show up? Does the evening end in a climatic encounter with another, or a self propelled climatic ending and transition into sleep. Scott purposely kept his story open ended, so the viewer can decidee Luc's fate for themselves. Maybe the night took a different, more sinister turn, or maybe... it was all in his mind.
It was also interesting to me that Scott send on these images while in the process of a visit himself. Not only was Scott packing and getting ready to move from Australia to The Cayman Islands, he was also getting ready for a visit to Canada for the Christmas holidays. For many of us, visits and moves often unveil baggage, both physical and emotional that have been hidden or buried. We see people we haven't seen in awhile, we go places we're not as comfortable with all surrounded by new and unfamiliar people, smells, sights and sounds.
It was during Scott's move that he uncovered this older shoot he had done with Luc, a model he describes as a true pleasure to work with. When we are going through our lives and belongings when we pack, we often find treasures from our past. Sometimes we decide it's time to let go, and throw them out. Other times, like this shoot with Luc, we decide they need another visit. Although I love that Scott left the story partially untold, I think he left us a few beautiful and erotic visual clues as to the night's eventual outcome.

Captured Regrets....
Given how plumplicious John Stamos looked in his recent Papermag shoot with Brian Bowen Smith, I doubt there will be any regrets. Not sure I can say the same about this 80's image. Not that I judge... I am sure many of us struct that glamour girl arm behind the head pose at one time or another, but I can't say I ever owned a satin baby blue baseball jacket.

SimonModel: While I'm Young!
Simon by Graham Rebbeck
Simon by Ken Pryor
Photographers often have a lot of stops and starts in order to complete set-ups and lighting changes. This can provide a model short breaks to stretch and relax. This isn't always the case when posing for a drawing or sculpture. When sitting for an artist or sculptor patience is a requirement. Models must remain still for long periods of time. One of the pluses however, is that there is plenty of time to think and to get to know the other person in the room. When 25 year old Melbourne model Simon was sitting for artist William Eicholtz, one of the many topics that came up was FH.
Simon by Gazi Photography
I have been honored to have been able to feature William's work several times in the past, and with Simon looking to get his name, not to mention his hot body, out there, William suggested FH might be a good place to showcase not just his look, but his personality. Simon does have a great body and face with beautifully expressive brown eyes. Clearly many photographers have taken note of Simon's appeal including ANNE Photography and macpics, two favorites that I love to feature on FH. Simon loves the creative expression that modeling provides, as well as the enjoyment he gets from a little exhibitionism. The images beautifully show Simon's look and bare his beautiful body, Simon's words and thoughts bare a little of what's beneath.
Simon by Andrew Keshan
What led you to begin modeling?
'I wanted to model for a few years before I started, as I guess I had a bit of vanity and always wanted to be that 'sexy' or 'hot' guy on billboards/magazines. I always found photo shoots and runway very artistic and a way to show how amazing and beautiful the human body can be. I wanted people to admire my body but not just looks, but how I can portray certain expressions or pull off looks I like working out and looking good, I want to get into the best shape of my life and believe I have decent looks and why not show off my body in its best form?! I like creating photos that tell a story, and believe modelling is artistic and shows different facets of my personality.
What have been your best, and oddest experience thus far?
'I really enjoyed modelling at my first runway show as part of my male modelling course. I loved the rush of the show, so many people were in attendance, it was my first professional modelling experience really with an audience. I liked walking on the stage, meeting the other models. It was just fun! And made me want to do more of it. As far as odd experiences, a photographer once asked if he could take his top off too, when I had my top off for the shoot. I found this strange and unnecessary to be honest.'
What factors did you weigh before deciding to shoot full nudes?
'How my friends would react?! Would my image be circulated on social media and the Internet? I was worried would it damage my modeling career and I would be looked at like I was doing porn! Now I don't really care about nudity haha. I like it and love underwear shoots! I would even like to try porn, especially while I'm young, YOLO haha.'
Simon by AANE Photography
'AANE Photography's Mike was very personable and relaxed and we got along really well. This is very important to ensure a successful photo shoot, there needs to be a bond and trust between the photographer and the model. Mike got some really great shots of me and was not afraid to do some adventurous and interesting shots, including using a bush and log to cover my dick! Mike was also great at promoting our images on Instagram which was great.'
What part of your body are you most happy with?
'Ohh hard one! Not too sound cocky but I think I have great legs, particularly calves and quads. I work hard at the gym, trying to get leaner and fitter every day! I go to gym like 6 days a week haha, and do legs twice. Focusing on strength but also do squats and lunges and rapid movements to give me some ability.'
What part gets the most attention from others?
'I have a decent sized dick and firm bubble butt which gets lots of attention.... I am working on developing my abs and getting more muscular arms,......I have a six pack coming through slowly.......watch this space! I am kind of skinny now, but lean.'
Simon by William Eicholtz
'William is very passionate. creative and inspiring in his approach to his work. I feel he is a perfectionist, in a good way. Wanting to get the best of the model and the shot and make it a true story. He provided me with great advice on how to contour the body in shoots and general tips in the industry!'
Simon by macpics
Dream Scenario for a Shoot:
'In New York/LA, doing a commercial shoot like something fun maybe sneakers or cool underwear like Pump or Calvin Klein, BCNU probably like a brooding shot in underwear and trainers on a basketball court or at the gym. Something sexy, when my body is at my peak showing true athleticism and style.'

Sage Northcutt: Weighing In
I am sure many of you have already been introduced to mixed martial artist Sage Northcutt, but if you haven't, I'll give you a few minutes to get acquainted. There are many hot men in the UFC, but few have garnered the attention that 19 year old Sage has.
It's isn't just his model look good looks, at just 19, he is a beast in the cage with a long list of wins to his credit. Sage is also focused on his life outside of fighting and is currently studying petroleum engineering at Texas A&M University.
I admit I don't watch much (any) UFC, but I have caught a few weigh ins, one of the best parts of any event...

Sensual Subtleties: Noah Scott by Gordon Nebeker
'You will note a great change in Noah's appearance from the first shoot to the second. For me, it was kind of fun as it was like working with two different models and, while I thought I liked the clean shaven Noah the best, his beard and lighter hair color has grown on me and that is what I would pick now if given the choice. Ah youth!! A great time in life to try out different looks and personalities!'
In a story earlier in the month, (Modulate) I wrote about 'change' being a core theme on FH for 2016. Whether intended or not, change seems to come up for me in many pieces that I write for the blog and whether intended it or not, I have come to understand it is mirroring the changes going on in my personal life. I would disagree only slightly with Gordon's comments about change as I think changing one's look, appearance and life might be easier when young, it is often more powerful when you're a bit older. At least I hope....
The interesting thing to me about the changes in Noah appearance is that they all occurred within a month. The clean shaven, darker haired Noah was shot in mid-October of last fall, the blonder version with the beard was just 30 days later in mid-November. I love both looks, for different reasons and went back and forth on how best to present them. Feature shoot 1, then do a follow-up featuring shoot 2 or blend the images, and looks together. Ultimately I think the contrast of weaving images from both shoots together, visually comparing the sensual subtleties of each of Noah's looks, was most stimulating to me.
Despite the slight changes with his appearance, there are some clearly things that stand out visually in both of the 20 year old college students shoots with Gordon. At 6’1”, Noah's long lean form is breathtaking as captured by Gordon, whether beautifully posed with dark hair on the window bench, or with blonde hair, sensually draped atop the coffee table. Noah could also never hide those beautifully expressive and gentle hazel eyes, despite any physical changes around them.
'I usually like to ease into a shoot taking some time to first shoot a model clothed before beginning the nude work. As I was answering his knock at the door for his second shoot, I noticed a lovely light and shadow pattern on the dining room floor which wouldn’t last long so he no sooner walked in the door than I had him nude on the floor while I quickly took some photos before the light and shadows disappeared. No complaints, just ‘what do we need to do to get the shot’. He is always very appreciative of any and every opportunity he is given.'
Gordon originally found Noah on Model Mayhem and was happy to learn that lived in Boston, close (about 15 minutes away) from where Gordon lives most of the year. 'Always nice to have a model in the neighborhood!' Gordon always appreciates working with a really good model, but says that it is extra special when that model turns out to be a great person as well. Gordon describes Noah as one of the easiest models he has every worked with and shares they are hoping together again in the spring for some underwater work when the pool is open.
'Usually at some point during a shoot, I will ask the model if there is some talent or skill they have that they haven’t shared with me as yet or a pose they would like to try. We were shooting some classic nude poses when I asked Noah that question and without a word he pushed himself up on his arms and his legs shot straight up in the air. In all my years of photography, I have never taken a photo of that pose before and I love how it turned out!'
Despite his ease and elegance in front of the lens, Noah has only been modeling for about a year. It was friends who pushed him into giving it a shot and it was those friends, wanting to practice something with their camera's, that provided Noah with his first modeling experiences. Noah never really saw himself modeling professionally until coming a across an ad looking for models on Craiglist. Not expecting much, he applied and before he knew it, Noah was getting jobs modeling for photographers in the Boston area.
'I like modeling because it gives me a huge confidence boost, when I walk in front of a camera it feels like I'm the best looking guy in the world. I like seeing wonderful pictures of me and I love meeting new people and learning new things about the industry. I'm a people person, so I like to be outgoing and connect with as much people as I possibly can.'
'When I started nude modeling, I was kind of nervous. I had these thoughts of "what if the photographer doesn't like my body" or "what if my shots turn out awful." I went to the gym pretty much everyday, doing everything I could to make sure I was confident enough to do my shoot. As soon as I got to my first nude shoot ever, all those doubts went away instantly. Nude modeling feels so casual to me now. I love doing it, and I love my image more and more as I do it.'
'Gordon made me feel so comfortable at the shoot and he's so creative in his work. It's an honor to be able to work with him, his shoots always turn out so great, I'm not sure he's ever sent me a photo he's produced that I didn't love. He's taught me a lot about modeling and the business. He's taught me many new poses and has taught me so much about the industry that I had no idea existed. Nude modeling has been so fun, and working with Gordon has made the world of difference. I never thought that I'd like it as much as I do now.I hope to one day do bigger things with it and be in events like New York Fashion Week or something along those lines.'

Aaron Tveit: Out of Oz
I fell in love with actor Aaron Tveit after first hearing him sing, long before I actually saw how gorgeous he was. I think I first actually saw him on the Tony's the year he performed with the cast of Next To Normal. This week, we can see and hear him on FOX's Grease Live but before that, I recommend getting re-Tveited by checking out his version of Popular from the Out of Oz
Out of Oz is a great new series of studio session featuring the music from Wicked. Many of you remember Aaron's turn as Fiyero in the Broadway hit. I could listen, and watch, Aaron's version of Popular for hours. Aaron is also featured on the series version of Defying Gravity along with Rachel Tucker. Après-Ski: Zach by LIghts On Studio
'Skiing is a dance, and the mountain always leads.'
Although last week's blizzard is in the rear view mirror, the snow left behind is still visible everywhere you look. I am sure this is great news for skiers, as well as all of those who make their living from the sport. Although there are many things about snow to grumble about, the endless white beauty that blankets the mountains and fields that surround where I live, is definitely worthy of celebration.
When looking for images to salute the often grumbled about form of precipitation, I knew exactly where to go. Last month, I celebrated Christmas by featuring Michigan photographer Tom Nakielski from Lights On Studio and his holiday themed images of Hansel Wellington. (Cocks & Candy Canes) I remembered an image in Tom's port of an incredibly sexy mode holding his ski's wearing and nothing but his navy tuque.
The model in Tom's image was Zach, and he had the perfect look, gorgeous face and beautiful eyes, clean cut and the body and look of an athlete. Zach also had the look of someone who enjoys life off the slopes as well as on. Après-Ski refers to what happens off the hill at ski resorts. The night life, the partying and drinking and of course, the sex. Given Zach's fashion was limited to that hat and a scarf, one could assume there might be more than just a mountain he might be looking to climb and conquer.
Tom connected with Zach via Model Mayhem and they have worked together several times now. Tom shares that Zach keeps busy with a full time job, school and working out to keep his body ready for whenever the opportunity to ski might arise. They got together for this shoot just prior to a trip Zach was taking to Germany. The winter theme seemed a great idea before Zach's trip which was going to include a days on the slopes.
'Zach is an easy going person and made the session a breeze and pleasant. Says Zach: " Man muss die Dinge neh men,wie sie Kommen ""You have to take things as they come.".... I have had several sessions with him and although he is relatively new at modeling he worked like a pro.'
In addition to those beautiful eyes and his incredible body, Zach has a great grin. There is something very unassuming and natural about Zach and the images Tom captured, that adds to his his appeal. Tom is hoping to get him into the studio again soon and Zach is on board, this time maybe bringing a beautiful ski bunny to join him for the shoot. Tom may have to hurry however as after spending several months in Germany, he is thinking of moving back. Hopefully Tom will be able to schedule another shoot before that occurs.

Slow Burn: Ike Barinholtz
I usually love anything/everything Tina Fey and Amy Poehler related, but I didn't really love Sisters. The movie seemed a bit lazy to me, like the rushed it together skipping some important steps with the writing. Although there were certainly laughs, and some good laughs, there were far from enough of them. One of the things I did enjoy about the film however, was it's having me look a little differently at actor Ike Barinholtz.
With Chris Messina, and the other hotties on The Mindy Project, it is little hard to stand out. I have always thought Ike was adorable, and incredibly funny and many of you may have noticed (especially if you look closely at his characters stomach tattoo) that there has been quite a bit less of Ike to love the last season or so on Mindy. Sisters, although week on story, managed to cement Ike's official entry into 'hunk' status.
Below: Barinholtz & Messina

In Sisters, Ike is not just Poehler's leading man, he is the films leading man and he certainly looks the part. In addition most of Maya Rudolph's scenes, some of the finest bits come from Ike. His bedroom scene with Poehler got the biggest laughs with the audience I watched the film with. If only the film had shot more scenes with Ike, and less with Bobby Moynihan, (an actor I like on SNL, but found incredibly annoying in his flick)
