Erotic Authenticity: DirtRoad by Noplacia

' I could tell with our first handshake that Warren was a down-to-earth, sincere person. I remember he kind of chuckling the first time I asked him to flex because that probably felt a little forced for him.'

The term Erotic Authenticity has different meanings for different people. Generally however, it is used to describe someone who not only feels at home with who they are and with their body, but someone intimately connected to their sexual self. When this connection is strong, their ability to express and share their sexual and erotic being, including in photographs, is powerful and real.

This is something photographer Gary Larson saw and felt from his very first meeting with model Warren Russell. Gary has generously shared many of his shoots with Warren, (see more HERE:) but since FH has 'firsts' as it's theme for 2017, I was thrilled Gary sent on images from their very first time shooting together.

'I met Warren shortly after I moved to the Seattle area. He replied to an ad I posted looking for models willing to pose for my art. It was clear during our first shoot that he wasn't like other people I had worked with. Warren does everything in his own way. He dresses in his own style, keeps his hair at a length that looks best on him rather than what current styles dictate.'

If you checked out my last piece featuring Warren taking a stroll in a snow covered forest, (HERE:) you know he is currently sporting a beard and his hair is a bit longer. Although I love Warren's scruffy look, he looks quite dapper, and quite sexy, slipping off his jeans sans the beard and with shorter hair below his tweed driving hat. Even in these images from his first shoot with Gary, Warren appears confident with strong sexual self-esteem.

If any of you have checked out Warren's tumblr (HERE:) you would see some of Gary's drawings of Warren mixed in with he many stunning photographs. Gary's primary purpose for his photos shoots is actually to get source material and inspiration for his drawings. Given how many times they have worked together, and the many visual themes they have explored, Warren has been a frequent source and model for Gary's art. Many of Gary's drawings will be featured next month in an exhibition entitled Aaronic Configuration at the God Hates Robots gallery in Salt Lake City Utah.

'Warren's philosophy about embracing nudity also applies to how he interacts with other people. He is very genuine--not hiding behind fake layers.  As was the case with all of our shoots, he communicated more with body language than with words. He always portrayed a very confident being who had figured a lot of things out in life, but still was looking for new experiences. And never once in any of our shoots did he convey any shyness.'

A Roberts Rear Return

Like other visually stunning astronomical events, every 4-6 years, Canadian actor Shawn Roberts gives us a brilliant full moon. I took out my FH telescope to catch Roberts rear, helpless and tied to a bed in 2004's Going the Distance. (Canadian Back Bacon) I had it ready and waiting when Roberts gave a lengthy flash in the woods in 2009's Black Rain. (Repeat Offender)

Ever since finding out Roberts rear made another appearance in 2015's 40 Below and Falling, I have been waiting for the perfect night to get the best view. The night is come. In 40 below, the story is a known one. Boy meets girl, boy and girl end up stranded, freezing out in the snow. Boy suggests to girl the best way to stay warm in the cold is to remove all of their clothing.

Image below from DaMan

I am hoping with all the talk of immigrants and trade, Roberts, and his incredible rear, (and beautiful hairy chest) will be able to make another appearance, hopefully before another 4 years passes. Roberts is more beef than dairy, so hopefully his next showing will go nice and smoothly.

The exquisitely beautiful Fraser Barke has made a name for himself internationally, modeling for some of the world's top selling brands. The Canadian model keeps in shape as soul cycle instructor, working his body into a sweat several times a day to keep in top shape for both fashion, and skin baring fitness. Fraser also isn't shy about sharing a bit of skin with the many selfies (often while brushing his teeth) on his Instagram.

Visual Variation: ReVisiting Tim by Mike Tossy

'When you get a hot redheaded guy who is willing to take off his clothes in front of the camera... you grab the opportunity!'

Most FH readers are aware of my love of gingers. I have featured many redheaded models and actors over the years and written in several pieces about why I am so drawn to ginger men. For starters there's simply visual variation. If you were an artist, only able to paint with hues of brown and black, having the odd tube of vibrant red added to your palette would be an incredibly welcomed gift.

In addition to the burst of color gingers add to visuals, they also add visual complexities with their skin tone and freckles. Being so rare, gingers are memorable, leaving a stronger impact on those around them. If you asked me to do a list of the blondes, brown or black haired models I have featured, I could name a few favorites, but would become overwhelmed with the countless choices. If you asked me to name the gingers I have featured, I could most likely list almost all of them without much effort.

One of the most memorable gingers that I have featured is undoubtedly Tim. Tim's first appearance on FH was back in 2010. (Seeing Red) I feel in love with Tim's images for many reasons including his ability to surprise. Tim had a great face, beautiful eyes and regardless of whether long or short, a great head of red hair. When dressed, Tim could appear clean cut, the boy next door. He looked a bit like the straight laced good student who sat next to you in geometry class. When Tim's clothes were off hwever, I felt an entirely different energy.

Tim seemed so open and free when naked, uninhibited and incredibly sexual. Under those clothes was a lean sexy body that seemed to move quicker and with more ease without the restrictions of clothing covering his skin. With Tim's support, I went on to feature more of his work, in and out of his clothes. First, later in 2010 in a series of shots from Desi from Zedneram Imagery. (HERE:) Then, in 2011, showcasing his work with one of my favorite photographers to feature, Mike Tossy.

I first featured Mike's work in 2009, but it was his work with Tim that had me asking about devoting a post to their work together. Mike's images captured everything I loved so much about Tim's work, including his athleticism and artistry. It was not surprising to learn Tim had also starting shooting his own images after seeing the beauty and flow Mike captured in their short time together.

Mike's shots of Tim, especially those of him scaling up the brick wall have become some of my all time favorite shots to feature. I have mentioned in previous pieces that Mike has an instinctive ability to encapsulate both personality and form within his images. Something some artists struggle to achieve, Mike is able to weave together with elegance and ease. The sexy shot above blends a hint of mystery while also creatively capturing Tim's beautiful body as well as a tiny peak at the soul behind Tim's captivating blue eyes.

When I checked in with Mike about revisiting his work with Tim he was fully supportive. A fellow ginger fan, Mike sent on a selection what he considered to be some of his best shots from their time together. I loved the shots, but had used many of them in the first the first piece. Mike kindly took the time to go back into his archives, and edited some shots that did not initially make his top tier to provide some new images for me to include. The images in this piece weave some of my favorites from both sets. Mike also answered a few of my questions about how his shoot with Tim all came together.

How did you first meet/see Tim and what had you wanting to connect for a shoot?

'As I recall we met through ModelMayem.com. Tim had done some modeling and he looked promising. Desi had made contact initially.'

Tim photographs as very open and physically flexible. Did you have a shot list prior to shooting, or did some of the locations and acrobatic occur spontaneously?

'I never work from a shot list. The process of photography for me is very much an exploration. Part of why Tim's shoot was successful was that he was willing to be part of the exploration.'

I know Desi was present, and Mark popped in during the shoot as well. How did this come together?

'Desi had made contact initially. We all agreed to a split of expenses and Tim's time between the photographers. Tim was living a fair distance away and it was less travel time for him. I was working on a series of photographing the photographer and model in action, so in the morning I primarily photographed Desi shooting Tim. Then in the afternoon I shot Tim myself. Marco briefly popped in that afternoon. Hard to believe all those images were from one very long day. Tim was a real trooper!'

From a photographers prospective, what draws you to gingers?

'Partially, they are very rare. Redheads are rare. Nude male models are rare. So when you get a hot redheaded guy who is willing to take off his clothes in front of the camera... you grab the opportunity! Tim was more than some hot ginger model, he was a very talented model -- full of energy and enthusiasm.'

Kevin Bernhardt in Le Feu sous la peau

$

Last year, one of my favorite actor pieces focused on actor Kevin Bernhardt and his role in 1993's Treacherous. (Rare Rear Frontal) I thought Kevin's nude scene was incredibly hot, and fairly unique given his 'frontal' was seen through his legs from the rear.

When I was doing Kevin's birthday post earlier this month, I linked back that piece and reread a comment from a FH reader. The poster asked about the film Fire Under The Skin, a flick I had not seen, until last week. The 1985 flick was Kevin's first film, but it was difficult to find out much about. Fortunately, searching under it's French and Italian translation took me to a few more images and info about the film.

The French DVD left the T off the end of Kevin's name.

Kevin's character Raphael is certainly busy in the soft core flick. While visiting a friend in America, he seduces pretty much an entire family. Although most were women, Raphael found time to give daddy a little time and attention as well. In the most memorable scene, Dad has Raphael try one a few pairs of his large collection of underwear and speedos, getting a good rear view from the bedroom mirror.

Blast from the Past: John Stockwell

John with Christine co-stars Keith Gordon and Alexandra Paul

It's always interesting to me what makes an actor stand out. I have seen John Stockwell in many films over the years. He took two turns co-starring with Tom Cruise, in the 80's hits Losin It, and Top Gun. I also have childhood memories of watching him in North & South and Billionaire Boys Club. It wasn't til last week however, on a night when sleep escaped me, I turned on the television and caught John in 1983's Christine.

Stephen King is one of my favorite authors, but I don't often enjoy the movie adaptations of his novels. Because of the scope, most play better on television, where the longer multi-part format can fit in more of the character and story. (think IT) I read and enjoyed the novel Christine, back when I was taking 3 buses each day to get to University. I never had much interest however, in checking out the old 80's version of the flick.

John shot by Andy Warhol

Despite it being the middle of the night, I stayed up to finish it. Keith Gordon was great as Arnie and John was incredibly sexy as Arnie's friend Dennis. I loved the 80's feel, and the way film built tension through Christine's, the Plymouth Fury, hold over Arnie. The next evening I began to look for a bit more info on John and his work.

Partying with Bianca Jagger

I was surprised to learn that the actor began as a successful male model, living in Italy and working mostly internationally. During his time as a model, John was credited as John Samuels became a friend of Andy Warhol. Stockwell was mentioned frequently in the artist's memoirs, The Warhol Diaries, including his brief 80's relationship with Bianca Jagger. John started acting in the early 80's, his first film being the 1981 flick So Fine starring Ryan O'Neal.

John with Calvin Klein, Andy Warhol, and Tom Styron at the Calvin Klein Party for Elton John

In the late 80's John began screen writing, eventually moving on to producing and directing. Although John continued to act periodically, by the 2000's he was mostly working behind the scenes. Some of the big screen films John directed include; Into The Blue, Killer in the Family, Blue Crush and Crazy/Beautiful. John also directed several episodes of The L Word. John's next project is directing Wesley Snipes and Anne Heche in Armed Response out later this year.

Christine (1983)

With Patrick Swayze in North & South (1985)

With Top Gun co-star Anthony Edwards at a pro-peace rally (1987)

Directing Paul Walker and Jessica Alba in Into The Blue (2005)

Dangerously Close (1986)

I believe John's only nude scene was a brief (and steamy...literally) butt scene in the shower from 1986's Dangerously Close. John has a great body, and given he wrote the script, must have been ok with showing it off a bit. Too bad the director choose to obscure it for so much of the scene.

Richard Rothstein: Overlooking

Richard Rothstein:
Beyond Heteronormative (Part II)

'My goal is to create fine art photography that unabashedly expresses queer beauty, sexuality and fantasy; that shatters the limits and definitions imposed on us by the so-called heteronormative. And I'm realizing this can't be done in a studio. It has to be OUT in a world that we own, not "borrow" from the straight world.'

Earlier this month I featured part 1 of Richard Rothstein'sBeyond Heteronormative themed trilogy. In the first chapter, Richard shared his experience of working with Tyler and the complexities of capturing the naked male form explored during the process of the shoot. I loved reading Richard's account of shooting Tyler state of tumescence, and how narrow and negative the presentation has often been.

In the first chapter, Richard and Tyler shot from midnight to daybreak in New York's East Village. In the third, and final chapter in the series, Richard is hoping water will be involved in the shoot. These images, were taken about two weeks after the first, and the third will be about two weeks after this set of images.

In addition to Richard's visually brimming and color captures of Tyler, I was personally taken with the location. I love forest shoots, but as you can see through the tree's, this section of woods is located close to the city, above, overlooking what lays beneath. Most stories begin away, and bring the action closer to the center as the story progresses. It was interesting to me that Richard began in lower Manhattan, then moved further away. It also made perfect sense given how New York is so central to Richard's work.

So many people, both in New York, and around the world, spend their lives looking at New York, either from across the water, or across the globe. Seeing Tyler in the city was something I enjoyed, seeing Tyler just outside NY was something I understood. Overlooking from a distance, visiting, but never quite belonging. Given the territory Richard is exploring in this series, it makes odd sense to move further from his comfort zone as the series progresses.

Tyler is the focus in the forefront, a strong sexual presence with forest behind him. So much of the beauty however, is seen through the branches of tree's that surround him. The light the dark, the blues and the pinks, the landscapes and the city are all beyond seen through the winter trees. These same trees, in few weeks will hide what's beyond, when their forces back into covering as their leaves grow back again.... until they fall away next Autumn to expose what's beyond once again.

'With the right model, a photograph can make you do many things. it can make you think, laugh, smile, cry, want, need, and of course it can make you wanna be the "model" or even better "it can sell you something" you didn't know you wanted or needed!'

One of the traits I admire most in others is the ability to see light, even when there isn't any. Seeing through the darkness, and not being engulfed by it. April 26th is William's birthday, but since I am not posting birthdays on that day, I wanted to ensure to commemorate the occasion. Working on FH allows me to focus on the aesthetic. When working with the images of a gifted a photographer, I can let go of all that's going on around me and focus on the beauty of work that I am featuring.

William has always been incredibly supportive and no matter what has been going on for him personally, has gone out of his way whenever I have asked. William has had his own struggles the last few years, many incredibly painful and stressful days and months. Yet, whenever I hear from him, there is a always a hint of light when describing the darkness he has experienced. Always looking towards the beauty that spring brings and his ability the warmer weather allows him to get out and shoot again. William, like so many, finds his energy in creating and I wish him many more spring birthdays, and look forward to featuring his future creations.

WillOh: Unmasked / Unabashed

Below: Willoh by Menphotographylondon

'I first modelled when I was doing my undergraduate studies at university. The first piece I was involved with there was a performance art installation so it involved me standing buck naked in the middle of an art gallery with people coming and staring at me. Those people included my classmates and some of my tutors.'

Next three shots from Adrian Orange

The moment I saw one of WillOh's modeling shots, I knew I wanted to feature him on FH. Incredibly hot body, not to mention that great body hair. A strong handsome face with beautifully intense eyes that immediately grab your focus. WillOh also seemed very natural and comfortable in front of the camera, something he confirmed in his response to my asking about a feature on the site. 'How would you want to curate it – clothed to implied to frontal, or chronologically, or a showcase of the best dick pics?'

I went for the 'implied to frontal', but knew from WillOh's response, he was creatively open to anything. WillOh's comfortably with being naked, and with having his nude body viewed, and enjoyed, by others, began with that University project he described in the quote above. WillOh went on to share that although he was completely naked, he was wearing a mask and although he was sure most of his teachers and classmates knew it was him, the mask made him feel more comfortable while he was out there naked, and on display for so many sets of eyes.

I have always been fascinated by naked performance art, especially the courage and vulnerability required to be completely bare in front of a group. For many, this would be an ultimate nightmare, for others, it provides a satisfying rush of erotic adrenaline. For me, the scenario is a interesting one to explore. Public nudity, especially if you're the only one naked, is a familiar fantasy for man, and a situation used in many erotic stories and movies, not to mention the focus of many on-line sites.

Next two shots from JR Photography

Although the first, this certainly wasn't WillOh's last experience with performance art, or being nude in a clothed group of people. Soon after his University project, WillOh was involved in a shot-by-shot re-shoot of the shower scene from Psycho, with WillOh in the Janet Leigh role. It is also something that forces a model to get quickly comfortable with taking off their clothes for a work situation. After being naked in front of a group of classmates, friends and strangers, working one on one with photographer or artist would seem a like a piece of cake!.

'As far as the nudity, working in the arts I think most employers are fairly open minded. I guess with my initial experiences being performance and life modelling, it felt very much part of an artistic pursuit rather than anything with overtly sexual overtones, which I think tends to come more with photographic modelling. Taking it all off feels very natural to me, and I actually feel more self-conscious being photographed with my clothes on. I suppose I have no shame about my body, but also I don’t see my nudity as something which is necessarily sexual, that’s an association our culture teaches us.'

Next three images from Dynax7000

After finishing school however, WillOh stopped modeling for awhile but then in his early thirties, decided to try life modelling to earn a bit of extra cash. WillOh says that he hasn't looked back since! The first photo shoot he did, was a series of life modelling poses which he wanted for use to promote himself with artists and drawing classes. He then signed up on a few portfolio websites, including Model Mayhem and posted some of the shots. That's when the offers from photographers for professional and more formal photo shoots began.

'Model Mayhem is a fantastic platform and I have got a lot of good work and met some really great people through it. I’m quite open minded, so perhaps some of my experiences would be considered strange by others. I did a promo video and photo-set for the dominatrix Governess Elizabeth, where I was restrained in various ways and was lightly electrocuted with a TENS machine. I suppose that’s the most unusual shoot I’ve done, but it was really fun and very professional. Again my open-mindedness might make me a poor judge of what might be considered strange.'

Through his on-line portfolio, WillOh says that he has already had the opportunity to work with some great people, but there are still many other photographers. A few on his list include; Town Crier Photos, Andrew Bowman and Superchargedguys, who are all London based. Further afield, if he ever got the chance, WillOh would love to work with Paul Sixta (summertimecowboy) and erfotografo. In the meantime some of his favorite experiences continue to be with life modeling and performance art.

Remaining images from Doppel-V

'I enjoy performance modelling, either life modelling in character or doing performance art projects. I was recently involved in a project by choreographer and artist Robert Hesp called Bathe which was presented as part of the Tempting Failure festival in East London. I was one of several performers who took turns sitting in a bath for twenty minutes in a gallery, illuminated by a light sculpture, while members of the public stood or sat around and watched. Most of the performers chose not to acknowledge the presence of the audience, and that’s how I started out. However, at one point I lifted my gaze and met the gaze of a woman in the audience, and we both started to giggle a bit. From that point I decided to look at each member of the audience in turn. Some met my gaze and there was a certain comfort and acknowledgement sharing the moment, and those moments were electric. Others looked away and couldn’t meet my gaze; I don’t know if that was because they felt uncomfortable with my nudity or if they simply didn’t like connecting in that way with a stranger'

'I guess I would say that my eyes are my standout feature. They kind of look like a wolf’s eyes. The iris is green and grey with a really dark grey rim which makes them stand out. I would say I am pretty happy with all parts of my body, as they are still functioning well. I’m not particularly vain, and my fitness comes from rock climbing, Pilates and yoga rather than hitting the gym regularly. I want my body to be fit for something, rather than just looking good in photos.'

WillOh is all about expression, trying new, crazy and expressive themes in front of the camera.. Getting paid is important, but so is collaborating creatively and the London based model is currently keeping an eye out for interesting projects, maybe involving cosplay or narrative if he can find the right project. In the meantime, WillOh is due to appear in the next issue of meatzine, (which I will preview soon!) as well as modeling nude for a life drawing open event on May 18th at the The Glory in London as well as regular nude modelling for the LGBTQ hen/stag party life modelling agency Starkers.Keep your EYES open!

A McGregor McDouble

'Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley actually seems interested in making the famously physically confident McGregor uncomfortable in his own skin, and the man on display in the season premiere is much more vulnerable than the typical McGregor character.'
Vanity Fair

Ewan McGregor is no stranger to being naked on film. He has had nude scenes in over a dozen movies, at least four of which included frontal. It was interesting then to read the talented actor was a bit self unconscious about his bathtub scene in last week's season premier of Fargo. In the shows third season, McGregor plays brothers, the successful, and thinner, Emmett Stussy, and his down on his luck brother Ray.

Velvet Goldmine 1998

After filming Trainspotting 2, co-star Jonny Lee Miller urged Ewan to start running and the Scottish actor says he reached the best shape of his life. But Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley wanted wanted him to pack the pounds back on to play Ray, and get naked to boot. It wasn't getting naked that bothered him, but in the past, when he was due to get naked on screen, Ewan would get his body ready in order to look his best on film. For Fargo, the nude scene was more about showing Ray at his worst, something it took Ewan a minute to get his head around.

Fargo 2017

Regardless of the prosthetic, wig and the extra pounds, almost 20 years after his daring nude scene in Velvet Goldmine, Ewan's backside is still an attention grabber. Fargo always manages to write incredible characters and am looking forward to the McGregor McDouble, the rest of the season.

'When Karl lost his virginity, Franz spontaneously ejaculated.'

When viewing images of Luke and Harry Treadaway in their Christmas colored undies, (Luke in red/Harry in green) you might not instantly think they're from a play. Over There focused on identical twins, Karl and Franz, who have been raised on opposite sides of the Berlin Wall. But Mark Ravenhill's 2009 production got great reviews, for both the story, and for Luke and Harry's performances.

I have covered both of the English brothers over the year son FH. Harry for his role in Penny Dreadful, and Luke for his skin baring role in Clapham Junction. Although I'm a little late to promote 'Over There', didn't want to pass up a brief look back.
